eating 1200 cals post op!!!!!
I range between 1200 and 1500, due to my high metabolisim, and the fact that I am very active at work. I am 6 weeks out today and have 30lbs. I have yet to feel starved. Some days I eat less and some more, depends how Junior (my band's name) feels that day. Best of luck to you!!1

Lost Port! HELP!
Did my my first fill under flouro, and the PA said my port had tipped, She was able to get it on the first try. Did they not use numbing spray? I felt nothing, just looked down and saw a needle sticking out of my belly, kinda freaky. but did not feel a thing

cinched up too tight?
Just had my 1st fill on tues. Had .5cc put in, I started with 5 cc in a 10 cc band. (Yes, I know that seems like a lot) So that puts me at 5.5cc. I had it done under flouro, so everything is a ok. Here's my question....Is it normal to feel the band? Am I just swollen? liquids are going down, but I have to drink really, really REALLY slow. Now I am wondering it I am too tight? Any insight would be helpful. Thanks Bunches!!!

Sometimes stuck, sometimes not
Some days I can eat the legs off of a chair and others I struggle to keep mushies down. I have yet to have my 1st fill (having on on 3/1). Is it normal to be tight one day and not the next? I have been given the green light to eat solids and I have been following all the rules. Makes planning meals difficult, if I don't know if I will get stuck. Any advice is helpful Thanks Bunches

Beer

Starving!!!
I was allowed to eat creamy soups, I got some of the soup at hands, good quick snack. I also found a recipe for buffalo chicken soup, very satisfying. I use Pure Protein powder and mix it with skim milk, fruit and ice, makes it more hardy. I also put in plain low fat yogurt , makes it thick and creamy. Invest in a good blender. I am on the downward slope to the mushies, can't wait for the mashed potatoes, and cottage cheese. Good luck and mmm....mmm...good!!

left side pain....gas?
Well, I was doing so well. but Thursday I began experiencing a dull pain on my left side, I guess it could be gas, but I am 8 days post op. Is gas still possible? The pain gets worse after I eat or drink anything, (mostly drinking, still on liquids). I have an appt on next Thursday. Should I wait or call Monday if it doesn't get better? Could it be an adverse reaction to the band, or am I just worrying for no reason? any advice would be helpful....thanks bunches!!

Incisions feel fine....but...
Hey Kelly, I was banded 2 days after you on the 20th. My surgeon has me on a strict diet, 2 wk liquid before, (lost 10lbs) and 2 week liquid after (no chunky pieces). It is awesome that you were able to eat grilled chicken salad and had no problems. I forgot to ask if I had any Fluid in band, I'll ask on the 3rd. I weigh everyday, I know I shouldn't but I can't help it. Staying steady at 220. YAY!! It was nice to hear from someone who is going through some of the same stuff and has a banded date so close to mine. Good luck! Let me know how you are doing.

Incisions feel fine....but...
OMG!!! I feel like I constantly have to belch, or hiccup. I ate some creamy chix /rice Soup on day 3, I tried to eat broth only but I guess some rice got through. I had my 1st stuck, yikes that hurt like hell, and I had to lay flat so the dern thing would get unstuck. Have not had much of an appetite, my new stomach (I call it junior) seems full but senior is very grumbley. I am guess the belch/hiccup feeling will go away with the gas pain (which haven't been that bad. Just wanted to share any advice on belchy feeling Sara

Hi all, This is my second day and I have to say it is not as bad as I thought it would be. I slept most of the day yesterday. My gas pains did not start until about 1pm today and have not been bad. I have had to burp, but am kinda of afraid. I am little hungry but have been drinking my 4oz every hour, some with Protein, some with out. I hope it stays this way. So glad I did it, NO REGRETS!!!

Anybody else in Retail
Hey all, I am being banded on the 20th, 2 days away, so excited. I am a manager for a TJMaxx, and am planning on taking 10 days off for recovery, any other retailers out there? How long did you stay out for? I am in charge of the sales floor and am rarely in the office, and my store is GI-NORMOUS ~44000 sqft, so lots of walking etc. Any advice is helpful. Thanks!!! Sara

Liquid diet
Day 5 of the preop diet . I am sooooo sick of soup with no substance in it. I am staying satsified, but I miss chewing. Been adding ice to my shakes to give it more texture, (and the splash of Kalula doesn't hurt ). I know why and I know I can get through it, but I would give my kingdom for a piece of meat. Just need to vent

Anyone from NC?
Third day on liquids and not doing too bad. I have been drinking lots and lots of Water, and keeping busy. There have been a few times when I have wanted to gnaw my own arm off, but other than that it is going well. I just need to find more liquid options. Hope all is going well with your progress. Sara

frustrated
I have finished all my test and submitted all my paperwork as of Sept 10, and found out that my doctor's office has not submitted my paperwork to the insurance company yet. UGH...REALLY? MY insurance company did not even require half the tests that the surgeon did. Not feeling the love. I have been told that it can take up to 4 weeks to get approved and that my surgeon is booked out 4-6 weeks. That puts the big day in December....I work retail so December is out of the question. Any suggestions on how to light a fire under the doctors office? Now that I have done everything required, why shouldn't they be obligated to get my paperwork in a timely manner? Just needed to vent.

Newbee...considering the band
Wow, I am surprised that your doctor responded like that. When I ask my PCP, she was very informative and said she would forward test on to the clinic, I also have a friend who is a physician, she was happy for me and told me that she thought I would succeed. The bariatric practice I choose has a strict program that you have to complete before being considered for the procedure. Seminars, classes, tests, even had to attend a support group before my paperwork was submitted. I looked at all the pros and cons and decided that I was ready to take charge of my life and not let food rule my life. Take your time attend some classes, maybe attend a support group, get all the facts. Most of all dump your Doc, they don't seem to be very supportive. Best wishes to you and your decisions.
