  1. Good Morning Pat, I'm happy to report that I'm MUCH better today! I knew I was feeling better when I wanted breakfast. It's the first time I've wanted food since the surgery. Having said that I've been up for an hour and all I've had is a few sips of coffee. I don't have restriction yet but I sure don't have an appetite either yay! I had one son and a daughter-in-law that were worried about the idea of surgery too but I just reminded them of all the weight related surgery my sister had before she passed away at age 57 and they cautiously supported me. We have to keep in mind that we're doing this for our health too although it's more fun to talk about the new look. Your great grandson sounds yummy you are very lucky and think how much better you'll be able to keep up with him when he starts running around. Wish your husband a belated Happy Birthday for us. I told mine I want to go dancing for my birthday next year!!! Stay positive it's positively worth it.:wink2:
  2. Will do Cherie you sound like you'll be well prepared. Had mine on the 12th feeling better today. All the best!
  3. Hi Pat, Well I'm day 3 on the recovery"band" wagon and it's getting better. they repaired a hernia while they were in there so getting up and down has been hard but I'm keeping my eye on the prize. sending my prayers and best wishes your way. Let me know how you're doing:smile2:.
  4. Today is my 3rd day on the recovery "band" wagon. They found and repaired a hernia when they went in as well as placing the band. I'd love to say this is a piece of cake (especially since today is my birthday) but it really isn't. Each day is getting better though and I can't wait to start seeing the results. I'm not weighing myself this week as I'm very bloated from the surgery, but next Wed. will be 4 weeks and I plan to start the day with a weigh-in and a protein shake!!! Thinking of you all that are on this path with me. Roll on November so we can start reporting in big or at least steady losses. Safe journey.
  5. I had 3 weeks pre-op that consisted of 2 Protein Shakes and 1 Protein Bar and 2 cups of vegetables per day and other than Water coffee tea and diet drinks that was it! I cheated a couple of times late at night but all in all did pretty well losing 15.6 lbs by surgery day. I didn't get headaches at all which is unusual for me on a diet. Walking is really helping and take pain meds I'm on Tylenol 3's and they help too. I'll be sending you my prayers, you'll be just fine and we'll be dropping those pounds before you know it.:w00t:
  6. Day 2 post-op.......ouch! Had applesauce and yogurt today no problem. Getting up and down is another story! I'm focusing on the new wardrobe I'm going to buy at the end of this journey:rolleyes2:.
  7. Sharing a post from another thread FYI. nowhere close to childbirth... they gave me a painkiller in my iv post op then Ty3 at home, I can tell when they are wearing off, left shoulder pain from gas used to place port but manageable, coughing hurts but not horrible, have 5 small incisions, they repaired a hernia while they were in, can't feel the band at all, but can the port it's sore, had no nausea, and I was able to drink right away, was hungry last night so I had a protein shake again no problem. I hope they didn't forget to put the band in:scared2:. Not to worry you'll do fine, keep me posted and good luck. I hope they don't run out of bikinis next summer:thumbup:
  8. Thanks Big Gerr, did you get your fill yesterday? I don't feel any restriction, can drink normal and had a protein shake last night. Have a great day!

  10. Hooray I'm done!!! Hurt like hell when I woke up, had a little trouble getting my oxygen up, but was operated at 8 this morn, came home at 3 and all in all feeling good. Tylenol 3's are a wonderful thing!!! Let the losing begin.:smile2:

  12. 63 0n Friday, banded this morning, keep in touch. We're oldies but goodies!
  13. I'm on my way, surgery in an hour. 15.6 lbs down, thanks for all the "coaching", wish me luck!
  14. Thanks so much. I'm definitely interested in the support group so I'll be in touch and follow the postings. When were you banded?
  15. Thank you. I'm anxious for tomorrow to come, and looking forward to getting on with it. How are you doing?
  16. Is anybody out there interested in getting this site going again? I will be banded at Maples on Oct. 12 and would love to hear from fellow Manitobans on how you're doing either pre or post op.
  17. I know what you mean! Let's keep our eye on the end result and just do what we need to do. We can do it! You are being banded on my birthday so we'll both be celebrating. All the best!
  18. Just wanted to share that I'm down 14 lbs pre-op ( 18 days) and I learned how to add the ticker so today is a good day!!! 3 more sleeps till banding.
  19. Good morning everyone, could anyone explain to me how to add the ticker tape to my postings. I'm tech challenged but they look so cute. Hope everyone who is banded is healing nicely. 4 more sleeps for me. I don't seem to be losing anymore on my pre-op so that's a little scary. I'm just going to have faith:crying:.
  20. Can you get your protein shakes in chocolate? I make mine with hot water and it makes a great hot chocolate! It might help the cravings. Good luck.
  21. A big hug and thanks to everyone reporting in about the surgery. The unknown is always scarier than the reality. It sounds like you are all doing great and I can't wait until we're all racking up the number of lbs lost. Maybe we can chart how much we've lost together as we go. 5 more sleeps!!!
  22. Congratulations you are doing great! I can't wait until I can say I'm down 10 lbs more. Glad to hear it's not a super long recovery.
  23. OK did anyone else screw up bad on their pre-op? I have done 15 days perfectly and last night I started thinking about the things I would never likely have to eat again and panicked and went on a binge, a chocolate bar a bag of swedish berries 3 handfuls of cashews and 2 slices of rye bread with butter. As I type this I can't believe I did it. I still have 6 days until surgery to undo the damage but seriously how could I get this close. I am definitely going to get counselling for food addiction when this is over.
  24. Wow 25 lbs without the band is amazing! I have my surgery on the 12th too but had to do 3wks pre-op. So far down 11 lbs. 7 more sleeps!!!
  25. Me too, good luck!
