    Beginning the journey

I can only tell you from my personal experience that the surgery is really a piece of cake. This is the best thing you will ever do for yourself. Enjoy your journey, I'm loving mine.

Two months today and feeling hopeful!

You are doing so remarkably well. You cannot compare yourself with anyone else because we all have different weight issues. Some have more to lose, some less. Some take medications that make it a little more difficult. Some of us are able to go to the gym and workout and some are more limited. What ever you do, as long as that scale is working in your favor. you are winning! You go girl and keep it up.

65% towards first goal (44 days since surgery)

Congrats on your loss. I hope you reach your goal. Keep up the good work.

    Excited and a little nerveous

I wish you the best of luck and hope all goes well. Please check back and let us know how you are doing. Keep in mind, you will need to walk, walk, walk after the surgery to get rid of the gas you are going to have in your upper back, neck and shoulder area. Some people used GasX, so have some on hand. I just walked a lot and it went away within a few day. This is the best gift you could give yourself, so be prepared to work hard and lose weight.

    Excercise....are you kidding me!

I am so glad to see other people are enjoying exercise as much as I am. I can't seem to get enough. I hate when it is hot out and I am sweating, but when I'm in the gym I love to sweat. The more the better! You have had a great loss and you look amazing. I wish you a quick recovery.

They sent me to weight watchers

Very interesting. I never heard of that. Best of luck to you.

    Another bump in the road

I am so sorry, but it will be worth every penny you spend. I paid $13,400 out of my own pocket for my surgery and would do it again if I had to. Do you have a credit card to put it on or how about taking a medical loan Do you have a 401K to borrow against? I know it isn't easy, but I will be thinking about you and wishing you well. Good luck.

    T-2

Best of luck to you. This was the best thing I could have done for myself, and I am sure you will feel the same. Remember, after surgery do as much walking as you can to get rid of the gas you are going to feel in your neck and upper back/shoulder. A lot of people us GasX, but I just walked around my condo on every commercial break. It really helps. Good luck and welcome to the Bandster way of life.

    I'm a sicky pants

I am so sorry you are not feeling well. There are a lot of people in my office who are sick. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I don't catch it. Plenty of vitimin C is what everyone says. I say it will just run its course, but Nightquil does help you sleep more comfortably. Hope you are back to your normal self in a day or two so you can get back to your exercising. Feel better, my friend.

To Scale or Not To Scale????

I always write down my Sunday weight. I weigh myself each time I go to the gym, 3-4 times a week, but only log in my Sunday weight in my book. I think once a week is a good representation. Last Sunday I had a week's loss of 4.6 lbs. Today the scale showed me a loss of 8/10's of a lb. My first fill was this past Thurs, so I am very curious to see what I will weigh next Sunday. I know I am doing everything within my power to reach my goal, and I will make it. I work out like a maniac - call me crazy but I really do enjoy it. A good workout with lots of sweat makes me feel energized and motivated to do more. I eat all the right things. I can't believe that I, the queen of carbs, gave up pasta, potatoes and bread. But my doctor said that by doing so, I would eventually make my goal, so I am doing it. Do I prefer the 4 lbs loss to the tenths of a lb. you bet your bippy. But my husband reminded me that we learned by watching The Biggest Loser, you cannot and will not have a big loss every week. So, I say next week will be better. My fill is just a few days old, so I have to give myself a chance to catch up to it. I was 216.6 today. I can't wait until I am out of the 200s, but I am only taking 10 lbs at a time, so I am looking forward to getting below 210. The scale can be your friend, but it can also make you doubt that you are doing everything and anything you can to get to your goal. I cannot allow myself to get discouraged when the numbers are not what I am hoping them to be, or if I don't feel they are going down fast enough - But I will not let anything stand in my way. Have a great Sunday everyone.

    50 lbs GONE 4-EVER

Wow, what a difference. You were a beautiful bride and still a beautiful woman. You must be so proud of yourself. Only 18 lbs till you hit your goal - what an accomplishment. I hope you reach your goal quickly and easily. Best of luck.
  13. Thanks, Christy. I apprciated the friends request, as well. You are doing so amazing well. Keep it up.

    Shady compliments

Easy Way Out - a phrase that makes me see red. I have never worked so hard at anything, so yes it is infuriating especially when coming from family or so-called friends. I say Jealous is a phrase that comes to mind when they say easy way out. You have done great - keep it up and let stupid things stupid people say roll off your shoulder.

    gettin harder

If it was easy, everyone would be thin and not going through this Lap-Band journey. Perhaps the next time you get a craving for somthing you know you should have, you can substitute it with a sugar free jello, pudding cup or ice pop. I usually drink a bottle of water with Crystal Lite in it or have a cup of decalf. It doesn't toally go away, it does get somewhat easier, but watching the scale go down each week makes it all better. Good luck.

    My Reflection

You are another amazing woman who set a goal, took the step to help you achieve it and did it. I hope you reach your goal of 148 with ease. You made an incredible change in such a short amount of time. I am inspired. Thanks for sharing your story.

    day 4 post op

Good for you. keep up the good work and remember, walk, walk, walk. It will make a huge difference.
  20. Thanks, Sandradee. Things are going pretty well. I had my first fill this past Thurs, 1cc, and find I am eating less. I wish I could go back to losing 2-3 lbs a week, but since Jun21st I 've lost about 35 lbs. So I shouldn't complain or be greedy. How is your weight loss going for you? I wish you all of the best.

    My Heart Attackiversary

Amazing that we can forget what we had for lunch yesterday or who we saw at a party, but having a heart attack will certainly imbed itself into your cortex forever. You were a very lucky man and smart enough to get banded. It will probably add years to you life. Now quit smoking - you did it before, you can do it again - and you will be well on your way to a healthier, longer life. I wish you the best in your upcoming surgery. Perhaps you will want someone to drive you and pick you up this time (lol).

    I'm in my teens!!

Good for you, Keep up the good work. I LOVE the sugarfree ice pops too.
  23. We all worry about change because we are creatures of habit. Change is scary. I wondered if I would be able to eat very small portions and not have pasta, bread, potatoes, rice and other carbs for about a year. You know what, I can do it and so can you. You are giving yourself the best gift you can, so sit back and enjoy the ride.

Your support and My support .. two different things

There comes a time when you just have to vent your frustration and luckily we all have a place to do it. We are here for you - we feel your pain.

    Happy Thoughts

What a great story. Now that you have been banded and the weight loss is going to make you healthier and help you live longer, you will have a lot more time to share with the twins. And by the way, I'm a twin too! (Fraternal not identical). Keep up the good work and enjoy your family time.
