  1. In my opinion the answer is to follow your doctors orders whatever they may be.
  2. Try a soy protein shake instead. Mix with water, not milk. Whey protein does the same thing to me.
  3. Hi Emma, Are you food journaling? How many calories per day are you eating?
  4. It doesn't sound like a stuck episode - more likely than not it was just a not-so-great choice to eat what you did. Pick yourself up, dust off that motivation and move forward. Stick to your post-op plan. You can do it!
  5. I don't know about that exact vicinity but I'm in Sacramento and there is a support group that meets once a month up here.
  6. It is totally normal. Follow your doctors orders and stick to liquids though. Sip sip sip!
  7. Lori, The calorie restriction can really mess with your emotions. It is going to be ok. Just be gentle with yourself. Best wishes.
  8. Good for you, lemonchick! Sounds like you are on a roll! Keep up the good work!
  9. Hi, I would suggest you look at the gallery threads where people post their success stories. There is also a thread for people who have lost over 100 pounds. Why do you think the band won't work forever? Granted, I've only been banded a month but I have yet to feel hunger (and my calorie intake is around 700 a day). I've lost 25 pounds in a month and feel like I could keep doing this forever. You may see posts from people who have had complications - but I hear that most of those complications are rare. I think you should read as much as you can about the procedures. See if you can find a support group in your area - go and speak with people who have had the surgeries done. Your surgeon may prefer one option over another for you health and any comorbidities you might have. I find it is all about being prepared. Doing as much reading as you can will help. Best wishes.
  10. In general, I *think* that frozen dinners tend to have a lot of sodium. If that might be a concern for you, I would ask your surgeon if they are ok with them. I think once in a while is probably ok but daily might be a bit too often.
  11. I am not currently juicing but I used to and have a commerical juicer. One of my favorites is a "Red Eye". It has beets, carrots and apple. Yum. There was also a green goddess recipe I liked. I think it had apple, celery, akkk I can't remember what else but a bit of lemon - I do remember that.
  12. Just so you know - I hear there is commonly a stall in weight loss in the second to third week post op. It happened to me even though my calories were less than 500 per day. Just don't get discouraged. Not trying to be a negative nelly but just wanted to make you aware of it so you can power through it. Best wishes!
  13. I am a month post-op. Haven't vomited and haven't felt nauseous.
  14. I have had the same thing happen to me lately. I was able to avoid scratching them but what seemed to help ALOT was a tiny rub of baby oil on them each morning. It got rid of the glue AND decreased the itchiness. The PA at my surgeon's office suggested it.
  15. I haven't experience that but I read here somewhere that raising your arms above your head or bending over to touch your toes helps. Best wishes that it goes down quickly!
  16. How long have you been banded? Do you have restriction? Why not get some liquid Tylenol and make sure you are hydrated?
  17. For now, I am still on 1/2 cup of food per meal. I am supposed to be ramping up over the next three weeks to 1 cup per meal. No Snacks.
  18. I've had insomnia for 15 years. I take Ambien nightly but I would love to get off of it at some point!
  19. Oh and actually, tomato juice has quite a bit of sodium too.
  20. I have a feeling it could be the sodium in the chicken broth. Don't panic. Weight can sometimes even fluctuate by three pounds a day! The scale will start moving again. [quote name=bthomson' timestamp='1294668986' post='1557792] I was banded on Dec. 29th. I've lost 24 pounds so far, but have not lost an ounce in 5 days. In fact, today I gained one pound. That is very discouraging. I have eaten broth, sugar free Jello, sugar free popcicles, and lots of Water. Last evening I make pizza soup....the onion, garlic, pepper, and mushroom were blended in the "Magic Bullet". The base is tomato juice and fat free chicken broth. I added to my 1 cup portion, 1/4 cup fat free mozzerella cheese. Delicious! However, I gained one pound today. I have begun walking (something I have never done before). Yesterday, I took two walks. Any suggestions why this is happening?
  21. Maybe bump up the amount you eat at dinner slightly? Make sure it is something that will keep your tummy full a bit better.
  22. My surgeons office does skin tightening with a laser. I wouldn't really go for this BUT I have a tiny friend who had twins and had it done on her tummy area. She was beyond thrilled with the results. She actually teaches aerobics and tried everything but the laser treatment worked.
  23. Hahah! It might be strange but it's good! Better than having to drag them behind you!
