    "Fill?" what do you feel?

Hi, Everyone: I just got a very interesting question from a fellow bandster regarding my first fill last Thurs. So, I will put the question out to everyone. I was asked what I was eating since my fill, or more specifically if since my fill was I eating differently. My answer to this question is yes, I appear to be eating a little less than I was before - probably about as much as when I first got banded. But, I am not feeling "restricted" like other bandsters talk about. I eat very slowly and when I am no longer hungry, I stop eating. I have been consistently losing weight. I wish it was 5lbs a week, but it is always around a lb or more. I postponed 4 times and then I decided to get my fill because I was a little hungry between meals. I have not been sick, I have not gotten anything stuck, no belching, no sliming, no stuffed feeling. I got 1cc added to my band, and that was it. I am scheduled for another fill later this month, but I don't know if I need it. But again, I don't have a clue what a "restriction" feels like. What are you feeling?

    Go, go, go!

You are doing so remarkably well. You look great and sound so happy. I am truly inspired. Keep up the great work. Love the pictures - keep them coming as well.

    Yay today!!

Congrats on the 215! LapBand was the best think I ever did. I am so happy you feel the same way. Sorry you have muscle pain, but I am surprised the doctor said Advil. My doctor said nothing but Tylenol becuase he said the Advil could eat through the band?
  5. Hey Rose,

I find I might be eating a little less than before. I don't feel the "restriction" everyone speaks about, but I do try to eat slowly and when I find I am not hungry anymore, I stop eating. I rarely find myself hungry between meals, but I really didn't before either. My normal schedule: breakfast at 6:30, lunch at 1:45 and dinner around 6-6:30.

I am scheduled for another fill later this month, and I am thinking about having it done. But I am losing weight consistently and I can eat anything comfortably. So, I'm not sure. How about you? Eileen

Need to stop weighing myself everyday!!!!

We are all here to vent and share, so please feel free to do both. I weigh at the gym 3-4 times a week. I don't own a scale. I keep a log every Sunday of my weight so I am trying not to get too crazy about it. I wish you the best of luck. Losing weight without the band is not easy, but it is not impossible. Cut out the carbs and that should help. Exercise will also help and you will have to continue with the exercise after the banding, so get moving now. Keep us informed.
  7. I hope you are doing well, because I haven't heard a peep from you. If you remember correctly, we were banded on the same day, which is my actual birthday - now my re-birthday. How are you doing? Please check in with us.

  8. Hi, Cris:

When are you going to post some before and after photos? So curious as to what you really look like.

    New Green Shirt Photo

Hi, fellow bandsters: It is the 2nd of October and you know what that means? It means it is time for the new green shirt photo. As you can see, I also changed my Avatar. My husband takes the pictures and then he sizes them for me. I kept asking him to go from one picture to the past picture because I couldn't believe how many changes there were. I am really doing it! I would be so happy if I could say every week I lost 5 lbs. Unfortunately, that isn't the case. But I am consistently losing - about a pound or so a week. I really thought it would be more, but it took many years to put the weight on, so it is going to take a while to take it off. Monday will start week 15 and I've lost around 35 lbs since my surgery. I've had 1 fill so far, last Thurs, but I really don't think I need another one. I am able to eat anything without getting sick, and I stop when I start to feel the hunger go away. I am working out religiously and I really do feel amazing. When I saw the pictures tonight, I really started feeling better about myself and how I look. Please check our my new green shirt photo and let me know what you think of my new pictures. Have a great weekend everyone.

    First Fill!!

I had my first fill a week ago and also was not as nervous as I thought I would be because of everyone here saying it was nothing and didn't really hurt. Are you feeling more restricted? Are you on liquids or mushy food? Every doctor seems to have a different opinion on that. Good luck and keep up the good work.

    1.5 to Onederland!

The food testing thing is something we all do without thinking about it. It is amazing how much we "tested" before sitting down to a full meal. I don't bother doing the cooking anymore. My husband is a great cook, so he prepares the meals. No more testing for me! lol You are doing great and will be able to kneel down sooner than you think. Congrats on getting closer to the Onederland - I have about 15 lbs to go before I can say that.

    4 days out

Congrats on joining our ranks. The Lap Band is the best gift you could have given yourself. As for the gas, walk, walk, walk, and it will leave your body. Some people used GasX, as well. Be prepared to start your journey - watching your food and exercise are really important. The LB is just a tool, you have to do the work. Best of luck.

    Night 2 Post Op

Chloraseptic and sugar free ice pops will be the winning combination. They scratched you while taking out the tube, but it won't last very much longer. Congratulations on having the lapband. This was the best gift you could give yourself. Keep walking as much as possible to help the gas pass and to get yourself ready to start exercise when the doctor says it is OK. It is really the key to losing the weight. Best of luck to you and welcome to our club.

    Holy Buckets, Batman!

Glad to hear you are doing so well and had a good vacation down here in Florida. Unfortunately, the weather has been extremely hot, but you probably lost some weight sweating in the heat. I haven't seen my twin sister since May. I will be seeing her in November. I miss her so much, I can't imagine not seeing her in 2 years. Have a blast.
  21. Hi, Kathy:

You haven't posted in a while. I hope you are doing great. Let us know what is going on with you.

  22. Hey, Rose:

How are you doing? How was the fill? Did you go today? I hope it went smoothly and you didn't have any problems. My doctor requires a liquid diet the day of and the next day, followed by 1 day of mushy and then back to normal. They said the reason was you sometimes get a little swollen after a fill and this will help you not get stuck. Let me know how it went.

  23. Hi,

Glad everything is going well for you. I hope you are enjoying the gym. I really do like it - it makes me feel as if I am not only accomplishing something, but working towards my goal.

1# until the Onederland is remarkable. You will hit it very soon, just don't give up. So far I have lost 35 lbs since my surgery putting me at 216. I've only had 1 fill of 1cc last Thurs and that is holding me very well right now. I have given away most of my clothes, so I am taking a shopping weekend with friends next weekend and making a complete vacation out of it - hitting the spa at the hotel. I am excited and can't wait.

So glad to hear from you. Please keep in touch.

    The fight never ends!!!!!

How awful. Here is what you need to do - you write a letter to your doctors office and cc/the insurance company. Outline every penny you have paid and that you are not responsible for a penny more. Send them both certified and tell them you want written confirmation, include a return envelope, that your responsibility has been met. Do you have a written contract with your doctor? I hope you do and that you have kept all of your payment receipts. If your insurance is through your job and you don't get this resolved on your own, see your Benefits Administrator to resolve this for you. Good luck.

The Major Reasons for Weight Lost. What is yours?

I was tired of being sick and tired! Diabetes, sleep apnea, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, emergency gallbladder surgery and breast cancer. I am now feeling much better, looking much better and still have a lot to go, but I will get there. Best of luck to everyone.
