  1. I was banded on Oct. 13/06; had my first fill Nov. 23 (went very well) and my second fill this past Monday, Jan. 15. Well, what a nightmare. The doc poked and prodded & stuck needles for 1/2 hour! He said he was having trouble finding the middle of my port. Now, five days later, I feel like the location of my port has moved a few inches up. Also, I am having trouble eating before late afternoon/sometimes evening and even then a bit of a struggle. Even water going down a little slower. I'll hit the doc's next week. My questions to you: * how could my 2nd fill be so much more difficult? * could my eating/drinking problems be from swelling caused by poking and prodding? * could my port have flipped? Thanks in advance. Kat.
  2. Think of it this way -npeople have all kinds of things inside them: pacemakers, pins, stints, etc. Right? Try not to worry, just think about the positive outcome! We are all proof positive! Take care, Kat.
  3. Okay, Gang. I went for my 2nd fill today. I wanted to feel a little more restriction; looking for that sweet spot. Well, bit of a nightmare! Dr. couldn't get the needle "in the middle" of port and so pain this time. Anyhow, the doc was very nice about it, but I'm wondering why at one point (when he thought he had the needle in) I suddenly felt very dizzy (enough to almost pass out!) and thought I was going to throw up. He took all of the fill out and then put more in. Anyone else experience this? Any thoughts? If anyone has found their "sweet spot", can you explain to us what it feels like to you? I would love to hear about this. Kat.

  5. I was too excited to mourn the food - you will be too when you start to lose! It will be fabulous! Tell your husband you will go dancing when you start to feel sexy again after some of the weightloss, and when you are able to eat solids, because then you can eat and dance. As for your Mom, you will be able to go with her for breaky again soon...after a couple of months when you are on solids again. I guarantee you will feel much better in a couple of months! Hang in there and think positive thoughts! Kat.

Telly, what would you recommend for a beginner; I too would like to start weights - I want to be very toned! My weightloss thus far has been excellent, but I now must seriously start working out to get the body I want. Did you get a personal trainer; read books?? How did you get your start? I ask you because I am impressed with the results you have gotten so quickly. Thanks in advance. Kat.
  7. Janice. If you came to Surrey, BC, it would only be 13,000 (less if you don't require a night in the hospital - some people don't) and fills are free. 2 years is a long wait. Implement the loan in with your other payments maybe? That's what we did; consolidated everything. It would be so worth it! Good luck to you, Kat.
  8. Just wanted to share! I bought a new outfit today (something I have not done in a couple of years), and I got my hair "did"! I FEEL BEAUTIFUL!! It's not even because I've lost all of my weight; I have lost quite a bit, but I think it's more the feeling of accomplishment that is making me feel so "purty". We're going to a party tonight! This is the first time in a long time that I can't wait! Merry Christmas everyone. God Bless. Kat.
  9. What kind of girdle do you wear? I think I will get one. Thanks! Kat.
  10. What are you eating, Alyssah? Maybe some hidden calories that you may not be aware of? Also, have you ever had your thyroid checked? That could be the culprit. Kat.
  11. I guess I believe that our final destiny is already set, our job now is to take it a day at a time. And to just be nice to each other. __________________ :eek:Missy You said it, Sister! Kat.

What do you think about Bowflex Gyms? We are considering purchasing one, however, I am wondering if they are comparable to anything else on the market (just pricier). I don't really think I want to change cables each time, but... Does anyone have one? If so, what are your thoughts? Thanks in advance. Kat.
  13. That is so cool, Chris!
  14. You don't look that old! Have fun tonight.
  15. The gauchos and the boots are a definate yes (the boots are especially gorgeous), but wear a sexier top, Carlene!! Kat.
  16. I realize it's not a game:) Hhow do you get into the Christmas exchange - I would love to participate. Is it too late? Kat.
  17. Wow, Dreamer! Imagine going shopping the next day - betcha' that's not the norm. You are a champ! I was overnighter - mind you, I was on yummy morphine so wouldn't have been able to leave even if I wanted to, and then Ty 3's when I got home. Melanie, if you are in that much pain (I defintely was too, but now feel GREAT!) get Tylenol 3's from your Doc. They not only help the pain, but they knock you out too. Don't worry, it gets waaaayyyyy better. Kat.
  18. I love just about everything! From Ambient to "some" rap. Depends on my mood and what I am doing. Kat.
  19. What a cool question! I know that the girl I was at 18 would be shocked at how I had let myself go physically. I did not start to get really, super heavy until just over a couple of years ago when I quit smoking, and boy oh boy did I get heavy!!!! I know that I would be very proud of me in other ways though. Especially these days as now I have successfully become a "non-smoking, healthy eater! How about you, Telly? Kat.
  20. Heather, what does it mean to bump? Kat.
  21. How do I play? *grin* This sounds like fun! Kat.
  22. In answer to your question about the rest of my diet, Jack, it's like this: BREAKY: soft boiled egg LUNCH: tuna with mayo SUPPER: fish or chicken with a little broccoli (I usually stuff the chicken with a bit of cheese - oh oh, that could be part of my problem). My diet is not really exciting yet as I'm nervous to try things. I had my first experience the other day with tuna (now I'm super careful). I was talking at lunch while eating and my first bite, I think, was too big. Anyway, I think I know what the PB'ing thing could feel like now as I had to excuse myself, go into the washroom and wait until the pain in my chest subsided - I didn't have to PB, but felt pretty darn near. Maybe I should have some fruit? My doctor didn't mention any fruit right now. He's not very informative. I will try the shredded wheat that a couple of you have suggested. Thanks again. Kat.
  23. What can I take for this? Guess I'm not getting enough fiber, but I'm not supposed to eat fiber right now, right? What can I take that is natural? I bought grape juice (no sugar), but didn't work.:phanvan Thanks in advance. Kat.
  24. It doesn't sound like you can get chewables for the all the pills you are taking. How about throwing them in the blender with protein shake ingredients: just a bit of protein powder, water, some frozen fruit, and your pills! You won't even taste them. Kat.
  25. If I were a member of the black race, I would be ashamed to claim him. Are we not all "members" of society?
