  2. After a bit of thought and wallowing over last year's disappointing challenge results...I am in! I am letting go of last year and how much I didn't lose and now I will focus on this year and the road to goal. The fact is that I lost 100lbs by my first Bandiversary and I know I can make it to goal. That's it! I am setting the goal of 175 that is -69lbs by my Bandiversary. That would put me at goal. 3. Congrats of your 6.5 BBK! Day 3 and Im pretty sure that I havelost some weight. Im gonna break down and weigh tomorrow, day 4. I am also pretty sure that I need an adjustment.
  4. This is my specialty! Ive been a turkey eater forever! Its the only thing I know how to cook. I usually season with a "sason" packet (Google it) saute it with a little Evoo. Just as it starts to brown I add loads of minced garlic. From there you can do anything like: add crushed tomatoes and simmer for a killer ragout; or add veggies; or add BBQ sauce; or sloppy joe sauce; or No sauce. It is really versatile. Or make my favorite turkey lasagna! But it's really not bandster friendly which is why I haven't made it in years. Just have fun with it.
  5. Well the sun is setting on day 2 of liquids. I don't know if Ive lost any because I promised myself not to weigh until the end of the the 5DPT. BUT...boy am I glad I am not attempting 5 days of liquids! Plus I have a confession, I think I cheated a little. I had 5DPT approved Lentil Soup but I didn't blend it. I hope that's not too off track.
  6. Im on day one and so far so good. I havent decided on whether Im doing liquids for 2 or 5 days. Protein shakes are sent from heaven! Scratch that. 2 days of liquids it is!
  7. BBK how did you know what I needed? I am so up for this. I will be buying some Protein tomorrow. Because I have a lot of preparing to do for this I am going to start on thursday. However I will be back at the gym on monday. Part of my epic stall has been due to not properly preparing for the inevitable hunger. I am going to plan this final push to goal out carefully. Thanx for this post, I am ready to continue what I started with this band. Oh the hilarity!
  8. MY natural curves showed up! Before I was kind of a shapeless blob with a square flatish bum. Now it is round, firm and full just how I hoped it would be. I was pleased to find an hourglass underneath it all. One I am learning is very sexy. I have become sort of a fan  . But I dont have a "fat patch". At least I think I dont. My tail bone gets sore now from extended rounds of sitting though.
  9. CUMC stands for Columbia University Medical Center.
  10. I was banded by Dr Mcginty from the same practice. I have heard that Dr Tex is a great surgeon. St Lukes kinda sucks though.
  11. NO!!!! Still got the clodhoppers! My feet aren't baking bread anymore though. (that fat bump you get over the tops of shoes) OH OH Oh, I can wear regular calf tall boots now. Never having big legs I had always been between regular calves and wide calf boots which made it harder than usual to find good boots (I never had). I still haven't found them yet but I am sure having fun looking!
  12. Good job FlirtyAngel! A victory is a victory in my opinion and getting under 300 is a big deal. Congrats!
  13. I guess as the OP I should give our little NSV thread some CPR! CLEAR!!! My latest NSV has come about because I work in NYC. I live here too but I used to drive everywhere...ANYWHO. I now take the train to work...the subway. If you've ever been on the NYC train system you know how close everything is. People sit next to me now when they never could before. When I was +300lbs I took up 2 seats and no matter how I sucked it in or held my arms nobody could fit next to me. Now I am just your everyday commuter sandwiched in like a sardine!!! The New Yorker in me hates that, but the Bandster LOVES IT!!! Oh yeah! I now wear a size 14 top and am moving to a 16 bottom!! I can shop in regular stores!!!! Skinny girls ask me where I shop. The always have but now it somehow means more. Come on twenty-somethings lets help each other not get apathetic with our weight loss! CLEAR!!!
  14. Okay, its getting close to halloween everyone. What did you choose? On Friday for family friendly trick or treating on the Upper West Side I will be a Wall Street Exec. teh he hehehe! On Saturday I will be Mistress Yoanna Spankin...again. This year Minus 100+ pounds!!!! I will post before and after pics!
  15. OMG! You look amazing! Who is your surgeon? Now that Im 2/3rds of the way to goal Im getting serious about find a PS. And yours obviously does great work. The scar line is so even and steady (a big factor for me).
  16. I had a very unsupportive PCP. What I did to get him to do my bidding i.e. write my surgical referral and support letter was to bring him a packet of lap band research and a list of participating surgeons in the city. I proved to him that not only was I serious about having surgery but that I did the research and knew the risks. He was nonplussed to say the least. But you bet I walked out of there with my referral and when the time came for my support letter I was on his ass like a deer tick. I didnt ask him what I should do I told him what I was gonna do. Remove the option of telling you no. Moral of the story...he/she works for you and can only stand in your way if you allow them to. He/she is recommending the diet and exercise exclusively, let him/her know that you will most likely have to do a 6month diet and weight in before you can have surgery anyway. So you will indeed do the diet and exercise, while you move forward with the banding process.
  17. I guess I really started today. I worked out on the elliptical for 45mins today.
  18. Consider me the choir! I am a cookie addict. I have never only had one cookie even now. It has been my biggest demon.
  19. Im in! I need baby steps right now, but 30 mins a day is so doable for me.
  20. Just remember he or she works for you. AND you're paying for her/him to kick your ass. I love working with a trainer, they are far more creative with workouts than I could be on my own.
  21. It is a little bitter sweet at first, then when you slip on something you never thought you'd ever wear that all goes away. I mourned my old "fabulous fatgirl" wardrobe just until I realized how easy it is to shop now. The best part is, I havent shopped at LB for a year! BTW: I sold all of my old ensembles on Craigslist. Good luck to all of you Sept bandsters!
  22. I am really interested to know also. It hasnt been explained to me how, without being under fluoroscope, you can tell that the pouch is stretched. I really would like to know. So if anyone has the answer, dont sit on it.
