    Great Recipe

You can enter the ingredients for recipes on this link. Once you enter the serving size it gives you the breakdown of cals, carbs, proteins, etc. Recipe Calculator This recipe looks great - and it's high in protein. Thanks for sharing! I can't wait to try it and I will copy your shrimp substitution.

Trying to Beat My DNA - 2 weeks post-op

Just curious how you are doing now. Have you progressed to softs now? Any more problems?

    Belts

No doubt you are the right person to speak to the support group. You have given me motivation and support on here and you will do the same for folks in person! Thanks for always sharing and I wish you the best on Monday. Please let us know how it goes!

    First restaurant experience

Thank you everyone for the advice and encouragement. I will think of you all as standing between me and that fork that I want to use to shovel all that food in my mouth. I don't normally binge but after all this time waiting for regular food, it's pretty scary. I feel like an alcoholic-in-treatment going to a wine tasting event at a vineyard without being able to take a friend for support. But, I will follow your advice and report back how it goes. Thank you again!
  6. I'm definitely a 'chicken' so horror isn't really my thing. I had never heard of a horror convention though - very interesting. We are in Indy. It rained last night and we've had a string of days hotter than the average norm. I hope he has a great time downtown!

    Where will we be?

My goal is to lose 100#. I would love to get there! I'm 5'4 and started 6/5/10 at 242#. I want to be a size 10 again.
  8. Love this quote - thinking I will print it out for my desk at work and maybe my refrigerator or some other place at home that I'll see it. PS - I am in awe you lost 50 lbs with a broken band. I am impressed you had this problem and are sticking with the band. There's a lot of change you are managing at one time and you are coming through it. Not the way you planned, but your success is inspirational to a newbie like me (I'm 2 weeks post-op) and will feel good to still be on this site giving and seeking support when I'm as far down the road as you. Posting 50 lbs down will be another win! Hang in there!!

    Don't Get Upset

What a terrific reminder. Thanks for opening your heart and sharing what God has placed there. You look fantastic! You sound grounded! Congratulations on where you are today! It comes by choice.

    Done

Wow - you are doing great. I did not feel like being on the computer for 2-3 days. I had the same experience that the soreness didn't last long and it seemed so normal to me right away - just like I didn't get surgery. Only things I noticed were lack of energy and lots of details to manage in my program --- measuring and timing all I ate/drank to the tee. Good luck!!!

    Off Track....Again

75 lbs - that is great weight loss! I cannot wait until I can post that. Your prom picture is darling. You were so happy to be down so many dress sizes versus the year before. You were so proud of yourself for the decision after surgery. You will be proud of yourself again. Set a small goal is my advice to get started. Sometimes I can overwhelm myself and then I feel like a failure at everything. How about eating 3 meals a day and making good food choices the next 7 days. Or working out the next 7 days. I think you may be low on determination right this moment but keep your hope going! Let your hope fuel your action. Let your results fuel more action. You will gain momentum and you CAN do this!! You are too young NOT too! Will be thinking about you and hoping you tackle this challenge. I'm new to this (2 weeks post op) and I hope to see you around more.

    Scheduled - July 15!!

This is your LAST Friday with no band - how exciting! You are getting close. Stay strong with the liquid diet - you'll be so proud of yourself. Thinking of you and wishing you the best!

    I can do this

^5 (that's an online high five!) You are doing great!! Very proud of you for going by yourself and taking care of business! PS - I'm in Indiana - I'm not familiar with the horror convention. Where are they holding it?

    3 weeks post op.. (almost)

I'm in between 2nd and 3rd week post-op too and I lost about the same as you. I read somewhere else on here that folks stall out right now. My dietician also told me that this week, so I guess we are normal. That rocks that your Dad said that comment to you - good for you! Keep it going - you are going to do this and succeed!! Good luck!
  15. Thanks for the note on my photo. YOU look amazing! I hope I can have the same success as you have. I'm 2 weeks into it and looking at your pictures is so motivating - way to go! Congrats!!

25% of target weight loss achieved!

I made it down the last lb. today to achieve my 25% lost goal. Very excited about that! 25 lb gone - now at 217. Next goal is to break in the 200's. Haven't been there since 2004 or before. Would like to achieve before my next dietician appt on 9/1. However, at a pace of 2 lbs a week, I'm setting the goal for 9/17. Either way will be victory and what i love about the band is I AM IN CONTROL. It doesn't come back unless I chose for it to by my choices. It feels great to be able to know that the scale can be counted on to go DOWN! I hear on my program there's a plateau so that's why I am so excited about the lb finally coming off. Took a week. Dietician said after 4 weeks liquid diet, now that I'm having pureeds the body will hold onto the carbs. I'm going through a 'metabolic shift.' Here we go!! Enjoy your day and if you are down, know that you CAN do it and everyone here is SUPPORTING you. If you are up, leave a note of encouragement for someone. Posting here is mainly for myself so I can log my journey, but I can't tell you the lift I get from newbies and seasoned bandsters when they share their successes and encouragement. It's cool to hear positivity from others and it's invaluable on this journey! Thanks for reading and listening! :smile2: Make it a great day!
  17. Saw you on June Bugs. We have the same band-birthday. Good luck to you!!!!

    confessions of an "Olive Gardener"........

You turned down all of the evil (yummy!) food that calls my name too! Great job!! And thanks for admitting your human. I'm sure I'm gonna do something that's not 100% by the rules (I'm not that far into this so I'm sure it's coming). I like what everyone is saying - move on. Hope you do!

25% of target weight loss achieved!

Thank you everyone! That lb being gone this morning seems like so long ago after a long day at work. Really appreciate the encouragement!!
  21. Congratulations on being banded...in only 8 days!! I wish you MUCH SUCCESS!! Thank you for commenting on my blog. I write it mostly for myself - I want to look back at my journey, but it helps so much when others comment. I get so motivated by the positive energy for one another. Good luck!

    Another step forward!

I love meeting with Laura, my dietician. The meeting this morning went great. I am 2 weeks post-op tomorrow and I was concerned about (1) hunger that has come on recently, and (2) the amount of calories, proteins, and carbs I'm eating. For the program I'm in, hunger at 2 weeks means that I healed properly. She said it means "I did everything right." :frown: Made me feel so good - I have totally committed to this and some days have been hard but I'm winning the battle day by day! I can start doing some band work and it's ok to do the walking in our neighborhood that I so love. Just no abs! I've gone for years not WANTING to do abs and now someone is telling me not to. I'm sure we'll get to those soon enough --- no doubt they will need some attention. I chatted with her about how my mix has changed since surgery. On pre-op I was having 75% protein and hitting about 900 calories a day. Since going on pureed I'm averaging 600 or so a day with about 40-50% protein. More good news - for me, that's right where they want me to be. I see her in 8 weeks. I laughed and once again reminded her to 'take a look at me now!' because there's nowhere to go but DOWN and next time she sees me I will be SMALLER. She always laughs but I haven't let her (or myself) down yet! I go back in 2 weeks. With as much hunger as I have, I'm guessing I will get a fill. I'm making the transition to eating pureeds only 3 times a day. That's going to be tough. But I get to go from 2 oz. to 3 oz. Just had my first 3 oz of chili and it was filling. That's a very positive sign. I'll be doing Carnation Instant Breakfast mix in between if I'm hungry. Goal is to get 2-3 of those down per day in addition to the (3) 3 oz servings of pureeds. Upcoming goals: 25% of weight gone by this Friday. I'm 1 lb. away. Under 200# by next visit with Laura in 8 weeks. That's 19#s I'll need to lose. Hope everyone out there is doing great no matter what phase of the process you are going through. Make it a great day!!

    I'm back!

Congratulations on getting into the bracelet! I'm new to this and I am really encouraged that you eat what you want to (in moderation) and you still lost a lb. I'm 2 weeks post-op so the fact that it's real and it will stay off hasn't quite sunk in yet. I'm still in the honeymoon phase and your blogs are not only really funny, they are a great source of encouragement for a newbie! Have fun at the volleyball games - GO USA!
  24. Yes, I notice changes and I LOVE them! I've been told I'm peaceful and I'm glowing. Also down 24 lbs in 32 days so cannot complain about anything! The liquid diet (pre and post op) for a month was tough but it was worth it!

    Im A Ball of Nerves

I'll be 2 weeks post-op this Thursday and I can't tell you what a relief I felt 'on the other side'. Since I've had surgery I've had so many comments about how peaceful I am. Also my first day back to work (7 days post surgery) 3 people told me I was glowing --- not all of them knew I had been out for surgery so that was extra special. I struggled with fear, doubt, and questioning myself before hand. There was that voice in my head letting me know I'd be the ONLY person that medically this just can't work for. Lies, lies, lies. You got where you are because you WANT to be healthier and happier - now GO FOR IT!! Best of luck!!! Can't wait to hear how happy you'll be when it starts coming off! I started pre-op diet 6/5/10 and am down 24 lbs. Hoping you have OUTSTANDING SUCCESS!!!
