  1. My Dr. office sent in my info. to ins. on March 17th and got my approval back March 22nd. WooHoo. I wanted to be banded in April too but it looks like it will be in May. O well, I've waited this long, it wont hurt me to wait a little longer. Good luck with your journey!!
  2. I so know what you are going thru, I go to my Dr. April 6th to schedule my surgery date. I am getting cold feet myself. I know I will be so much healther and be able to do things I couldnt do before. I just don't like having surgery period but I have decided that I have been heavy long enough.. I have always been the "fat chic". All my friends were skinny and I always got picked last in everything. I am doing this for me and no one else. It's time to get healthy and for me, to be on this earth long enough to see my grandchildren have children and be happy. I worry about "what could happen" but I also know what will happen if I don't loose this weight. I just had a very dear friend pass away on Sunday and that just made me realize how short life really is. It's time for us to live our lives to the fullest, I can't wait!!!!!! Sending my prayers your way that God will give you peace, calm your nerves and be with you thru out this entire thing.
  3. I understand completely, I have an assistant at work that is constantly bringing me snacks and junk food ever since I told her I was going to have the Lapband surgery. She even made the comment " it doesnt matter if you do have the surgery you will never be smaller than me". Isn't that awful, I have friends that have had the surgery and I encouraged them, not try to sabatoge them. I can't believe how people react when I tell them I am having it done, they act like I'm going to have my head cut off or something. It looks like they would be happy for us that we are trying to loose weight and get healthy. Some People.........
  4. I too started this process in August and should have my surgery date by now. My problem is my Drs. Office. They say my chart is in storage and they don't have time to get it to get my passed 3yrs weights for the ins. co. I am getting so frustrated. I know I can do the pictures but it would be alot better if I could get my weights from the Dr. Congrats on your date and good luck. Praying everything goes great for ya.
  5. I had all my lab work done today, all that's left is submitting the paper work to my ins. co. Excited and nervous all at the same time.
  6. I have 4 bulging discs in my back and I have been taking Lortab 10 for about 3yrs, I am going to have the lapband surgery and was wondering if anyone else had this problem and will I have problems taking them. They are time release and cannot be crushed. I am hoping that when I loose some weight I can get off some of the meds. Please advise!
  7. Well,I haven't had the band yet. hopefully in Feb. or March but when I do and this comes I will just say " no thanks I had the lap band surgery and I can't eat that". I have been very open in letting people know that I am going to have it and I will not have a problem telling them about it. Don't worry or think people will judge you, they probably did before so they probably will after, just know that you did this for you and no one else. Be proud of yourself, you are taking the right steps to becoming healthy and feeling better, dont let anyone take that away from you. Have a wonderfull Thanksgiving and don't forget what you are thankfull for.

  9. Efoliate, Efoliate, Efoliate, I have read that efoliating is a great way to help tighten the skin. It said efoliating gets rid of the old skin and helps to grow new skin. I don't know how much this will help but I am on my journy and I have already started. Along with toning and weight lifting.
  10. I take Lortab for a bad back and what you are experiencing are some of the side effects of them. I have hot flashes, especially at night and sometimes tingle or itch. I dont think you have anything to worry about, I would check with your Dr. just to make sure. Congrats on your surgery I am still in the 6mo. waiting period.
  11. I did the Walking away the pounds videos and I loved them. I was doing them 5 xs a week. I pulled a muscle and quit but I am going to start back asap

    Thanks for the info
  13. my dr. uses the realize band, what is the difference in it and the lap band?
  14. I'm in the same boat as you are. I went yesterday 8-3-10 for my consult and I have to do 7mo. supervised visits. They told me that if I lost to much weight before the surgery that I would not qualify for the surgery. My sister is doing this too and she is smaller than me and told her not to lose anymore weight or she would not qualify. If you have high blood pressure or diabetes it may be different, I'm not sure. We have to prove that we have been overweight for the past 3 years. Either proof from Dr. visits or pictures. We saw the dietician also yesterday so that counted as a visit, we now have 6 more to go. Hope this helped.
  15. I go tomorrow 8-3-10 for my first consult. My sister has decided to have the Lap Band too. She is smaller than me she is about 265lbs and I am about 290lbs. I cant wait to get this journey started. Its going to be awesome to see how our bodies change and what we will look like. I have always been big, but my sister has gotten big in the last 2 yrs. she had a breast reduction and quit smoking and really gained alot of weight. My question is: I have heard with Gastric Bypass you gain back the weight fairly easy, is the same true with the Lap Band? How easy is it to gain it back? I have lost and gained back several times and I am hoping this will be the end of all that.
  16. sometimes you can have gallstones in the duct. symptoms are about the same as have gallstones in the gallbladder. I would have it checked out if I wear you.
  17. Thanks for the info
  18. That's what I was worried about, being able to swallow it. I have to take 3 a day for my back pain. I am hoping that my back pain will get better when the weight comes off. Thanks for the info.
  19. I am going 8-3-10 for my consult. I have back problems and have to take Lortab in pill form. Will I be able to take that after I am banded? I know they make liquid Lortab but I was just wondering if you can still take meds like that.
  20. I just called the Drs. office and asked if I needed a referrel and she no. They made me an appointment for Aug.3rd. I dont know if they are all the same or if some need referrels just call them and ask. Good luck!
  21. Thank you so much for your post. I go 8-3-10 for my 1st consult and I know I'm still a long way from a surgery date, but post like yours keep me motivated.
  22. I would get something done before it slips, I have heard that coughing alot can cause it to slip. Hope everything works out for ya.
