  1. Yeah, I was a lot more careful with my portions and the water rules! I am sipping on a Myoplex Ready to drink shake. It is quite good. Not to chocolaty and not proteiny tasting. My calories were really low today, about maybe 500 or so, so far. I just don't want to get sick again. Audree
  2. WOW!!!! What type of preop did you have?? My starting weight was 185, surgery was postponed and I gained 5 pounds over Christmas putting me at 190, so my pre op only brought me down to 186. I lost no weight pre op, but gained!!!!:faint: I think that is one of the reasons I don't want to weigh myself. I see all of you guys lost most of the weight pre op and I gained. So, I am afraid when I weigh, I wouldn't have lost more than a few pounds!!!! I am post op day 11. What kinds of eating plan are you following???
  3. I feel soooo much better today!! How are you doing!!!
  4. I AM SOOOOOO relieved that I am not the only one!!! I thought you guys were going to think I was nuts:faint: My Bandy is my new best friend too!!! :laugh :laugh :laugh :laugh :laugh :laugh :laugh
  5. Hi Sara!!! I am glad to hear you are doing so well!!! I am post op day 11 and feeling great! It is so funny how all the doctors are so different, especailly post op. I was told to have liquids for 3 weeks so the stomach could heal, avoiding the stomach churning when digesting chucnks. :welcome2:
  6. WOW, I didn't even know they had something like that. As long as it can go through a straw, we can have it! If it is the creamy one, you can!!
  7. I think the type of liquid vitamins we are taking are a lot better than chewable childrens. But, if that is all someone can take, I guess it is better than nothing.
  8. I just wanted to tell you about these liquid vitamins I get from Sams Club. If you do a search you can find them online too, better than chewable Flinstones. 9. I buy the Silk brand and it makes my shakes taste really good! I am lactose intolerant with regular milk. I also read somewhere that soy helps to firm the skin!!!:clap2:

One bottle cost $19 at Sams Club.I found it online too If you do a search, you can get them online too for like $25 I think.
  12. Everytime I talk to you guys,I want to call my band "she". It is so funny! I decided to call her Bandy!!!!! I love my Bandy!!! She has really kept me in line and I already feel like I owe her a name. Is that funny?:biggrin1:
  13. HI Charlotte! Yeah, I was a self pay too and when I paid, that is when it felt REAL! I love being banded!!!
  14. I heard the Myoplex ones are good! I just bought some. Haven't tried it, but I will let you know! Also if you go to bariatriceating.com they have these protein shakes that are fruity called Nectars. The fuzzy navel tastes like tang. I also bought strawberry kiwi and mixed it with vanilla soy milk and it tastes like a strawberry milkshake!!!
  15. I am doing great today! I am now scared to eat over a cup and still am taking my time eating the liquid, putting the spoon down. I am glad you can learn from my mistake. I am glad I learned before graduating to solids in 11 days! I had a little coffee in the morning. Lunch was pureed homemade beans with a lot of juice, only 1 cup and I felt full. Funny to get full on a cup of bean water with a few pureed beans in it!!! I followed the bandster rules of not drinking 1 hour before/after or during my bean water and I felt good. I am now drinking some crystal light, little sips. I was guzzling it yesterday! How did I forget about my band? I had temporary amnesia!!! I have a can of V8 for the trip to go pick up my daughters from school, again I will take small sips as I am counting it as a meal. Welcome New Bandsters and Bandsters to be!!! How are we all today???
  16. I think I am brain dead right now due to lack of calories!! What do you mean?
  17. It was Campbelss Select Clam Chowder in the little red mircrowavable bowl. I should have had only half of it though!!!
  18. Yeah, I feel much better today! I am able to have 8 oz at a time. Anything else makes me feel uncomfortable.
  19. Mommi-Hammi: Didn't it feel awful!!! Hey, at least I know my baby band is working it for me! I feel much better today. I am going to start measuring my food. No more than 1 cup at a time. I had two cups yesterday and that was way too much even if just liquid! I haven't eaten much today. I feel very satisfied on smaller amounts. I was just eating with my eyes yesterday and not thinking. My band ( I keep on wanting to call my band she. I almost want to name her!) is still pretty restricted in the morning and night. I also needed to vary my diet more. I went out and bought a case of V8. It actually has less sodium than a cup of broth. I bought some yummy flavors in Crystal Light (rasberry ice, orange sunshine or something like that), Some Myoplex pre made shakes so when I am on the go (1 has 43 grms of Protein, but they are big so I am going to only drink 1/2 at a time), some El Paso Soups to puree and some Hormel chili. I am on day 11 of post op. I feel very healthy, no pain at all. I do feel a "tight" feelilng in my abdomen when I turn too fast or try to pick something up over 5 pounds. I feel happier to have more food choices. I also need to hydrate myself. I always feel miserable when I am not drinking enough. I was good today and didn't drink for an hour before/after/durning my meal. How are you all doing???
  20. I used Dr. Ortiz, who is a world renouned surgeon. He has done over 4000 and has trained many of the doctors in the US on the procedure. If you go go my journal, I have saved all I found when doing me own search. The whole experience was great!
  21. I don't know who ev is but i think 1 week is more than enough. It was for me! But if you can take an extra week with pay, I'd do it!Audree
  22. I need a plan of action. I am officially burned out on cream soups. I need to focus on not eating the same food over and over until I get soooo burned out on it. I need to buy some V-8 in regular and spicy, try all of my new Nectar protein drinks, try different liquids like juice or the soy drinks that are sugar free. I am also making a pot of homemade beans with a lot of water. I put them to boil for an hour and am now putting them in the crock for the rest of the night on high, with some sea salt, beef boullion and some chili bean spices. The juice will be really good. I need to try new things. I can start on mushy/solids on day 22 and that is not that long from now. Someone also told me to transition into solids on day 22 with mushies so I can avoid PBing. I have some instant mash potatoes that I have been waiting to eat. I can make lentils, my famous refried black beans, the ricotta and spaghetti thing... I am half way there. I need to use this time to learn. Learn and apply the bandster rules. No drinking 1/2 hour before, not during and not for an hour after. I need to take my time, chew, take no more than a cup at a time and wait. I don't want to feel sick like I did. I don't want to PB. I need to use this time also to let myself lose weight that can only be dropped doing liquids, as much as I can. I know a few will come back on once solids are reintroduced, but that is okay. I need to make sure I am getting enough calories. I also need to watch my liquids because liquid calories are so easy to rack up. breakfast: 1/2 cup of gano mocha coffe/soy milk; 100 cal, 3 g. protein lunch: 1 cup of bean liquid with a small amount of pureed pinto beans, a touch of shredded cheese. I can only guess on the calories; 100 cal, 5 grams of protien Dinner: tortilla soup; 200 calories snack: bean soup/laughing cow; 150 cal snack; myoplex, 8 oz; 150 Total calories: 700 Liquids: 5 ounces water, 20 ounces crystal light, 20 ounces crystal light snack: V8; 70 calories, 3 g protien exercise: walked around Sams for about 1/2 hour Feeling/mood: I feel very good today. I am taking it slow in regards to eating and am going to measure 1 cup at a sitting. I am keeping something to drink by me at all times, except near meal time, and I feel that is helping a lot with hunger pangs. I have not had to take my appetite suppresant, but I have it just in case I need it (QuickSlim 30). I still have not weighed myself. I feel thinner, face it thinner, fingers are thinner. I am so happy I did this. I also named my band today. Her name is Bandy! I feel I owe her so much! When I try to get out of line, there she is ready to pull me back.

  25. The Reverse Diet!!! At the heart of The Reverse Diet is the old adage eat like a king for breakfast, a prince for lunch, and a pauper for dinner, The Reverse Diet is a weight loss plan that focuses on changing the times of day when you consumme your calories. The large number of calories that are consummed in the evening at dinner are reversed with the low number of calories that are consummed at breakfast. This simple switch or reversal will significantly effect how your body uses calories. Breakfast is normally followed by an entire day of physical activity where the calories are burned, while dinner is normally followed by a long period of inactivity. There is no rocket sceince here, only basic, sensible low-fat nutrition used in a more efficient manner. The main drawbacks are practicality if you have a family or other constraints. Also, most people don't have much of an appetite in the morning. The third drawback, and perhaps the biggest, is the long-term viability of such a strategy. Do you plan on following such a regimen indefinately? If not, you fall into the common curse of diets and weight loss programs: once the diet ends most people slide back into their old ways of living and the weight comes back. Having said all this, you could do much worse in choosing a weight loss plan than the Reverse Diet. So, we say, we already had our big meal in the morning, if we are meeting for lunch our reverse diet lunch is soup and dinner is the smallest meal of all!!! I give this one a thumbs up!!! <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
