  1. Enable was already set on my work computer. I will check on my home compter later. Could you change the surgeon to Dr. Brain Long at Sibley hospital in Washington DC. for me please. I don't have the time to deal with this now. Thanks
  2. I have internet explorer 7 here at work and I think if I remember correctly the same at home as well. I probably wont be able to change any settings here at work. But if you give me directions I could try when at home.
  3. I don’t even see a drop down list. Should I be on this page http://www.lapbandtalk.com/patient/viewpatient/26079/edit Clicking edit profile does nothing and click here to change status redirects me http://www.lapbandtalk.com/user/298781-wantinghealth/ Then clicking lap band patient profile redirects me back to http://www.lapbandtalk.com/patient/viewpatient/26079 In an endless loop.
  4. I am unable to edit my surgeon. I ended up going to a different surgeon.

Feb 2011 Bandsters: How much have your lost?

Well I had already lost 45 lbs during my 6 month pre-op diet by not eating rice pasta or bread and only eating small 1 cup portions. I had my lapband placed on Feb 17th 2011. I had my first fill on March 15th. My portion sizes went to 1/2 cup after my first fill. I have lost 18 lbs since the surgery for a total of 63 lbs. I just went to a follow up yesterday and did not get a second fill. I did not want one and the doctors said I did not need one. I had lost 11 lbs since my last follow up 5 weeks ago. My next follow up is in another 5 weeks or sooner if I think I need a fill at that time.

Any Feb bandster gotten a fill yet?

I went for a follow up yesterday after work on March 15 that was 2 days shy of 4 weeks out for me and they gave me my first fill. I had not lost any weight in the last 2 weeks and was hungry between meals. Unknown to me I had 2 cc's in the band from the surgery (they said that was for buoyancy and did not count that as a fill because it did not put any pressure on the stomach) and they added 1 cc for my fill. So I have 3 ccs now. Those of you that will be getting a fill soon, relax It did not hurt to get the fill at all. It is a funny feeling to drink water and have it sit there a moment and then trickle down. I am on liquids for 24 hrs then back to soild foods. I had a protien shake for dinner last night. I weighed myself this morning and had already lost 1 pound.
  7. Thank you. I had my surgery Feb 17th. I had lapband, gallbladder removal and hiatal hernia repair all at the same time. I knew I was going to have the gallbladder removed but didn't even know I had the hernia. Finding it hard to get enough water in. But I am doing ok. I also posted this in the hows everyone doing since surgery. I wasn't sure where to post this.

Favorite Protein Shakes, Powers, Drinks, etc

I get it from Drinkclick.com but it is availabe at amazon and BTV.com as well. I add just a little creamer and then mix with Water and heat in the microwave. It is delicious. It can be made cold as well.

Favorite Protein Shakes, Powers, Drinks, etc

My favorite is Click. It is a protein shake with coffee in it. They have moca and vanilla latte. I like the vanilla best. I heat it up in the microwave and drink it for breakfast instead of coffee.

Are there any other Sleep Apnea Sufferers out there?

I have used a Cpap with a nasal mask for about 1 year now. There are products out there that can make it more tolerable. RemZZZ makes a mask liner. And there are strap covers by several companies. And I use an extra long hose with a tube cover and an arm hanger to have the tube come straight down instead of from the side. The arm swivals as I turn. I also use the mask liner and the strap covers. Just do a google search. There are many products out there that could help.

    Dr. Cynthia Long in Maryland

I had everything done and was ready to send the package to the insurance. I was hoping for an end of December or beginning of January surgery date. I would have preferred Shady Grove but there are only 2 other bariatric surgeons there. One has an office in Fredrick and wants an upfront fee of I think it was $500 and wanted me to start over with his nutritionist. The other does not take any insurance. He takes self pay only or those that can go out of network and do the paperwork themselves to get partially reimbursed. I have Aetna and cannot go out of network. Therefore it is not possible for me to get it done at Shady Grove. However the surgeon at Sibley said to bring in a copy of all my records at my consult January 4. They said if I have everything they will not charge an upfront fee or have me start over again. After the consult I will make a decision of which surgeon I prefer.

    Dr. Cynthia Long in Maryland

I am in the same boat as you. I still am not sure of what to do.I went to the vitamin and preop class at Sinai. I did not get a good feeling about the hospital nutritionist. She had very different advise than what we were told. I think she has more experiance with bypass patients than lapband. And by the way Dr. Cynthia Long will not be opening at Sinai until February . I do have a consult with a doctor at sibley. His name is Dr. Brian long. (coincidence same last name). I will make a decision between the two of them.
  15. I am preop and my surgeons office wants a written statement from my primary care doctor stating that he recomends the surgery. My primary care doctor had previously told me to quote "go for it" but now that my surgeon wants it in writing he is worried about the liability and and may not give me the recomendation. Has anyone else had this problem? what did you do?

Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks Cocoabean, I will ask my surgeon what she will accept. I am not sure if it was a requirement of the surgeon or of Aetna. I will ask her.
  17. Hi. I just joined I am in Maryland. I will be going to a seminar by Dr. Cynthia Long from Silver Spring tomorrow night at Shady Grove Hospital. Is there any patients of Dr. Long here? I would like to here from you.

Thanks reverie for making me feel welcome. Bry thank you for the information. It looks like we are starting our journy around the same time. Maybe down the line if we have questions we could ask each other. See you around the boards.
