  6. Ok, so I have made it to my goal of 173lbs!! Losing a total of 253lbs!!! Now I have lose skin, and I am wondering if a tummy tuck would be my answer. The thing is my soon to be husband and I want to have kids in the next 3 years. Would it make sense to wait or to get it done first?
  7. You know what, I learned that the one thing I grew the most with is will power. I really had to just take a step back and think I don't need it and say no. It gets much easier!
  8. So, I am little frustrated now with myself/body and curious to see if this is normal or not. I have 36lbs to go to my 173lb goal. However, it seems like I'll lose 4 lbs then gain it right back. I am not changing anything by eatting, I actually am eatting less than I normally do ( just got a fill) and I do a boot camp 3-5 days a week. I am curious to know if this is a plateu or if I am just doing something wrong. Any suggestions?
  9. Hey Everyone!! I am about a year and 3 months from my surgery date, lost close to 200lbs now. I am looking for people in the Phx, Scottsdale, Glendale, Peoria area. I want a work out partner, someone to talk with that knows what I am doing through Thanks!!
  10. Hey Brandon, Ok so first of all to address some one your questions, is the surgery painful. Yes, I am not going to lie. It sucks waking up from surgery and you will have gas pains etc. You also will eventually throw up called "sliming or dumping" something's things get stuck in your throat and there is only one way to come out! After my surgery I did walk 30 minutes a day as they recommended to me to start, I started at 420lbs so exercising was really hard. After I lost about 50-70 I was more eager and wanted to exercise. It's hard to get into it but now a year later I am down to 228lbs and I can't wait to work out each day. Foods I can get well sadly I cannot eat bread. None at all mostly because it gets stuck in my throat on the way down so it's not worth it. Soda is a huge no for me too I become super bloated and gassy. Lettuce gives me issues too, so does omelets. HOWEVER this is me. I am told this can be different for everyone. Some people can eat certain foods and others can't. I can eat steak with no issues as long as I cut it up to tiny pieces and chew, chew, and chew some more. It's really about how much you can chew and small bites. I am also under the understanding the band can stay in your body forever. It never has to be removed. I am not planning on getting it removed ever honestly. Once you get to your "YAY" goal you just maintain your weight at that point. (I am assuming since I haven't gotten there yet) Your last question how does the band feel when it's open well keep in mind after surgery your stomach is swallow and irritated. That's why your on liquids for a week and the move up to mushies and then solids. I can never feel my band inside me. When I get a fill though it takes about 2 days for my body to adjust to the new tightness and I can feel more restriction quicker when I eat. It's hard to explain sorry! If you have more question please let me know!! I'm a open book!!
  11. I am so glad I found this thread! So back in June I for the first time ever was not able to get liquids down and had to go in for a adjustment and removed .25cc from my band. Since then I thought I would be hungry all the time etc... So not the case!!! I live in Arizona and our summers are hot. It's ranged from 105-117 the past month. If I am outside too long I cannot eat. I will take 2-4 bites and food gets stuck. I can drink all I want so it doesn't scare me at this point. I have lately noticed this because it's like time windows for me to eat. Mostly after 8pm when I have been inside for awhile. I am going to doctors on Thursday to pick there brains and make sure. I am almost positive that it has to do with internal temperature. When I am outside for more than 15-20 mins I know I won't be able to eat. Any thoughts on it?
  12. Thinking back to right before the issues I was having I swallowed a large pill. I didn't crush it up or anything and I think that might have caused some of the issues. At this point though I have just gotten the .25cc removed and I still am feeling restriction and lost another 5lbs. So far so good.
  13. Ok so another day of nothing going down and same symptoms I was done. I called the Dr's office and I went in my band was too tight I had all the symptoms of it. She removed .25cc and it's like night and day!! I can finally eat again. I am just nervous now that I will be eatting more etc... I don't feel like I will be right away I am not eatting like I used too very small portions so that's good. I do live in Arizona and my doctor said with the hot weather it could be contributed to the swelling of my band. Advise for fellow lapbanders: Do not wait!!! If you can't get normally, if you are having issues drinking etc call your Doctor's office!!! You shouldn't be uncomfortable.
  14. Ok... so I had my surgery about a year ago and this past month well week as been soo odd!! Everything I eat is getting suck!! I try the normal foods I eat, eggs for breakfast, soup for lunch... I end up throwing it up because it's so uncomfortable Could my fill be to tight? Is it just me and extra water weight? Any suggestions? Thanks!!!
  15. Hey Hot Momma! I'd love to help any way I can!!! I think at this point the first step is going to get a fill again! That will help a lot, and I think the 2nd thing would be is maybe try and stick to the pre op diet. Protein, Veggies, No Bread diet to start. If you have any questions just ask!!
  16. Rosalina, First of all the worst part is right now the after surgery! I promise it gets better!! Driving in the car shouldn't do anything to your band at all. That's a normal position for you to be in. My port actually flipped 160 around on me and I didn't do anything out of the normal sometimes things just happen! You are going to be burping & gassy for a week are so.. make sure you walk A LOT as much as you can tolerate without discomfort. I use those Gas X strips too after I would eat. I personally never liked the protein's so I would get the choclolate kind and mix it with skim milk and a banana blend it all together. Starbucks has a Protein shake that is to die for too, just watch the sugars I am not sure how much is in that. I do remember eatting a lot of Soups in the liquid stage, pudding and Jello, are good too. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask
  17. Isabella, It's completely normal! Keep in mind your not eatting like you used to as well! Your body has nothing to actually get rid of, it can take awhile. Mine took about 5 days or so.
  18. Ok, I couldn't wait any longer I called the doctor's office and this is what I found out. I got an AP-L (Large 18) band. The total it can be filled is 14ml. I am currently @ 9.25cc which makes me feel 100% better. When I need a fill it's only .25cc at a time which means if I am doing my math correctly that means I would have 23 more fills @ .25cc before I'd max out. I have been averaging about 10-15lbs a month loss. I only have 73lbs to go before I reach my goal depending if I like where I am at that point. 7 more months or 7 fills if I need them max to get to my weight goal. Wow that's a lot of word vomiting for today! This whole learning process makes me understand more and I should have been more aware of what band I was getting etc. It also is making me think I don't like this new doctor! Yes I am getting close but not for a long time!
