  1. So I have been banded since November 4th. The journey had a rockey start but I am coasting now. I am down 27 pounds since surgery. When I first got banded I was really discouraged. I could eat the same things I always ate and even after my first fill I was still eating a good bit more than I should. I felt like a failure. I thought about how embarrassed I would be if I didn't lose weight after I told everyone I was getting lapband. But low and behold I started taking zumba classes and got my second fill and things have turned around for me. I read another post that someone had wrote that said she expected the weight to come off and that if she wanted to exercise she would have not gotten lapband. Well I can tell you even if you can only squeeze in one workout a week it's better than nothing. Please remember that the band is a tool not a miracle worker. One last thing. I keep buying clothes that are too big for me. It's like I can't comprehend that I have lost the weight. Strange huh?
  2. Hey Everyone, Its been 9 days since surgery and I am feeling great. the pain is so minimal I don't even need meds. I lost 15 pounds too! Yeah! I must tell you that I am tired of the chicken broth but I have found that changing different brands has helped. I am loving my band. I am going to be one hot mama next summer! Good luck to everyone!
  3. Thanks everyone for your support. It really means alot to have people there who know what you are going through. The surgery went well although I don't remember much of anything. The anesthesiologist came in the room and that's when I really got scared. After that I woke up in my room. I don't ever remember being in the recovery room at all. I was given the choice to stay overnight because my insurance covers it but I couldn't get any rest in the hospital at all. The nurses and tech were coming in every 5 minutes to check on me and I had surgery at 7:45 am so I felt okay to go hom at 11 pm that night. Nothing like sleeping in your own bed. I must say that the pain isn't that bad. The gas pain is the worst! I find that walking around the house helps some. To everyone that has been banded and those that are next in line, good luck to you. By the way I am already down 5 pounds in the last 3 days. Everyone keep up the good work.
  4. I really don't know how to feel. Everyone keeps asking me if I am excited. I am excited, scared, nervous and hopeful all at the same time. I see of you came home the same day. They asked that I stay overnight. I think I am so nervous becuase this is drastic and if I don't make this work I will be fat forever. I see some people here that haven't lost alot of weight and other that lost majorly. I hope it works for me.
  5. I totoally agree with you. I don't understand why they can't perfom the test at the same time as the consult. I guess that gives them reason to charge your insuance for another visit.
  6. I have a new surgeon and no program fee!!! My surgery is on Nov 4th now instead of November 2nd. YEah I am so happy!
  7. Thanks MiMi, I definelty will call around tomorrow. Funny I used to live in Columbia S.C. right off of Garners Ferry Road. I thought that fee was a bit high. I mean they are getting thousands from the insurance company.
  8. I was told that my program fee will be 1000.00 today. I am on the East Coast but I still find that really high because that is above my insurance which is covering the surgery? What do you think? I wonder how hard it would be to change surgeons?
  9. Dhawkins, That is great to hear. I was recently approved also. I am so happy to have my surgery. I am scheduled for November 2nd. I wasn't overweight as a child either. I had two boys pretty much back to back and gained alot of weight. I gained almost 100 pounds since meeting my husband. Since I am only 30 I decided I didn't want to spend the rest of my life this way. I am really to lose weight. And your right about Beyonce, she better watch out! LOL!
  10. Hello All, I am appoved and I received confirmation that my surgery is on November 2nd. YAAAAHHHH! I can't wait!
  11. Hi Timoyal, My waiting game ended yesterday. I was approved. It took about 7 business day. Those days seemed to be so long. I am sheduled for November 2nd. My best advise to you is too occupy yourself with something else if you don't you'll drive yourself crazy.
  12. I was approved through Aetna today. Scheduled for November 9th!
  13. UPDATE: I Got Approved today!!! Yeah Me. Now I am nervous.
  14. The support group is held by my doctors office. It's held once a month. I think its a great motovational tool. Crazyinlove, I hope you get approved! Shoot I hope I get approved. LOL!
  15. Congrats! You are on your way! :rolleyes2:
