  1. I was self- pay. I only had an EKG, blood draw and a chest xray (which was ordered because I had quit smoking eighteen months prior).
  2. I was nauseous immediately after surgery. Two shots of anti nausea meds later - gone! Not been nauseous since.
  3. I'm wondering if your doctor put fluid in your band at the time of surgery. Seems like some people who have this problem swallowing already have fluid. Call your doctor and let them know what is going on.
  4. Oh my gosh! Me too! Feels like my clothes moving are irritating my incision sites! It was worse when I have five steri strips. Now I just have one. It's really annoying.
  5. You may not get an answer until you see your doc. We would just be guessing as to what is going on. Keeping fingers crosses that all is well.
  6. Amber, I wouldn't do the biscuit. I read in here a lot about people not tolerating bread with the band. Also - a cheese biscuit is NOT purée under your doctors orders. He means purée BEFORE it goes in your mouth - not after!
  7. I hate to hear of people experiencing really bad pain! I had very little pain. The day after my surgery was the last day I needed any pain meds at all. Haven't even taken any Tylenol since then. I don't know why there is such a difference in pain levels - I usually put band aids on paper cuts but this was easy.
  8. I've read the book and followed it. I think Dr. Atkins had more of an agenda in selling books than the US Surgeon General but that's my opinion. I don't want to argue about it either so I will leave it at that.

  10. I'm not! Alcohol wont make or break the evening for me so I will just forgo it this time.
  11. Www.atkinsexposed.org lists all the organizations opposed to the Atkins Diet with citations to where the information can be found. The US Surgeon General, AMA and many others believe it to be dangerous. I know it does work - I've done it several times. I just can't see how cooking in butter, using heavy cream and eating very few vegetables can be a healthy way to go. Obviously, this is just my opinion. My cholesterol went up on Atkins and it took me three months of oatmeal for breakfast to get it back down! We might just have to agree to disagree.
  12. It says you can order directly from the site.
  13. Oh and I bought both types of stock at Whole Foods.

  15. Shrimp is NOT liquid. Your doc said liquids this week. Purée is NOT liquid. I am vegetarian too. I got mushroom stock and low sodium vegetable stock. sugar free Popsicles were good but only two per day. I was only interested in my soy Protein shakes, Water and reduced sugar apple juice the first week.
  16. I did. I would drink a very small glass of reduces sugar apple juice. It may be an anesthesia hangover or lack of calorie issue.
  17. Lance! You're still my hero! I'm hoping for no fills too.
  18. I think this may be a decision only you can make. Can you afford time off? How far are you from Mexico? There are too many other variables that you didn't discuss.
  19. May I suggest that if your band was filled to capacity and you could still eat whatever you like then perhaps there is a problem with the placement of your band?
  20. You already know what you need to do. Just believe in yourself and get back on that wagon!

  22. Hello high cholesterol!
  23. I think I saw a thread on here that said your second or third week post op usually ends up being a "no lose" week. It happened to me too - despite taking in less than 500 calories a day. Scale started moving again yesterday.
  24. My old coverage would have covered my surgery but when I went on Cobra it was not covered. Bummer.
  25. Twinkles , I'm in the same boat. Not hungry at all and my average daily calorie intake is less than 500 calories. My doc says two protein shakes plus three meals of 1/3 cup each at my stage. I'm supposed to increase to 1/2 cup tomorrow. I see people talking about limiting themselves to 1200 calories and I can't imagine getting that amount of calories in under my surgeons plan unless I eat totally unhealthily. So, because my doc didn't talk about a calorie level, I just do the shakes and three meals. I also don't get a feeling of hunger - it's more of a slight headache or tiredness. My tummy is completely silent on the food issue! Prior to surgery I am not sure I ever felt "full" either. I dont feel full now either but I'm not having to white knuckle it either.
