  1. Since getting the band I have noticed that I get terrible brain freeze. It happens when I drink very cold items thru a straw like an Icee or Milk shake. It works out well because you dont want to eat these things after this happens. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just a coincidence that this is now happening after I have been banded?
  2. I was just curious when everyone started losing weight? Was it after you hit the sweet spot with your band? I was banded 3/14 and have only lost around 20lbs, was just curious if that will pick up once I have the right fill in my band. Thanks
  3. I am 5 weeks post op and have only lost 8-10lbs (depends what day it is..lol). I have been very hungry lately. Next Monday I will get my first fill. Is it normal to have just lost that little bit of weight. I feel like this isnt going to work for me at this rate. After the fill will I possibly start seeing more results??
  4. I prefer Unjury, it has a great flavor. I like the chocolate classic but they also have Chocolate Splendor, Vanilla, Strawberry Sorbet, Chicken Soup and Unflavored. The Strawberry Sorbet is good mixed with crystal light lemonade. The Vanilla is good mixed with coffee. The Chocolate I typically mix with 1T peanut butter, half bannana and 8oz skim milk. It is also good just mixed with skim milk . The shipping is super fast too.
  5. Hi GuyGuys1. I had surgery Monday and I had a heital hernia repaired along with the lapband. I am not in that much pain it sounds pretty much like the pain most people experienced with just having lap band installed. The only problem I am having is getting up and down I have pain at my port site. I am sure you will do great. Best of Luck to ya.
  6. I got my band on Monday. My stomach is also growling like crazy. I have no desire to eat. I have tried my best to get my protein shakes (Unjury) in starting today, but man they make me SOO full. Just ignore your tummy growling its just getting used to all the changes. Don't eat just because it is growling. Best of Luck!
  7. Well I am offically banded now. Everything went well. I am not in too much pain. I would say the only thing that hurts is where my port is located. The Dr said they have to do a little more prying in that area to get it in place and its a larger incision in that area. I would say the worst part is trying to get that nasty barium down for your xray...blah. Thank goodness I havent had much gas pain and I have yet to be hungry. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers that were sent my way! Good luck to all of you that have upcoming surgery dates.
  8. Monday I will be getting my band. I haven't told any of my family, the only person that knows is my husband. I am getting super nervous now! I know I can do this. I just ask everyone to say a little prayer for me since my family that usually prays for me will not be praying for this event since they have no idea! THANKS EVERYONE!!
  9. The lady at the DR office said she called them and the insurance company has now "found" my 6 mths of supervised diet. Now all they need is proof of my weight in those 5 yrs. Out of 5 yrs I went to the DR twice once back in 2006 and once in the beginning of 2010. I did not do Weight Watcher or anything in the years in between. Luckily they are now saying I can submit photos and they will go from there. SO everyone please say a little prayer for me!!
  10. I got the letter today saying I was denied for lap band surgery by BCBSAL: the reason was I did not have 5 years worth of recorded weight (I didnt have insurance during all 5 years) but I did submit photos with it as they requested. They also said I did not have 6 months of supervised weight loss which i just completed in January?? After you are denied how long does it typlically take for it to be reviewed again??
  11. KatyinLasVegas I really enjoy your videos on YouTube. I was curious how tall you are, because you didnt look like you weighed 300+ before surgery. You are doing a great job keep up the good work.
  12. Mom_in_MN the diet is going well. I have lost 7lbs so far. My insurance will not allow me to get below 40 bmi before the end of the 6mth supervised diet. They say if you can get below that then you should just stick to the program you are on to continue to lose weight. (CRAZY!) So I can only lose 13 more pounds. Hopefully our 6mths will fly by and before we know it, it will be surgery day!!
  13. It was a requirement of my insurance. I havent heard of too many surgeons requiring you to do a diet unless it was a required by your insurance. Hopefully you wont have to and you will be on your way to surgery. Best of Luck!!
  14. Well I had my first meeting with surgeon today. Everything went well..I have to do 6mth supervised diet before I can get surgery but I have already started so I am looking to be banded in January. Can't wait!! After hearing all the horror stories about the preop diet I was told that they do not require it if your under 400lbs. Thank Goodness!!!
  15. I was told to take in a log of exercise and eating habits for my first medically supervised visit, what all should or did you include in the log?? Should I list all three meals, snacks and exercise?
