  1. My banded date is 9/8/06. Joanne Holl
  2. I have had hair loss from several small surgeries I have had in the last two years. I did not notice any hair loss in 2006 when I had my lapband placed! I am taking Biotin each day and I too notice it does help my skin & nails. I have yet to try the Noxitrin (sp) but will do so soon as some here on laptalk have recommended it.
  3. I do not know what a leaking bowel would have to do with a lapband. I guess my reply would be to check with your Regular General Practitioner.
  4. This sounds like I had written it! I will follow this blog and take all the wise words you get to my needs too. Thanks! Joanne
  5. Are you really starting over? I don't think so! The tool is just an ongoing assist on this road of healthy living. The disconnection is just a pothole that needs to be fixed and it slowed you down a bit. We all are learning what it takes to drive down this road. Your doctor is updating his skills, the manufacturer is finding what they can do to improve product, and you (the recipient) will review your past actions to be sure you travel in the right direction. Your path ahead is bright and we wish you safe travel.
  6. I am wishing you a good recovery. The lapband is the way to go. Follow you bariatric people's guidelines. You should be on the right path to good health soon. Don't give up!
  7. LapBandTalk is here and available for some answers & inspiration. Wishing you the best of health as you join our Bander World!
  8. I eat lunch at the Senior Center each week day. When I get there I smell fresh coffee. I have to sip a half cup! I don't drink during my meal, but it is tempting to have another half cup with friends when visiting afterwards. Life puts so many things in front of us each day! Exactly what is it that the mealtime liquid does? When home or eating out I have no problem. I'm just think in' . . . .

  12. I've found this Forum to be honest & helpful. But there is a new generation coming along that is being raised on praise motivation. (My grandchildren, for an example.) They get a good grade in school or etc. stars, etc.. . little ones color a picture it goes up on the refrigerator with praise, etc. Probably that works too. . . . But when they grow up I just hope their boss or supervisor is up to the task. I say to use a little bit of both. . . . but what does an old Grandma know?
  13. Bravo! Well done, and thank you for inspiring the rest of us at Lap Band Talk. . . . . . .
  14. You are Rockin'! Wishing you a smooth road ahead to good health and continued success. . .
  15. I go to the teaching hospital/bariatric center near Abbott NW of Minneapolis. They do hundreds of our type lap band placements and my insurance company suggested them along with several others locations doing a quantity of our type. (Not so many problems!) Rochester Mayo does not do these I was told. I've had 2 fills and will hopefully be getting another on October 7th. No problems, knock on wood! I love my band.
  16. Welcome to our World of the Banded! Keep in touch with your Bariatric Center/Doctor and follow their advice and your road to good health will be smooth. If you hit a few potholes the great folks here at Lap Band Talk are great to counsel you. Wish you the best. . .
  17. Sorry you are having troubles. Take it easy and don't be hard on yourself. We'll be watching for your update here and saying a prayer for your healing.
  18. Personally I would call the home office of the insurance Company. Tell them what you wrote here. They will have more medical bills if they let you regain all that weight! I would think they would give you a variance/pass on the old rule for your health's sake! Good Luck!
  19. This is a topic dear to my heart. I cannot control my middle of the night eating. I think it is my diabetes raising it's ugly head! I am trying to have a fruit serving at bedtime. (When I remember.) This is at 3 or 4 in the morning when I wake up for bathroom duty. I am diabetic borderline, so sugar or juice allows me to go back to sleep! But once in awhile I have toast & sugar free jam . . . but once I start that I want more. When I get my saline back next week that should soon vanish. (I hope.) But "THANK YOU GOD" my cancer has not reappeared!
  20. I bought the book. Now I've just got to read it! Just came at a very busy family time. Soon. . . Getting a fill on the 7th. So then. . .
  21. Not knowing more about you (Do you eat alone or with family? Are you diabetic, so you control sugar? Do you have high blood pressure? Do you have something you are being treated for? Etc?) If my questions are not a factor and you are cooking for others I would eat with the rest of the family and just cut the quantity in 1/2. If you are alone I suggest boiling a doz eggs & chopping fresh veg & a variety of fruit, etc. to have in the refrigerator. Think of skim milk, chicken breasts, unsweetened apple sauce, and then look at some low cal recipes for baking something you like. I just tried to think ahead to have things on hand. Sometimes I opened a can of beans & rinsed them for my protein. Beans go down good and add flavour to a salad too. Onions, carrots, celery, broccoli are good, but I found I felt better if I blanched them or put them in microwave a little bit to ease my tummy. If I ate them raw they didn't digest well or else I wasn't chewing long enough. Maybe this is more than you ever wanted to know, but you will do great, just listen to you pouch it will tune you in to it's likes & dislikes!
  22. Welcome to our Lap Band World! Wish you both great travelling on your road ahead to good health.
  23. You got it Blake! Keep on that smooth road ahead, miss the potholes and dead ends, watch for curves and the steep hills and the valleys and interstate will be great. . . . . . . . . . . . . (sorry I got carried away.) I also had bad feet, walked slowly, high blood pressure, diabetes and etc. so my band is my saviour. Congrats to you
  24. I have my appointment with Bariatric Center for October 7th. May be having a fill. I had the saline removed early in 2012 before my cancer surgery for the removal of the left breast. That was done just next door to the Bariatric Center, so it's not far for consult. They announced I'm "cancer free" so now to get back to my banding tool. I ate a little too much during the cancer scare, or else I celebrated the freedom from that worry! So with that extra weight packed on, I'm now gearing my brain up to watch what goes in my mouth. The Lap Band Talk site is one I found in 2007 and have this past winter revisited. Low and behold, I was still listed as a member. I have been spending morning coffee time here since our long snowy winter here in west-central Minnesota. . . . . . . . . Just a thought: . . . . . I think my cancer surgery and the after therapy went so well because of the help & success I had from my banding tool. . . . . . . . . . Probably saved my life!
