One Month Since Surgery
You will know when you have had enough and when you have OVER EATEN. My surgeon explained to me that when you have over eaten that one last bite will come back up. and I measure everything so that I DO NOT OVER EAT. I barely can eat over 2 1/2 ounces. You will do just fine. Deb

One Month Since Surgery
Not quite at a month, but already down 25 pounds. It is soooo amazing to see and feel how loose my clothes are already fitting. I do hope that I can keep my momentum going. I have shaken up my routine. I climb the stairs at work during my breaks. It seems to be counter acting and confusing my body. I walk 45 minutes a day and resistance training every other day. So we will see how this works with the weight loss. Everyone is doing an amazing job!!!! Deb

Unrealistic Expectations
I told my immediate co-workers. In my office only. (and family of course) The one thing I had to put the breaks on was the "how much did you lose today?" Every day the same thing. So I announced to all of them that I only weigh myself every ten days. They will eventually quit asking me. They are supportive, and I understand that I'm the first one that they know that has went through this. So yes they are very curious. They ask me a lot of questions which is fine with me. I answer what I can, what I can't I tell them to google it. LOL..... So my first week back to work was pretty good. Deb

100 + pounds
Thanks, I just thought I was eating too many carbs or not enough calories. I understand that the more weight that you need to lose. It comes off fairly quick. I was so hoping to get rid of my first 50 within the first 90 days. Maybe once I am able to "eat" I will find it easier to chart calories and Protein then carbs. Right now depending on the serving size I seem to cut everything to 1/4 the serving then re-calculate everything. I know seems like work right. LOL. Thanks for responding. Deb

100 + pounds
I was sleeved on 3/7/2011. My first two weeks the weight melted like butter. Lost 20 pounds. Need to lose a total of 115 pounds. Now I have since returned to work. (3/21/2011) I walk 45 minutes a day, my job is a desk job. UGH! I have lost 2 pounds since returning to work. I also have started light resistance training every other day. Nothing strenous. I do get my fluids in and do get my Protein in. Would this be considered normal or am I doing something wrong. I manage to get in at least 450 - 500 calories carbs are close to 20 a day. I'm limited on food as I'm on the full liquid diet until April 7. From there I can begin fish, chicken. Will that make a difference on the weight loss? Getting protein from food rather than liquid does that have a bigger impact on the way we lose? I did not recieve any information on what my diet should be during this stage. Just a list of what is allowed on the full liquid diet. I have been adhearing to that. I have tweaked it by adding more protein and Water. Unflavored

Two weeks
Two weeks ago I was sleeved. Today I'm back at work. I feel good, busy and answering questions from my co- workers. A few are proud and some not really knowing what to think. It is like I didn't even leave. Lol. Two weeks was ample time for me before I returned to work. Could've gotten away with only one week. Doctor said two. Anyway feels great to get back into the swing of things. Deb

Potential bander thinking of going with the sleeve
I was too going to get the band in the begining, but soon after I read post after post on the health hazzards I decided to go with the sleeve. So glad I did. I have no issues with my sleeve. I actually saw a picture in my surgeon's office of what band erosion looks like. Oh I'm so so glad I did the sleeve. That looked so awful and painful. He isn't doing as many bands now, but he is doing a lot of revisions. I researched the sleeve for several months ,I realized that it was the better choice of the options available. Research and discuss with your doctor the options available to you. Only you can make this discision for you. Good luck. Deb

Couple post-op q's
Depending on what your doctor has recommended for you. You should receive a list of what you can and can not have and at which stage. Every doc is different on how they want their patients to proceed with their diets. Mine had me on liquids for only 2 days. Day 3 - week 4 started full liquids. Which consists of cottage cheese and yogurt sf pudding, creamed Soups. Week 5-8 for me is fish, mashed potaoes anything that I can mash with a fork. Week 9 is a slow re-introduction of "regular food" So depending on what is recommended by your doctor. Just follow what your surgeon has given you as your guidelines for post op. Deb

Body Sculpting or No?
Well I had my tummy tuck done years before my sleeve. My thing to correct once I meet goal will either be a boob job or legs. Not sure maybe wont need the legs (thighs) since I'm walking everyday. fingers crossed. Do what ever makes you happy. That is all that matters. Deb

so afraid my sleeve will stretch
Mine does too. I'm two weeks out. My surgeon told me to take zegrid and I also take zantac. The zantac works better at reducing the "hungry feeling" He also told me maalox 1/2-1 teaspoon. But he wanted me to stay on the zegrid. Check with your surgeon. Deb

UHC (Choice Plus) Approval!
Yes I did. On February 16. And my case manager seemed very excited for me. It is a fantastic call to receive. My message was, "I have wonderful news for you. Please call me back." I did and I was so shaking when I was dialing her number. Yes a call I will not forget. Then came the "approval" letter. I still have it. I have put it with all of my other papers for my sleeve. Congrats!!!!! Making room for you on the loser's bench!!!!! Deb

FULL STEAM AHEAD!

Sleeved on March 7th, 2011
I must be an odd ball. LOL...I don't crave nor do I want to eat. I just drink my Water and crystal light. I make myself eat the yogurt, cottage cheese. I do use Protein powder in my sf fat free pudding. So I'm at least getting protein in me. Plus a shake. So I really don't feel deprived of anything. Feel great and have no regrets at all.. Deb

2 week post op visit, moved to mushies, full on 3 fork fulls?
Thats great news about the BP meds. How fantastic is that? Excellent on the weight loss too!!!! I'm doing full liquids for another 3 weeks. I do find that when I eat cottage cheese I fill full fast after three bites. The same with the yogurt. On week five I can progress to tuna and any food that I can mash with a fork. I'm so looking for that. There maybe more restriction now that you are getting something other than liquids in. I felt more restriction after the broth and water stage. Deb
