  1. I've been losing mine for a few weeks, I was banded 4 months ago. I have a TON of hair, so it's not that noticeable, but it's normal...
  2. For me, my mind isn't satisfied with 6 bites of food... Also I can't see how we would be getting proper nutrition from 6 bites of food you know? I probably could eat much much less and still not be hungry though. But it about calories to some degree, if you are eating 300-400 calorie meals, high in protein every 4 or 5 hours you shouldn't be hungry. But if you can eat a lot, you need something lower calorie that is larger to satisfy your appetite. If I ate 6 bites of anything but like pure protein, I'd be hungry in less than 5 hours. Yea me too. I'm thinking this whole process must be insanely different for each person. Or everyone reacts differently to it.
  3. That's great @Irishlapbandgirl 900-1200 calories a day, and at least 60grams of Protein a day. It doesn't matter if you do low carb or whatever, people chose to do those things by choice. Your diet is #1, if you don't follow it you won't lose weight, the band is just there to help you from being hungry.
  4. The fills take a couple of weeks to fully take effect. Just monitor your hunger level and see if it decreases. For me, I had my first fill of 5.5ccs, I felt about the same, then a few weeks later my hunger was gone, almost completely. Also if you had a really small fill.. like 1 or 2ccs you may not feel anything.. but it takes a while for your body to figure it all out.
  5. It's different for everyone! Some people eat a lot, some eat very very little. I eat typically a cup to two cups of food per meal. You are looking to be able to go 4 or 5 hours without hunger. It's not really about how much you eat. Mainly it's just important to watch your calories keep it at 900-1200 a day.. I can certainly tell you chicken strips, ribs, french fries and bacon are not part of a healthy diet... It's important to get nutritious things in when you eat so little.
  6. LOL exactly. I don't know about everyone else, but I eat fairly normally at meal times, it's not like I eat 2 bites of food. I eat a meal.. I eat what I can. It doesn't look like I'm eating nothing. If you are worried just have Soup or something, or say something.. I probably would say something. It's something they are going to have to accept if they want to date you.
  7. You shouldn't gain it back, though when you start transitioning into food you may gain a couple or pounds, or not lose. But don't worry it's normal, your body is readjusting to food. You've lost 41lbs in a week? or 41lbs since January? You don't feel better already after 10 day? Can you get up and go out and do things? I know being on liquids sucks, but physically you should be able to do that by day 4 or 5. You should feel better once you can eat some food. The only main rule is follow a 900-1200 calorie diet, and get in as much protein as possible, that helps keep you full. Some people do low carb..whatever works for you. It should get easier after you start getting filled, and your hunger goes away.
  8. all normal, any pain not in your stomach is from gas they use to blow up your stomach during surgery. Everything settles down after 3-4 days
  9. I eat them, but I try not too.. it's not very filling, and any salad with good things on it, and good dressing can have 1500 calories. But I don't think anything on a salad would make me sick.
  10. That's soo fast!! congrats mandy! Hope you feel better though!
  11. I never had that.. I think they want you to make your own. But it's kind of implied to reach a BMI where you are healthy.
  12. Some people do, some don't. I don't do low carb. BUT you need to get your protein in first and formost, if you can eat carbs too, go ahead. Some people find they lose more weight on a low carb diet.
  13. I think it could help.. I'm just not sure. How are they going to mentally tell me to stop eating.. I mean for me, I just like food.. I don't think I'm hiding anything, and I didn't have a traumatic event in my life that caused my weight gain. I mean I think I can get through it myself. But if you feel you need it, go for it!
  14. Nice! I know I've been saying that. It helped me a lot after surgery. It just feels good
  15. No, but I know it's up to me how much I lose, if I give up it's my fault, not my bands... I do understand exactly why people can't reach their goals. They can't get over the food addiction.
  16. It doesn't make a difference... i flew a few weeks ago, and ate didn't have a problem. It's a myth.
  17. I would say don't focus on your fills so much, just evaluate your body and see what it's saying. My doc didn't even want to tell me how much he put in, he said don't worry about that, just follow your diet. I think people are too focused on the amount in there, when there isn't a set answer.
  18. Sorry to tell you, the burping never really goes away... I mean it's not painful or annoying anymore, but i can still burp on command, and it's worse if I eat too much.
  19. I had the worst cold the week before surgery, and they said it should be ok. I was feeling maybe 85% better by the time I had it. They just ran it by the anesthesiologist and my surgeon before had. Definitely call your doctor. So at least they know.
  20. LOL weird.. but I do use one at home, helps me take smaller bites.
  21. Well, everyones different... If you are having trouble getting Protein down are you maybe too tight? Everyone eats different. I get about 4oz of protein per meal, then if i can fit in anything else I add that in.
  22. Breakfast: I had 2 eggs sunny side up, with 1 light english muffin Lunch: Should be the left over chicken salad in my fridge with 2 flat bread crackers dinner Either a lean cuisine pizza (omg these are good I'm obsessed with them), or 4 turkey meatballs with mozzarella cheese and marinara and knowing me, probably a stop for some Pinkberry somewhere in there
  23. Yes, if you are still hungry all the time then you need another fill. You will definitely know when it starts working the hunger drops off. Protein shakes for a meal are fine, but is that ALL you have? Cause they have a lot of calories. If you are eating your protein for breakfast, lunch, and dinner you should be getting in all your protein.
  24. 1. Probably the port! ahha. 2. You said it, "you know you are eating too much" that is why you aren't losing weight.. 900-1200 calories or it won't go anywhere. Simple math. 1/2 hour of cardio isn't burning 3500 calories required to lose a pound. 1/2 hour of cardio burns maybe 200-300 calories... depending on intensity 3. The food goes through. I would imagine It kind of piles up on top and trickles down into your stomach. You aren't hungry because your band is pressing on your vagus nerve which prevents the hunger hormone from being released. It doesn't sit there for 4 hours. 4. I don't know what to tell you except if you don't follow the 1200 calorie diet, you won't lose weight. There is no way around it. I can eat whatever I want, and I can eat a decent amount of food. But, I don't, or I will gain weight. If you are still hungry then you need another fill... or make sure 100% it's not mental, 90% of this battle is mental.
