  1. Good luck! I am so glad that there seems to be an easy solution!
  2. Jess, I felt the same way. I also felt that way briefly on Day 3 post op. However, I am feeling great about this decision now. I just needed to accept that I couldn't do this on my own. You'll be ok. Just be prepared to have varying feelings afterwards. You have made the right decision. Best wishes and keep us posted on how you are doing.
  3. Hi there, Someone recently posted a link to their weight loss spreadsheet. It calculated all sorts of things including how much of your excess weight you have lost. Would that computer genius who posted it be willing to share it by emailing it to me? I could try to create my own but I don't think it would be anywhere near as helpful as the one I saw. Thanks so much! It would be appreciated! Best wishes!
  4. Oh wow. A salad sound so yummy. I'm on a 1/4 cup of food this week so its out for me but it is something to look forward to!
  5. I slept on my side the day of surgery and for two days after. After that, I slept on my tummy. Do it when it feels comfortable for you.
  6. Let us know what the doc says Gabbie!
  7. Hi, Do you know if your surgeon put fluid in your band at the time of surgery? (it seems like some of the people that have this problem right after surgery had a surgeon who put fluid in at the time of surgery) If so, maybe they need to remove it. If not, perhaps you are still swollen and need to stick with liquids for another week. Drink protein shakes instead - they might fill you up more. Best wishes!
  8. My doc said no caffeine for one week after surgery. I had my first cup of liquid heaven (coffee) on Friday. Just one a day and watching to make sure I am drinking enough water.
  9. Joe, I was allowed to shower the day after surgery. It felt awesome! On another note, i can't believe I'm down 17 pounds since surgery. I'm on day 9 post op!
  10. My doc gave me a card that says I have had stomach surgery and to please allow me to order off the kids or senior menu.
  11. Lucky, This time isn't about losing. It's about healing. Dont worry - it will happen. also, they may have pumped you full of saline during surgery which you body might retain for a few more days - especially if you are becoming dehydrated. Be patient. It will happen. Best wishes!
  12. Hi Lavendar, I wore sweats, a tank top and sweatshirt. Wear slip on shoes too. Just make sure you wear something kind of loose with an elastic waist. I felt bloated afterwards. Best wishes!!!
  13. Nan, Are you in the SF bay area? Maybe you should come to me for Christmas!
  14. Drea, Do they want you to have another surgery to correct the placement of your band? Have they made sure there is no fluid in the band (I'm sure they have but feel the need to ask)? I'm sorry you are having a hard time. Is anyone with you? Keep us posted. Hugs!
  15. Hey Sandie, I'm new to being banded so not really mentor quality - yet! I am posting to let you know there is a Lapband mentor and buddies subforum on this site. I hope you find someone to help! Best wishes!
  16. Buckle down and do it! It's worth it. You don't want your surgery cancelled because you didn't do what you were told. Don't give yourself a choice - I think that's when I have failed before the band. If I told myself no way, as I do now with my band, then I'm fine. I think saying the hernia being repaired is a great explanation for your family. Keep us posted! You're going to do great!
  17. Hi, Are you tracking your calories? If you use a good tracker, perhaps it would give you an idea of whether you are lacking any nutrients and give you a good idea of how to increase your intake. I just started my mushy stage on Thursday. I eat 1/4 c of food three times a day - all low carb and no sugar - plus two protein shakes a day. In the next three weeks I am supposed to increase to 1/2 cup at each meal. Mashed potatoes are probably not a great choice but what if you baked a potato and used fat free sour cream? Dump the butter and milk/half and half. Why did your surgeon give you a fill if you were already unable to eat? Give yourself a week of calorie tracking and then review your log to see if you can make some changes. Best wishes!
  18. I have not had any gas pain at all so, no, not everyone gets that pain. I'm day 8 post op.
  19. My steri strips are still on but they are definitely peeling up at the edges. I shower as normal and let them get wet. There's nothing wrong with getting them wet. My doc said that i am not to pull them off under any circumstance. I'm 8 days post op.
  20. Queen, Sugarfree Popsicles were awesome. Small bites and let it dissolve in your mouth first. They were the best tasting thing I had on my week of liquids. Broths all tasted too salty to me - even the low sodium ones.
  21. Being dehydrated can lead to chapped lips too. Keep your water intake in check!
  22. My port is to the right of my belly button. DocsWife, is the stick in your side at an incision site or does it feel like it's coming from the inside?
  23. I love this post! Congratulations!!
  24. Becky, With that attitude, you're recovery will be a breeze! Keep us posted!
