  1. How did you guys do? Hope everything went smoothly!
  2. Hi. I was banded the 9th. I'm doing well. I walked around a lot the day after surgery and as a result haven't had any gas pains at all (at least I think that's why!). I haven't needed any pain meds - not even Tylenol - since the day after surgery. I can't start mushies until after I see my surgeon on Thursday. I'm not hungry at all though. I'm getting my two Protein shakes in, a reduced sugar apple juice and Water. broth does not appeal to me at all. I'm vegetarian so my choices are mushroom broth, Miso or vegetable broth. They all taste way too salty to me and one of them is low sodium. At this point, I cannot imagine disobeying my doctors orders. For me, I know it would be a slippery slope so I'm committed to do everything my doctor says. Best wishes to all of you guys! We are headed to healthy!
  3. Thanks Cancun. I didn't know that. I will get a different type of low sugar juice.
  4. Day two my stomach looked like a basketball - I even said so to my mom. Today it has gone down a lot (Day 3). I was getting dizzy and headaches but a small glass of apple juice seems to help. I have no sugar added juice from Trader Joes. It has 50 calories per serving and tastes great.
  5. An egg, tuna and soft cheese sounds so good right now! I'm Day 3 post op but feeling good.
  6. I'm on liquids until I see my surgeon on Thursday (one week post op). If I've tolerates liquids well then she will move me to pureed foods. That being said, I dont think it's wise to go against your doctors orders. Call and get permission and it will ease your mind.
  7. I had no pre-op diet. Just soft foods the day before surgery and nothing after midnight. Was banded on Thursday and I'm doing well.
  8. How did it go DocsWife? How are you feeling?
  9. I was banded on Thursday and I am exhausted! I'm having a hard time getting my protein shakes down so I think the energy level is just related to no/low calorie intake. I'm hoping to feel much more energetic in a week to ten days.

  11. Deedee, I'm on the 9th too. I'm nervous at times and ok at other times. It's a bit of a rollercoaster at the moment but we will get through it. Keep calm and carry on!
  12. Best wishes to each of you! My day is Thursday.
  13. Sending you good healing vibes Cathy!
  14. I like the Celebrate ones in pineapple strawberry
  15. If you are an adult, having your dad mmonitor your weight feels like a bad idea to me. I've been there and done that. My dad weighed me every other day during a diet he was helping me with - I was 25. NOT a healthy relationship. I say dont tell him. Only tell people you know will support you. Best wishes.
  16. Did you speak with a nutritionist prior to surgery? If so, contact that person. If not, call your surgeon and ask.
  17. Mine is a week from today and I am nervous too. Perhaps your family is trying to minimize it to keep you calm? My mom keeps telling me it's goin to be fine, not a major surgery, no actual cutting, etc. She means well but it is still scary. Best wishes!
  18. My orders are clear liquids plus thin protein shakes for one week then I have an appointment with my surgeon. She will then tell me if I can move on to the next stage.

  20. Thanks! I'm on the 9th. Good luck and speedy recovery to all.
  21. How did it go for those who were banded today? Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
  22. Hi Jess, I'm thinking that your doctor is saying that you are ultimately responsible for his bill if it isn't covered by insurance. I believe you will get an approval letter in advance from most insurance companies. I don't see how a doctor can say for sure whether your insurance will cover it - ALL policies are different. It isn't just that some companies cover it and some don't. For example, I have Aetna. Aetna covers bariatric procedures under some of its policies but not under my policy. On the Vitamins - follow whatever your doctor recommends. I just ordered and tried the Celebrate chewable vitamins in pineapple strawberry and they tasted ok and didn't upset my tummy at all (mind you - I haven't been banded yet). Best wishes and good luck for a speed approval!
  23. Anesthesia $1800, surgery center $6500, surgeon fee $5800
  24. You don't see any ads at all if you use the free app IPB. So awesome for my iPhone.
