    First fill

Thanks for your reply! Honestly, I don't really know if I'm posting to the correct place. I don't find this site very user friendly or perhaps I'm just technically challenged. Anyway, I've posted a blog before and seemed to get better response from that. First-the 4 pounds are gone. Thank you for your encouragement about how much I would have had to consumed to gain an actual 4 pounds. I talked to my nurse and she said it is quite normal with the first adjustment that it doesn't last long. I'm going back in on the 20th to get another fill which should help. I do feel a bit out of control with what I'm eating, though. It seems like since surgery, with or without a fill, my ability to eat much has diminished significantly. This week seems as though I'm eating more than I was. So, I'm going to journal everything I eat to really get a handle on it while I'm waiting for a fill. Again, thanks for your kind and encouraging words. It's so nice to have people to "chat" with that know what I'm experiencing!

    First fill

I had my first fill on Monday and the strangest thing is happening. I actually feel less restricted than I did BEFORE I had a fill and I've put on 4 pounds?! I called my doctor but they were out for the long weekend so I need to wait until Tuesday. I'm down 19 pounds total since my pre-surgery diet (Surgery date 7/23/2010) and as mentioned have gained 4 back since my first fill. I find this very odd-why would I feel less restriction than when I didn't have any cc's in my band? Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks!
  7. Thanks for the friending! I read your blog...don't worry too much, everyone thinks they've 'done something to their band' at least once (or me; several times). I do have to remind you that the time for creating a complication is MUCH more likely during the healing period you're in right now. Bandster Hell sucks, but if you're starving, just remember...TINY meals at this point until your internal stitches heal. Keep in touch and come visit me on my blog- link in my sig (you can comment without an account even, just use 'anonymous' choice). Hope the Doc visit goes well this week and keep getting those fills...Bandster Hell won't last forever, I promise :-) -BG

    Help-three weeks post op!

A friend of mine recently suggested I join this site and I'm so glad I did. I'm really struggling and I'm only 3 weeks post surgery! Reading the posts and knowing I'm not alone has really helped. So-on to my problem. I was moved to the soft, mushy food stage just 10 days post surgery. I went on vacation last week and had a really hard time sticking to the mushy foods only. Talk about feeling like a failure! I'm only 3 weeks out and I can't stick to it! Now-I'm absolutely convinced I've caused my band to slip and I've ruined everything. And-I realize I'm talking in absolutes-which I find is a commonality amongst those who struggle with food issues-we are on or off a diet-we will start tomorrow-I've been bad, might as well be really bad...anyway, I digress. I think part of my problem is I don't feel any restriction or anything. It's like I didn't even have surgery-I feel completely back to "normal". So, instead of sticking just to soft foods-I was trying bites of "normal" foods. All was fine except now I'm convinced I've done something bad-really bad. Am I the only bander out there who had trouble sticking to the soft foods phase? I can't seem to find any definitive answers on what it "feels" like to have your band slip so early on in the process. Is there really a less than 5% chance of it happening? The questions go on and on. I've got an appointment with my doctor on Tuesday-let's hope all is well with the band. But-if you've been here and can relate-I'd love to hear from you. Thanks so much.

    I'm such a failure

I would recommend reading "The Four Day Win" by Martha Beck. She's a life coach and talks about the mental struggle we all have with food. I'm only 3 weeks post surgery and wrestling with so many demons it's unbelievable. I thought I was ready but I'm having trouble staying on my "mushy food" diet. It's terrible. I feel like such a failure and I'm only in week 3! I'm sure these are things each and every one of us have struggled with. I've started the book and it's helping-it's along the lines of what madpendelope talked about with the CT. Good luck & hang in there!

    I need help

I completely understand-how many weeks post surgery are you? If you haven't gone for a fill yet I'm guessing you're less than 6 weeks out. I'm 3 weeks out and am concerned over everything! I took a bite of food (supposed to be on mushy food) and I'm convincing myself I've caused my band to slip! Hang in there. I'm reading a book recommended by a friend- The four day win by Martha Beck. She's a life coach-I think some of what we struggle with is the internal struggle over what we should do and what we actually do. Good luck!

    failure...were you worried??

You must be reading my mind! I am three weeks post surgery and have nearly convinced myself my band has slipped and failure is yet again what I will face. I've talked to a friend of mine who had the surgery as well and she's trying to keep me off the ledge. I blogged yesterday about past failures, etc. And, I think that sometimes for us who battle the weight issues-the thought of success is sometimes scarier than failure simply because we haven't experienced lots of successes with weight loss...it's an unknown. I'm sure you will do fantastically! Good luck!

    Two weeks post-op

I'm three weeks out myself and thoroughly confused. And, I'm worried sick that I'm going to do something to cause my band to slip. I think I've convinced myself I already have! Hang in there! I go to my doctor on Tuesday and hopefully some of my questions will be answered. I've already called my doctors office several times-I would suggest the same if you're really concerned. Good luck!
