Time to quit my BAD habit!

I used the patch for about a month maybe, then it was cold turkey. I also lived on this website, it literally saved me on more than one occasion. There is alot of information, forums, chat and the best thing is there is a gadget that tracks your quit for you and you can sit and watch it go up. The gadget kept me going, I would look at it and think to myself it's just not worth losing my progress so far. Now if I could only find a gadget like that for Cookies and crackers not eaten!!! Another thing I did was I actually quit on Christmas day and I made that a gift to my kids...that way I couldn't start again, I would be taking away a gift! It will be 5 years this Christmas. Here are the stats from my gadget: 1648 days, 20 hours, 17 minutes and 51 seconds smoke free. 65954 cigarettes not smoked. $13,184.00 and 16 months, 23 days, 19 hours of your life saved. Your quit date: 12/25/2005 2:00:00 AM
  3. I will happily buy clothes when I need them. That being said, I bought some little button extenders today when I realized that not only could they make the pants bigger...they could make them smaller too. At least for a little while!

Hi Everyone, I don't have much to say, just wanted to say hello and I am very sorry to hear about April. I hope it goes well and she will be ok.
  5. I had to download, save it and then open it before it would work for me.

    Taco Soup

This sounds really good, I will have to make some soon.
  7. Going to the movies is what we do a lot of times for our Tuesday night date night. We used to get the biggest one you could get, but now we are down to the small (not the junior). We share it so it's not too terribly bad. I also make it at home quite often in my microwavable bowl with just some molly mcbutter on it. It is going to be a long wait after I have surgery until I can have popcorn again!

    G*DD^mnit *&$@%+!!!!!

You have a great attitude, I am sure that will get you through to the real surgery! Chin up!
  9. That's a great site Maddie! Thanks!

    VSG Dietary Guidelines

Thanks for this! It will come in handy!
  11. Yes, definitely next time! I can't wait to meet you too!
  12. I am trying to figure out what I want to wear, I know I am going to wear my jeans and I have a pair of easy spirit boots that are pretty heavy, I don't know about a shirt yet. I went yesterday and it was very informative, my favorite part was going out to lunch afterward. Not only did I have a great time, but I saw that you can eat and it won't be obvious that you had surgery. I had actually left after the meeting, but had to go to the bathroom before attempting an hour and a half drive. While I was in there I made myself go back to the meeting room and say hi to everyone. I am SOOOO glad I did!

Pat- It's great to meet you, I was told to I would have to get to know you! I work here in Novato too. I would love to get together sometime and walk! Pam- It was really fun today! I am definitely going to make a habit of going to the meetings! I really enjoyed meeting you, Donna and Heather, and to think I almost left without saying anything! I would like to try to go to the one in Sonoma County, it's the Saturday before my orientation, so it might help me calm down before I go!

I want to try to come, but I don't have any details (like when or where). I don't think we have anything planned so I might be able to make the drive!
  16. Sounds like a good idea to me, I will have to come up with a good outfit to wear..with lots of pockets!
  17. Haha! Thanks for the advice Chrissy! I will definitely wear something heavy, but I think they would wonder about me if I wore a sweater in July! And no gum for me, I will remember that one too. :thumbup1:
  18. I can't wait to get started! I get so wound up about stuff, my husband booked a hotel room in Richmond so I wouldn't be late for orientation. We live in Novato and I was afraid I would get there and they would have already locked the doors! :scared0:
  19. Thanks for the link Ashley, it looks like a great site! I am sure I will have a lot of questions as I go along, but I guess my first question is what weight do they use to set your pre-op weight loss goal? Is it from orientation or from the surgeon's appt?
  20. Yeah, I have spent the last few days reading all the websites, forums and blogs that I could find and I feel like I am making the right choice, I couldn't believe some of the stuff that people were dealing with. Now it will take forever for next month to get here so I can get started!
  21. Hi Ashley, Hi Crissy! After having a long talk with my husband tonight, I have decided to do the sleeve instead of the band. I think in the long run, it just seems like a safer/less obtrusive (as in down the road) procedure. Thank you both for sharing your stories! It really helped me decide.

Ashley, Thanks for your comment on my blog! I am now really seriously considering getting the sleeve instead of the band and love to get opinions both ways. The vitamin issue had me worried, but I feel better now.

Hi Rosey I would like to come this weekend, but not sure if I can. Can I get the info on where it will be and I will talk to my hubby and make sure he doesn't have anything planned?
