    Admitting I'm a Binge Eater

Losing weight is very much an emotional and mental thing as well as physical. I am praying for you. I do not understand if you are not losing why the staff at your Dr office isn't inquiring as to your diet, activities, etc.. This is part of their job as well as your job to watch what you are consuming. I noticed one thing that helped me A LOT when I felt like I was hungry or wanted to eat another meal I would make a chocolate protien shake and chew two sugar free strawberry flavored Fiber Choice tablets. It works trust me. The Fiber Choice is obviously fiber which is filling in itself but also it has Chromax & Green Tea which helps to promote fat metabolism and the bottle even says it helps with weight management. I just bought another bottle on sale at Rite Aid for 9.99 for 90 tablets which is a good deal because I paid 16.99 for my last bottle!!

    7 days after surgery

Call your Doctor Stat (Immediately)! You should really try not to sleep on your tummy so soon after this surgical procedure as they blow up your abdomen with gas and move your stomach and intestines around a bit to secure the band and port. The port is usually placed on the left side but in cases of scar tissue etc it can be placed on the right. You need to check with your Doctor and make sure you didn't pinch or damage something. Usually it is pretty sturdy an in tact inside but it is better to be safe and ensure that you are okay. The pain should not be that intense 7 days post op, again call your Doctor. Best of luck please keep us posted.

    Slow week......

Ditto what Sandy said! I was also having a problem getting enough calories so I started using www.myfitnesspal.com and it really helps track everything so if I am having a really low calorie day it makes me mindful and I will fit in a piece of watermelon or some cottage cheese something to help boost it up a bit. Also if your building muscle with lots of activity that is very likely your muscle weighs more than fat. Keep up the work you have already lost 25lbs and that in itself is something to be very proud of!! Do not get discouraged you are doing VERY well and even though there are weeks that you think nothing is moving it could be water weight, muscle, hormonal, etc.. Just remember the results are not always measured by that number on the scale it could be your pants fitting better, feeling lighter on your feet, etc.. Best wishes for continued success!!

    1 day post-op..

Mine lasted 3-4 days and then I was feeling good. I was still a little sore about 10-14 days out but nothing like the first few days. I slept kind of sitting up and it helped a lot. Mostly low sodium chicken broth, sugar free jello, warm tea, water and sugar free popsicles! oh and don't forget the gas x it helps sooo much and walk to get the gas moving!

    Naming my band....

Ok I have seen a lot of posts referring to their band by name so I thought I will have fun with this.. My band is now named "Lolita" because I figure I have an inner Lolita :wink2:) and my band is going to help me find her beneath the fat! I would not be offended if anyone out there borrowed the name because I think it kinda rocks!! Silly yes but lets have fun with it. What is your Lap Band name??

    searching for advice

I use GNC 100% whey protein drink mix (chocolate 20g protein per 1 scoop 8 oz. I mix with 2% milk whick also 10 g protein per 8 oz. Sometimes I just make a 4oz drink 3 x a day and get 45 g protein easy. It mixes well and tastes great! It is at most stores rite aide, walmart, etc.. I paid $14.99 and it lasts me about 2 weeks. They sell it in larger containers I just get smaller ones at first so if I don't like the flavor I can change, but I will be buying another one of these this weekend. Good Luck! You can look up the contents on line I think it is 2g sugar, low or no carbs etc.. but don't quote me (this one was suggested by nutritionist)

    Little Victories

Great job Sandy! I think I will clean out my closet this evening I know I have goodies galore and I don't want to miss out on wearing them before they too are too small. Oh, I love that last sentence!!

    Last blog perhaps...?

I am sorry to hear you have had this experience, but it sounds like you know how to eat smaller portions so you can work the plan without the band. Best wishes.

    Somewhat dissapointed

Have you ever been checked for PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome)? It is harder to lose with that. Also if you are not eating enough your body goes into starvation mode and you actually have to eat more to lose!!! I use www.myfitnesspal.com to track my calories just started using the site this week and I love it and it's FREE! Also when you build muscle you gain muscle "weight" so that could be another issue if you were previously seditary and now are actively exercising. Just some positvie thoughts that may help. Keep us posted!

    Someone's gonna get hurt!! LOL!

Funny stuff you are absolutely hilarious. I feel ya though especially on the pre op diet I have to admit I didn't do to well. I had family from out of state and all our functions revolved around food so I ate and enjoyed family I didn't get serious until four days before and only lost five pounds pre op but it all worked out. I am not encouraging you to blow it like I did and since the band I am doing great I was in the "last meal" syndrome for several days. Wish you all the best keep us posted.

Waiting for the Right Timing???? Read this and rate it too!

Thank you this really hits home for me today. I have to be at peace waiting on the Lord and knowing it will happen in his time. Thanks for reminding me. I get a little anxious when I put things on MY timeline and when it doesn't seem to be happening fast enough I get stressed. Thanks for the word!
  16. Janet Thanks for the message and the photo compliment I appreciate it. I have been heavy for so long and I avoid cameras like the plague. :o) I have to work on the self love thing because all I see is fat when I look at my pics. That one was taken in the past few months but I keep avoiding putting one on lapbandtalk because I am embarassed how big I have gotten. I will come to grips with it someday and post before and afters but I haven't had the courage to take "afters" marking my progress. It is coming off but I would like to see some quicker results. Again thanks for the message and I look forward to sharing my journey with you pics and all!

Rainy Days always make me HUNGRY!!!AWWRRRRG

Janet I understand I love to cook/eat when it is rainy and the first sign of fall I start packing away baking supplies like a squirrel. This will be my first winter with the band so I will have to find some lighter recipes and alternatives to my winter goodies.

Another cool tool for your tool box!

I found this really cool site that is very helpful in tracking my calories, activities, etc.. It is very user friendly and FREE! It is www.myfitnesspal.com some probably already use this or know about it but it was new to me so I thought I would share. They have a vast data base of foods and all you do it type it in and it adds to your data bank so in the future if you consume the same brand/food it will be easily accesible. Great info on this site and a real helpful tool. Have a great Sunday!

    short shorts....

J_BandRanger - I have shared before the product I am using along my journey www.wraptodaylosetoday.com Dig those shorts out of the bag and hold on to them! Honestly the body wrap applicators target cellulite and tone and tighten your skin! They are affordable and easy to use and I would NOT be without them on this journey as I lose and get saggy skin I am wrapping everything; arms, legs, belly, back and it is amazing how much it is toning and tightening my skin! Try it you will be thanking me later!

Keep us posted it will get better. Warm broth helped me a lot I bought the low sodium chicken flavor. Also, warm chamomille tea helped during the first few days.

    lap band vs realize band

My understanding is the difference in the port (size) and the Lap Band has pockets for the saline (whereas the realize is smooth) and according to my PA causes less slippage - My Dr uses both the Realize and Lap Band AP. He will use the Realize band with higher BMI 50+. There are two sizes of the Lap Band AP I believe one holds 10cc and the other 14cc of saline. He said usually your anatomy dictates which one he uses. Both are very successful if you use them as they are meant to be used as a tool to your weght loss success. Good luck on your journey!
