September 22nd Sleevers
Tiff, have you tried the Scop Patches (put it behind the ear)? I just saw it in the thread and it reminded me what they gave me before I entered surgery. It was for nausea. Maybe that'll work better. Just a thought. ~Sai

September 22nd Sleevers
*I meant your recovery Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App No, but only because I told them that I have a history of being nauseous, motion sickness, car sickness, boat sickness, you name it hehe. What they did was prescribe me Ondansetron (dissolve in mouth tablets) so I took that every 4-6 hrs or as needed. It really really helped.I have those as well. I still have about 3 hours before I can take another Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Ah kk, that sucks. I hope you feel better soon... To me, nothing is worse than nausea .

September Sleevers!
Hey September sleevers ^^ Had a 9/2/2016 band to sleeve revision. Other than the first day, it's been a good recovery. It's a totally different feeling than the band which I had for like 8 years, so it's going to take some getting used to but no complaints so far.

September 22nd Sleevers
Band to Sleeve revision on the 2nd of Sept. so today is my post op day 22. I too had to climb stairs on the day I came home. I don't ever remember it lol, as I did everything in a daze that day. I had it done outpatient, check in at 5 am, surgery at 7am, released at 4 pm. Recovery has been good. Only tough day was the when I first woke up after surgery, and I felt like I got ran over by a truck or two or three. Day 2 I slept all day. Thanks for asking.

3wks out tacos?
I think the OP is long gone from the topic. It's now become fodder for the rest of us. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Ah, yeah I see she is posting other topics, but then perhaps someone new reading the question may get something of the post. The link is pretty good ^^ but thanks.

3wks out tacos?
Hi SDC, yeah, I guess you can guess that tacos at 3 weeks wouldn't be a good idea. Do talk to your nutritionist and/or surgeon when you can start incorporating solid foods on your plan. If there is anything one will learn on this forum is that there are huge differences between surgeons/nutritionists/people opinions. Some go low carb, others prefer balanced... blahblahblah. hehe Once you're cleared for solids, may I suggest some healthy taco recipes. I had the band for a long time (been a member since 2010), and often enjoyed healthy tacos. I just recently revised to the sleeve due to issues with the band, so I'm still in the pureed stage. So like you, no tacos for me. However, in the future, here are some ideas. Hope this helps. http://www.self.com/story/3-ridiculously-delicious-and-healthy-summer-taco-recipes

What to tell people?
I told everyone I'm having a surgery done and need time to recover but wasn't specific. Only one pushed for details (I think most are concerned about their own life and just hope you are safe and well), and I said to fix an old problem. No lies on my part. I've always been a private person by nature. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

How long did you stay out of work
At day 4, I was good to go back too but didn't. I preferred relaxing at home reading this forum and other sources. It's an exciting time for me . Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Things you wish you had known before WLS
That a swollen stomach (i.e. Healing) and the extra acid your stomach produces (due to having a 80% removed) mimics hunger. My first week I was surprised when I felt hungry, but after looking it up, it was an "ahh, ok" moment and helped me deal with it better. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Help! Need advice for sleeved family member
Even though I agree that he is the only one that could change his ways, I think since your mom believes you are the only one that may be able to make him see the light, it's totally worth a try or two or three. I was close to my dad, and the only one that could talk to him too before he passed, and so I hold these types of relationships close to my heart. Perhaps tell him that you're worried about his health (which you are), and that WLS isn't just to lose weight but to get healthier and that you want him to be around as long as possible. I'm sure it's tough for you, and I hope you can help him. *hugs*

New to the forum from Dallas!
Welcome . I'm 3 weeks post-op band to sleeve revision, had the lap band before that for 8 years. I think the best way to deal with frustrations pre and post is to keep "hanging out" on the forum here. People are really nice & love to answer any questions. One can learn a lot just reading the forums on a daily basis. Best wishes on your journey. ^^

So far not one restaurant honors my card.

Pre-op required type of Protein
I was forced (yes forced lol) to buy 3 tubs of a certain type of Protein shake. They all contained sucralose, and I have stopped sucralose years ago. I gave them away, and used another. So yeah, I feel ya.

My family is freaking out
Maybe show them lots of before and afters, and some videos from Dr. Alvarez (I didn't go to him but I love his videos hehe), and also let them see the reviews?

Can't get protein shake down !
Several different types of proteins out there, maybe switch to plant protein or another type that will go with your current tummy?

List of Q's for surgeon?
I asked so many questions, and still do, I think they hate when I call them haha. In the beginning I asked: Size of bougie, do they remove the fundus completely, can I add ground flaxseed to my shakes (been doing that for years for fiber), how long do I stay in hospital, can you give me nausea controlled meds before i wake up, pre and post op diet calorie and carb goals, what will be my MTV (maximum tolerated volume) of my stomach after surgery, the drinking Water rule with Protein shakes... Too name a few o.O hehe Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

Eating at 5 weeks post op
solid food or pureed, or both? I'm only 3 weeks out, and I can eat 1/4 pureed easy (unfortunately hehe). I have heard there is a huge difference between pureed and solid feelings of full. Thanks. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
