Vitamins & Malnourishment
She says she went from 232 to 135 all by herself. I wonder how long the weight will stay off. The statistics are that she has a 95% chance of gaining it back. Sorry you had to go through that. Obviously she has no clue!!!

What PPI are you taking?
The omeprazole is what my insurance covers so I got it today for a $10 dollar co-pay! That is way better than $90. Especially if I will be taking it awhile. Thanks everyone for all the responses. It was very helpful!

Sleep study charged my insurance SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS
The medical bills really are out of control. If you think that is bad, try a 20,000 bill for an emergency room visit I had earlier this year. When my lapband broke in half, the broken tubing settled in my right lower side and got infected. I didn't know that is what happened. The ER doc thought I had appendicitis and so he ran all these scans, bloodwork, and ultrasounds. I can't even imagine going to the ER without insurance. Very scary!!!

The Yellow Brick Road to Weight Loss
WELCOME-Congrats on your journey to get well! As far as which surgery to get, I have not been successful with my lapband and I am having it removed and switched over to the sleeve next week. Many others on the forum have had revisions as well. One thing that I really noticed about sleeve patients is how truly happy they are. This forum is so supportive because most everyone is experiencing success. With the band, there are so many different issues that can go wrong. Plus, you have a 85% chance of having some sort of corrective surgery within ten years. I really wish I would have known about the sleeve three and 1/2 years ago when I had the band. Had I known, I would have NEVER had that thing put in my body. I will be happy to talk with you more after I have my surgery. Good luck with everything! : )

What PPI are you taking?
Hi there, I went to fill a Nexium prescription because my doctor wanted me to start taking it before surgery. The insurance would only fill a 30 day supply for $90.00. THAT IS CRAZY! Can anyone tell me what they take and if there is a generic of anything? I already have to pay my $ 3000.00 hospital co-pay tomorrow for my sleeve and I just feel there has to be something more reasonable. I see my doctor tomorrow afternoon and would like some ideas. Thanks everyone!!!

I am so embarrassed- not exercising
I joined the YMCA when I first had my lapband surgery. I really love working out there and continued to do so until my lapband broke and caused me major pain. I met so many nice people there and the teachers are all so great. I mainly go to the classes and I grew to love spinning class. I am not good at pusing myself, so working out at home just doesn't work. The teachers in the classes motivated me to keep going, without the harshness of a personal trainer. If I didn't feel up to it one day, I could take something calm like yoga or pilates. I really miss it and can't wait to get back as soon as I heal. The Wii Fit seemed fun at first, but I got pretty sick of it fast. We have all these wworkout games I tried and now they are just collecting dust. I hope you can find your grove! Good luck!!! : )

CLAIMS DENIED-Pre-Existing Condition? Please Help
Call them. It could be a mistake. I have had lots of claims filled with the wrong code and then they will refile them and cover it. Remember their goal is to make money and you sometimes have to fight them. Ask to speak to a supervisor if they give you the run-around. That is strange they are saying it tis a pre-existing condition. I would investigate that! Wish you the best of luck!

So excited....
The time will FLY by. Trust me. I have had to wait since September for my final insurance approval and it really has gone by fast. The good thing about having the time is that you can research and prepare yourself. I went through phases where I was so scared, but now I am mainly excited. Yea on getting your date!

How long did you wait to work out after surgery?
I was wondering how many weeks you had to wait to workout and what type of exercise you did. I haven't been able to work out due to my broken lapband tubing because it is so painful and I feel horrible. One more week until that is over with and I have my sleeve. I know I need to walk right away, but I was curious when you went back to the gym. Thanks!

Help
I understand feeling like a failure. I live with that everyday since I have a failed lapband. I do think you need to look at your accomplishments though. You are in one-derland. That is HUGE. I dream of being in the one-hundreds. Forty pounds in six months is great. You are NOT a failure. You are doing well!!! Be proud of yourself.
