  1. You are going to be a supermodel!!!! Taller is better because you can weigh more and get away with it and still look skinny! I am not weighing either. Some people say they actually gain like 10-15 pounds after surgery from swelling, water retention, etc and that is one roller coaster I don't want to get on. Also, you gain a little when you go on solids so I think I will gauge by my clothes, which are fitting loser. I will weigh in after I start solids. I would rather be surprised than disappointed.
  2. I was banded the same day as another patient and she is purreeing enchiladas and tamales!!!! A big no no from our nutrionist. I have also heard if you tell them you have low energy and are starving, they may let you add some other foods. I am getting used to the convenince of liquids. I also have one more week of liquids, so we can do it together! I am sticking to his rules just because i wouldn't want something bad to happen to my Bandy! Also, I know I will lose weight following his rules. My friend says she is not losing weight, but if you are eating enchiladas, tamales and other high calorie/fat foods, you will not lose because the calories add up.
  3. I have not heard from Sunshine2. She used her computer from work to post most of the time. But, I am sure she will post from home when she can. You are almost in Bandland!!!!:clap2:
  4. I get this feeling like i am full to my throat and if I take 1-2 small bites over, I get nauseous. I also make sure I put my liquid or spoon down in between bites and try to see how i feel. I am also trying to stop at content and these days that is easy since I am not hungry like I used to be. i also find if I get my liquids in, constantly sipping, I am not too hungry.
  5. I LOVE IT!!! The 60 rule!!!
  6. My doctor has a full 3 weeks of liquids. I am full after 1 cup of creamy soup or even coffee. I just get this feeling like i am full up to my throat, like it will back up on me. I also get nauseous if I have 1-2 even small bites past full. I have heard that pressure at the ribcage is full. Anything past and you might PB so I would be to scared to go past that. I am sure full for me will feel different after I start solid/mushies in a week. I almost pb'd on soup and it was HORRIBLE!!! I felt extremely nauseous like I wanted to throw up and was salivating a lot. I hated it!
  7. That is funny!!!! We are truely becoming bonded by banding!!! I really enjoyed the chocolate Myoplex. It is chocolatey, but not too chocolatey and it has no protein after taste. It tastes pretty smooth. One is 17 oz and it takes me 3 times to finish one, so all day! They come in 4 packs, but I bought a case from Sams. :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:
  8. How are you doing??
  9. I am struggling too to get enough in. Who ever would have thought, certainly not me!! I barely get like 700-800 calories in if I have to be out of the house. The only way I have hit 1000 calories is if I am home eating all day.I can only take 1 cup of liquid before hitting a place that I know I will start to feel nauseous. I did it again last night trying to get some creamy split pea in because I needed the calories. I took two more bites over and got a little nauseous and knew I HAD to stop. I love my band!
  10. The way I have been getting most of my protein is by creamy split pea soup. I can is 18 grams of protein. Also, adding 1 cup soy milk to my coffee (breakfast for me these days). I have a lot of restriction still 2 weeks post op. I can have even less than a cup if it is cold. Beans and lentils pureed also have a lot of protein and adding shredded cheese.
  11. I bought a lot of samples of Nectar Protein drinks. They are fruity and taste really good so far. You can buy them on bariatriceating.com I bought Fuzzy Navel. It tastes like Tang. I bought Strawberry Kiwi and mixed with Silk vanills soy it tastes like a milk shake, even frothy. I havent tried the other ones yet, bought like 8 samples. I like the Myoplex shakes. They are good and have 43 grams of protein for one. I'd buy Slim fast for convenience, but they give me gas. I heard they have come out with some new ones that don't give gas, but I haven't seen them. I do notice a difference in my pants feeling looser. I just am afraid to weigh myself.
  12. Your clothes won't be tight for long!!! My pants are definitely getting looser by the day!! Your band baby will be born in 13 days!!!:clap2:
  13. Wolfgang Pucks is really good. I like them both, but the Better than Boullion is made from meat and even has itty bitty little pieces of meat in it. You are going to be there before you know it!!! Your belly band will be born!!!
  14. I'd like to start a South Beach Daily. When do you guys want to start? Before banding or after? Or now?
  15. Hey, it's okay to love your band. We owe them so much. :clap2:
  16. I dont' have any pain anymore either!!! YYAAAYYY:clap2: I do still have a lot of restriction and can't eat enough to get over 850 calories a day. I am striving for 1000, but I feel nauseous if I eat over a cup. I am trying to get some creamy split pea down, even added some yummy nacho cheese to it. I ate a cup, had two litte bites more and Bandy is telling me to STOP. One more bite and I am going to be sick. I already feel slightly nauseous.
  17. There actually is an AA for food called OA for Overeaters Anonymous.I used to go. It would be good to go. I may go to a meeting with one of my friends who was struggling. Do you need a fill? Maybe that is why you are able to get the food in. I can barely eat or I fee like I am getting nauseous. And I am trying to so I can get some calories in. This is a good place. I journal everyday, what I eat, how I feel and this group keeps each other accountable. The bandster rules are very important my doctor has told me to be successful faster. :welcome2:
  18. I am 2 weeks post op and still restricted.:clap2: I have trouble finishing a cup of creamy split pea soup. I have trouble getting enough calories in and I am really trying to. I even bought some of that yummy nacho cheese you put on nachos and put a tablespoon into my creamy soups! It is good!!! I think I only got about 750 calories in today.
  19. Welcome!!! I don't think the Swedish band is going to be approved here anytime soon, as I think people would be talking about it. There are a few banded here with Swedish bands. In the little I tried to poke around, they seem very similar. I bought Dr. Ortiz's book and I will look there to see if he says anything about the Swedish band, I think I recall he does. We mostly all here, have the Inamed band. You may want to post on the main thread calling all swedish bandsters!!! But, you are welcome to this thread since no matter what band you get, you are a lower bmi. Lower bmi's tend to have a little different issues than higher bmi's, like slower weight loss.:welcome2: Audree
  20. I am actually going to go back to school, online to finish my BA in psychology. My goal is to get my MA in social work. I have always wanted to work with marriage and family. I was orginally going to get my MA in Marriage and Family Counseling, but someone told me I'd have more options to get my MA in social work. I have never thought about working with people that have struggled with their weight like I have. Now, with all I have gone through and getting banded, meeting all of you, I think I may have found another calling!!
  21. Yeah, the Airbornee saved me!!! Wow, there are a lot of us Dr. Ortiz patients. He is awesome!@!!
  22. When did you have your surgery? I am 2 weeks post op now. I struggle to get in 1000 calories. It has been more like 800. I was hoping that the restriction I got from surgery would last me to at least the 6 week point so I could get a fill if needed. I have the 4cc band. I wonder if Dr. Ortiz adds a little to the band. I have heard some doctors do.
  23. Here is a video of the WHOLE surgury in detail. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3190472028990485080&q=lap+band&hl=en It made me stick to my pre op diet, since you need to shrink your liver so they can lift it out of the way
  24. A lot of people gain after having the band taken out.I was told it is for life unless you slip,, erode or have acid reflux problems.
