  3. I am glad I found this topic. as I too have gained a pound after surgery, I had lost 8 pounds and for the past 4 days ...a bit of weight gain and 700 calories the most per day...
  4. I have been told to get in 60 gr a day.....hard to do on liquids...
  5. I have Premier Shakes....110 calories and 23 grams of protein.
  6. I emailed the nutritionist and she said that right now, the not getting to a certain level of Protein is not a big deal, as it will be moving forward...she said OK to the protein shots.. I am not waiting solids...I am full liquids...I try....but just getting maybe 500-700 calories... I dieted once before and lost130 pounds and I know that doing 800 calories a day made me feel awful at times. So how am I to be able to excerise and be active on 700 calories a day? Just having a "duh" moment.... I think I will email her back and ask about calorie count I should be trying to get in Thanks
  7. This is a powder and you place in Water??? I have been hearing about Protein shots.....might look into that Thanks
  8. Hello, I am two weeks post op... I am struggling to get the recommended Protein into my daily diet...the shakes are hard to get down for me So can not getting enough protein effect the weight loss rate? I am also doing about 500-700 calories a day... I have not been filled yet Thanks
  9. I am two weeks on 5-3. My incisions are a bit weird looking....the doctor said that he stitched the layer beneath the skin and applied adhesive on top, now the adhesive is peeling away. Some of the incisions are small and the adhesive is almost gone. the longer incision is a bit more pronounced and it looks like the layer underneath is healing but the skin edges have not come together...has anyone else had the incisions looking this way? Also having a pulling and pinching sensation near the port...I lean over and OUCH...is this common? Thanks
  10. I have done PB since I had surgery 4-18..Just a teaspoon and ate slowly...I was fine..

  12. My port is between my breat bone and lower abdomen...so mid abdmen. it is on the right side...I thought this pinching and pulling would go away with time... I cannot "feel" the port...
  13. I lost 130 pounds on my own back in 1996...went from 254 to 124 and stayed there for ten + years. Started the weight gain back in 2009. I know I needed help this time. LAst time I did 800-1000 calories a day, did not watch Protein intake...but then again did not have surgery... I was only on a Protein shake pre op for 3 days..then surgery.... i want to get the protein in, I am going to say that l need to get more protein, but the shakes for me are hard to take... One day at a time... I have found other protein sources of course, but have to wait till i can eat them..
  14. Thanks for the suggestions...what about placing the shake in the freezer and then take it out frozen and spoon it down?
  15. That is so interesting...I was told ONLY Protein shakes post op for two weeks...so here I am trying so hard and failing to do the three per day...I cannot even get thru a bottle..I have been trying to get it other ways... Like cottage cheese, oatmeal, yougurt, etc...but these add up in calories when trying to get the protein in...so like a catch -22...I am keeping a food journal and have been able to keep the calories down,, but the protein is suffering, greatly... I do not want complications... Right now, I have a shake sitting next to me...trying to finish as a breakfast food... The shakes also make me thirsty...weird or not? Thanks for your response
  16. Hello, I am ten days after surgery...I am having great difficulty doing Protein shakes.. I have tried Boost Walgreen strawberry Protein shake, this one has 23 grs of protein per bottel and 110 calories I am looking for a shake I can finish..I cannot seem to get thru half of bottle due to taste. Is there a shake out there that has a flavor and not the after taste I am experiencing.? I am just not getting my protein in due to the problem with the shakes I am having.. Any shake that you have found that gives you the ability to finish? Thanks
  17. As I have stated, I have no fill in my band. Today, I ate some grits(instant) and had major back, head, chest and abd pain. I waited about 2 hours and it got better. I decided to have some yogurt, one spoonful and I again had the symptoms. I also took a sip of Water to get down a pain pill, same pain...is this normal on a no fill lap band one week out? Yesterday I had no issues with eating at all..and I had grits for Breakfast also Thanks
  18. I did not read the post..where is it located?
  19. I am also scheduled to have a fill in 30 days(well 20 days now)...Doc did not fill mine at time of surgery....I am getting able to eat food that if I was filled would be an issue... need to stay under the 1000 calorie mark...so far so good.. Lost 10 pounds so far in 8 days... I gained 6 pounds after surgery...but lost that, thinking it was swelling and the IV fluids.. So if we say that weight and I have lost 16 pounds.. I will take it either way...
  20. Ok makes sense that the port was stitched to the abd muscle...makes me feel better. As the pulling and catching sensation was making me feel that there was an issue... Healing is going on and I am also itching alot.... Thanks
  21. I was wandering if the band was filled at time of surgery...Mine was not and I have to wait 30 days till first fill... Thanks
  22. Hello, I was banded one week ago. I am having a pulling pain at the port site. I cannot get comfortable.Has anyone else had this type of pain..I move the wrong way and it feels as if there is a pulling and "catching" in the area. Is this normal? Thanks
  23. Hunger pains and gas pains(in abdomen area and shoulder area)..woke up last night and I was dry heaving. I am now afraid to eat..I am working on a yogurt for 2 hours and only half done. I was banded on the 18th. Think i mayb need to get some metamucil to helo along the full and nausea feeling. Maybe a good bathroom session will help Any one have ideas for the gas pains and constiptation Thanks
  24. Surgery the 18th also...started a protein shake for 2 meals and a lean meal for dinner...I did not get in the second protein shake...so will have a salad with chicken and hope that is good...
