November Bandsters!
That disoriented feeling may be there until you get the anaesthetic out of your system. It might also be from lack of nutrients.....

Cheating - what if...
My husband cheated years ago. I was so dumbfounded and hurt I didn't know how I'd live through it. It took years and alot of pain for both of us, but we are a better couple for it, and we are both better individuals. I would have thought I would kick him to the street. But each couple is different, and each set of circumstances is different. It turned out to be a wakeup call for both of us. We just had our 20th anniversary.

November Bandsters!
Congrats Kathy! Have you seen Better Than Boullion in your stores. It's soup base that really tastes hearty. It was great help to me during my first days banded. And yep. Walking helps with the gas. So does chewable tylenol and a heating pad.

November Bandsters!
Welcome to the journey, She Smiles. Hi Apink. Those gas pains were awful for me too. But do disappear, honest. Congrats on your weight loss! My challenge after that was that when the swelling disappeared, I found that I could eat anything, and I tested it! That threw me into a panic. But it didn't last and I'm settled down into getting to know my new life. Sometimes I have to pretend that there is a restriction and I'm just practicing how I'll need to eat after my first fill, but I'm really developing some peace about it. Everyday I learn something new.

Spivak told me to wait a month for a fill. Wonder why they filled you during surgery. I have read that alot of European Drs. do that. Didn't think ours did.

Tai Chi
does anybody know of a good Tai Chi DVD that ISN'T an explanation of every pose, but just does some of the routines straight through? I've bought 2 DVDs so far and they're both just one isolated pose and explanation after the other...no flow!

Thanksgiving Is Depressing For Me!!!!!!!!!!!
Ha! Good point, Patt! Stuffing yourself at Thanksgiving isn't that great either! I sat at the table, ate some mushy green Beans and a bit of pulverized turkey, gave my mother the evil eye for offering me gravy, and tried with moderate success to focus on conversation instead of food. did OK although the pecan pie looked awfully good. After, I had some chocolate protien shake just to appease my sweet tooth. So here I am! Wide awake, while everybody else is stuffed and napping! Think I'll go to Walmart.....

Thanksgiving Is Depressing For Me!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey apink. I was banded on the 13th, and believe me...it passes and then it feels soooo much better! Those gas pains were the worst! In a week you'll feel like a new woman!

November Bandsters!
I was told only to take Tylenol, for the above reason, but also because it doesn't thin the blood, in case or bleeding after surgery. Hey Misty. I know what you mean about being a food addict. the most encouraging thing for me so far is that every day is different. some days I learn from mistakes, and some days from successes. But ti's all heading in the right direction. Today, I'm grateful that I had exactly the right breakfast and exercise, and that I actually feel some real hunger that hasn't been covered up by stuffing myself. It feels good, and powerful. Maybe someday I'll be able to see my feet! It's a grand journey we're starting.

I feel like I can eat anything and there is no band!
I attended a seminar, read this site, and talked with 4 people who had had the band.

Compulsive/ Binge Eating
I have found that my favorite things are simple. I have several containers in my fridge....ground up meats, meons & berries, diced assorted fresh veges. And some Better Than Boullion. Some days I throw a handful of each in with water and BTB and make soup. Somedays dry as a salad and I chew chew chew. some days on top of collage cheese..... or freeze the fruits and blend into a smoothie.

Compulsive/ Binge Eating
If you can only eat one bite at meals, no wonder you're grazing! I think the goal is to have 3 protein rich meals of around 5 ounces each, so you'll feel full! Otherwise, Im not sure how the band can be helpful. might be worth talking to your Dr., like today!

November Bandsters!
I'm gonna eat like an obnoxiously thin person!

November Bandsters!
Woo hoo! Good plan, Jill. And maybe after serving all those people, you'll be sick of looking at food!

Hey Houston Bandsters
Tee hee. good one. I'm going to announce that I am not the turkey when relatives try to stuff me at the table! As my Dr. says, "I know you'll hate to hear it, but you have to do ambitious aerobic exercise".

no family support for having surgery..lots of guilt though
My husband and I follow Dave Ramsey religiously, and if we hadn't, we would never have gotten out of the mess we were in. Now it's another mess.....getting out of the obesity problem I've had, and doing it self pay. As far as we are concerned, it is a better investment than a house; fewer medical bills in the long run, better income potential for me being thinner, more activities we can do together, better sex. Some things are just worth the money. As my husband says, some people face a huge problem and just live with it, year after year. I'm tackling my problem, whatever it takes. Just like we did when we started following Dave Ramsey. What others who aren't morbidy obese don't get is that the TV ads are lies. You can't just "eat less, exercise more" at this stage, and especially if you've further mucked things up with frequent dieting, pills or whatever. People are being duped by ads for miracle weight loss pills or gyms wanting memberships. We are medically obese, and we need a mechanical tool to help us do what others can do without it. Just like we needed the financial tools Ramsey gave us.

Hey Houston Bandsters
Anybody want to meet for a cuppa after Thanksgiving, somewhere around 1960/59 North?

November Bandsters!
Here's what I'm going to do for Thanksgiving! I'm going to use a very small plate. I'm going to put a spoon of any cooked veges on it, and a small piece of turkey. I'm going to drink a glass of water first. Then I'm going to spend the meal chew chew chewing so my stuff lasts as long as everyone else's! It's gonna be liquid before I swallow and it's gonna be small bites! I'm gonna work it, baby! I may leave the table during dessert, or I may pick a few cherries out of a cherry pie and nurse those along. Nah. Probably play with the dogs during dessert..... I am ready!

I feel like I can eat anything and there is no band!
One of the things I'm beginning to figure out is that it's like any other doctor's office. The story changes just a bit depending on who you talk with. Dr said no lifting more than 5 pounds for 3 months. Nurse said be careful for 3 months, receptionist said don't lift for 6 weeks and be careful for 3 months. Add to that that I had some instructions while I was coming out of anaesthetic and probably not remembering clearly, and the different instructions by different doctors mentioned here...and the bottom line is....I'm still responsible for my own health decisions, based on whatever info I can gather! Life is life, eh?

I feel like I can eat anything and there is no band!
Thanks for the advice. I'll ask for an aggressive fill. Right now, I am waiting for my first fill and am not feeling a restriction.....

Probably some of that is really amazing muscle! Sounds like your body is reforming itself in some really healthy ways at the moment.
