  1. hi. i used to get that pain in the throat/chest...... i would even experience it in the a.m when i woke up....... its very frustrating and scary.... but it does go away....... mine was so annoying, when i asked about it not too many people remebered that........ it actually made me think 'what have i gotten myself into' because i thought it was a permanent side effect...... hang in there!
  2. i'm sorry to say this.... i don't want to alarm you....but it can be way worse that the types of infection being mentioned...... but if this has ever happened to anyone please get a HEP C and HIV screening test...... when the needle goes into us, blood is involved.... so as i said before, the bottles won't be sterile but they will also be possibly infected with blood not just the bacterias again, not meaning to alarm anyone, but it's worth your health to be safe
  3. ive been checking every 3 days..... i figured daily is not enough to see a difference, and one week was too long to wait......... so i went half way..... it was fine until now..... i would see a difference..... except for the past couple of weeks........ ive been yo-yo'ing with the same 5 lbs ...... i just had my first fill a week ago......when will i see more results?? im a bit disapointed because i wanted to lose more before my birthday coming up........ ive lost 20 lbs including pre-op.... granted its 20 less than ive been in a while... but somehow i thought it would be more.
  4. oops....... sorry, my reply was redundant.... i just noticed you have already had the procedure....
  5. maybe your work place will let you use your sick time benefits for any time off you need for recovery...... my occupational health department never heard of the band before and when i went to them explained what it all was.... they decided to allow me to use my time off as 'sick time'.... which in my case is paid. at lease it was some source of income.....
  6. i hate cotage cheese as well..... what i did was eat yogurt and Jello... as well as the allowed drinks..... milk really fills u up a little trick i tried was to eat a different kind of yogurt at different meals...... too much sweetness got to me after a couple of days, so for dinner i had plain yogurt......at lunch i had the fruity one
  7. some of the hotels there are expenive.... 4 seasons, hyatt etc.... but as someone said, there is a holiday inn on bloor and there is a howard johnson on avenue.... both are just a couple short blocks away
  8. when getting your blood drawn, if the technologist does not get into the vein the first time.... the remove and re insert to get the vein.... right? they don't change the needle in this case...... this is a similar idea in re-using the fill needle i believe..........(which i am totally against by the way) BUT the problem lies here re: spreading infection....... how do they draw the saline fill solution into that dirty needle??? i am sure each client does not have their own bottle... i am sure a large size bottle is used for everyone..... so if this dr. is sticking everyone's needles into the same bottle..... i dont even want to know the consequences.....also in this case.... it will make the saline non sterile as well, and i think anything going into ur body should be sterile. also, someone said that canada's government run health care may be lax....... i assure u, this is not a normal practice
  9. hi there. after my surgery, i took 3 wks off work....... it was a personal choice, because i wanted to be as healed as possible before going back... i didnt want to take any chances with getting a hernia. so i'm now 7 wks post-op...... and feel like 'normal' except for the amount of food i can eat. (i have not had a fill yet) the first few days were the worst..... i only needed the pain medication for the 1st day..... i was able to sleep normally after about a week (able to turn on my side)..... and tolerated the suggested diet plan as it was prescribed surgery is different for everyone... i do not have a problem with anaesthesia, but some people have a bad reaction to it..... i think it's diffcult to say there is a certain way every patient will recover so, no there was not a severe impact except for the diet change.
  10. i'm going for my first fill on tuesday and looking forward to it. but as i was thinking..... i had forgotten that the dr. probably uses a needle to do the fill...... my question is, does it hurt???? do they need a local anaesthetic??? how does this work....
  11. she had it removed in october...... i remember seeing a news clip about it while i was waiting in a doctor's office i wonder what they will say about it
  12. today i had my first (and hopefully last... but somehow i doubt it...) PB. it was so peculiar.... at first i thought what i had a bite of was too dry, so i sipped some coffee.... and then about 10 min later i had a 2nd bite...... and it was all still stuck in my throat..... i remembered what everyone wrote about what it is, so i didnt't panic... but i still didnt know it was a PB. it took at least 10 min.... the whole time i didn't know what to do with myself.. i was at work... so i started walking around a bit, kept trying to swallow... i almost asked for a hymleck manouver.... lol..... still i wasn't panicked, because i work in a hospital and my co-workers were near by if i needed to anounce anything.... not that i could really talk in the end i went to the bathroom, at the point where i could tell it was about to come out... coughed ever so slightly and there it was...... ew!!! i couldn't shake the bizarre feeling for a while...... i wasn't sure if it was going to happen again or not..... needless to say i threw my breakfast in the garbage!!! i also wondered if it could have been because i may have still been full from the night before...... i had a very late dinner...... just needed to vent. thanks. :sick
  13. hi there, i am not a doctor, but i know you can develop stones in the bile duct even after you have had your gallbadder removed. and yes it's teh same type of attack. hopefully you go see your doctor, they can check it out with a blood test and an ultrasound. good luck!
  14. Hi Everyone, I'm a November person too. Congrats to you all for your various successes. I only felt 'sick' for the first 2 days and I only needed pain meds for the day of surgery and twice the next day.... but it was mostly so I can sleep. It's been 2 weeks and I feel pretty good. What's happening to me now is that the time isn't going by fast enough so I can see results lol. My first fill isnt until Jan. and this is making me nervous waiting that long due to holidays and getting the feeling that I can eat more and more as I heal. I'm doing my best to stay under control though! Can I also ask a question? I have been getting an occasional, but daily, pain in my throat coming up from my chest.... what's that? I tried to see when it is occuring... and I think it's a few hrs after I eat....... or in the morning...... what's that???
  15. hello everyone, i had my surgery on nov 15/06. sorry if this question has been asked before but it's way too may hreads to go through..... i've been experiencing this pain/discomfort in my throat and a bit lower in my chest. it's not constant and not necessarily if i've eaten something. i notice it in the morning, later in the day etc... what is it? i thought it might be gas, but i don't burp with it, and would i still be gassy 2-3 weeks post -op?
