I would call your doc and talk to him, let him know you are having uncontrollable poo! You could be dehydrated or well on your way there. Take care of yourself!

I think it is a good idea to wear one. I will make sure I have one once I have my band installed. Also, you can put your ICE contact on your alert. (In Case of Emergency). This way, if you are ever in an accident and found conscienceless, your EMS team can be alerted.

I can only hope that my process is as speedy. I have been thinking about this for 3 years. Hubby was against it from the beginning. I told him last year this was no longer his choice. Started researching, watching the surgeries, reading risks and success studies. I committed myself to doing this last October. Went to a few different seminars led by different docs. Then, watched an on line seminar or two before I decided which doc. My first appt is Tuesday. I am most certainly ready for this. If I could have the surgery before June, it would not be too soon for me. Best of luck!

So, here is my take on this. Your bariatric surgeon should be able to comfortable preform both a gastric bypass and a gastric band laparoscopically with their eyes closed! Secondly, he should want what is best for you, what he thinks will work for you, where you will be more compatible with, NOT what he feels more comfortable with at the table (OR, not dinner). Third, he should offer statistics that show both success and failure rates of patients that choose either procedure. And of course, he should offer some sort of support group meets for recipients of any bariatric surgery. Sorry, but I feel that it should be your choice not his, and if he reccommends a procedure, I would want to know why this and why not that. Good Luck!

So, it is late Saturday night and I am thinking about this change that is coming. No, not Obama's promise but my promise to myself to loose it for life. My first consult is Tuesday morning and I am excited. I have typed a list of questions and combed the message boards looking for complaints and other experiences with the band so that I can be through at the consult. I am much interested in a surgeon that I work with however he has not been granted privileges to perform over at the west location however he is working on that. I will continue onward with this adventure of meeting the clinically late Enochs (or so is his reputation) and hope for the best. This evening I went to dinner at On The Border and realized that I may only be able to eat there for a few more weeks. Once the band is installed, it will be a while before I can enjoy fajitas again! Good thing I am not a soda addict. Hugs to myself for taking this step!

I am almost afraid to ask where these polyps are! The best thing to do is ask your physician. Chances are, they can snare them off when they do a EGD or other scope. I feel pretty safe saying no, if they are in your nose.

WhiteRabbit.....also remember that during surgery they will be pumping you with normal saline solution (NSS) while controlling your blood pressure......your fluilds can effect pressure and they realize this. The CRNA will take care of you!

You did the right thing and she needs to know the serious risks at hand if she has a hard time with the pre-op diet. With a large, fatty liver at the time of surgery, it is possible that the liver could be damaged. A friend of mine assists surgeons who preform these types of surgeries. Best of luck!

I have made my first consultation with Dr. Enochs. He has come recommended to me by a former preceptor and a co-worker. The former preceptor had a RNY. I am looking to just have gastric banding. I am not ready for something incredibly invasive like RNY nor do I want to loose weight at that pace. Enochs makes me nervous though I have not met him yet. His commercials and office staff make him sound as if he is all about the money although multiple feedback reports state that he is very nice. One of his office assistances state that he is often late for clinic. I hope not! I can't be late for work everytime I have an appointment with him. Looking forward to April 20! I want to meet him and form an entire opinion. It isn't just about one day of surgery but years of follow-through. It is important to choose the right team for life!
