  2. Things are finally starting to change. I just got my 3rd fill and I'm losing weight and pretty fast. I have to say. I was like 222lbs at the doctor on the 7/19 and as of today 7/23 - I'm at 214lbs... FINALLY! I really can't eat much but whatever
  3. Starting weight - April 15th 2010 - Total Weight - 235lbs Weight Update - July 21st 2010 - Total Weight - 218lbs Grand total of weight loss in 3 mons. 17lbs Good LORD - This is taking FOREVER!!!!!
  4. At the beginning I couldn't really eat that much. That's why I'm so surpised that I didn't lose anything. Slowly I've been able to eat more and more. -I drink a slimfast in the morning. -Have small snack at work. like fruit or special K bar. -I eat half my lunch which is like a sandwich, a salad, or a Soup ( not all 3) but it's when I come home that I get hungry. - I'll have a small bowl of special K Cereal - dinner which is either chicken or fish with brown rice and some veggies. It really isn't that bad. Or is it?
  5. The only thing that keeps me going is the idea that one day I will be at my goal weight with the help of my band. I'm hungry all the time like everyone says the band work differently for everyone. Just cuz I'm having a hard time doesn't mean you will. If you feel that this will help you. There is no reason not to go after what you want. I wanted this so bad and I'm feeling a little down. But I have to force myself to realize that the band isn't going to do all the work. I'm going to have to start restricting myself as well. I paid for this myself so I know thinking it won't work is a scary thought. But think positive. I did it and it will work for me.. Sooner then later I hope. Monday is my next fill I'm really hoping that I start feeling something... I mean you read all these great stories about all these wonderful people losing all this weight and it seems so easy for them. I wonder if it was ever hard for them at the beginning? Or did they just lose it like nothing?
  6. I got my band almost 3mons ago and I haven't lost any weight. I jump from back and forth 230 to 225. I'm going for my 2nd fill on Monday. I'm feeling really down and I'm starting to think that this may not work for me and what a waste of money if it doesn't. I know the band works differently for everyone but I would like to know from all of you how many fills did you need to start feeling restricted? I'm asking because I haven't lost anything is this normal? Please let me know what you think.
  7. It's been almost 3 weeks since I've been banded but I'm not losing any weight. When I went in for surgery I was 235 and I weight myself today and I'm still at 235... Whats going on?
  8. I feel a lot better! Thanks for asking :w00t: I'm now cutting them in to 2 pieces until I can get the hang of it again. But don't be nervous! Everything happens really fast and you'll feel fine once you get home. Just remember that once you get home take it easy. Because once the anesthesia wears off you will be in some pain the next day but you'll be feeling better by the 2nd day. What I use to help me besides the pain meds is an ice pack which helps with the sorness and also I'm using neosporin on my incision. It helps me! GOOD LUCK!
  9. Hi I just have a quick question and I'm hoping one of you will know. What is the average weight a month you can lose once you've had the lap band done? I hear it's like 1 or 2lbs a week. So that would be only 4 to 8lbs a month? Is that right? Please let me know Thanks
  10. When I got home after my surgery I was feeling great. It wasn't until like 2am when the pain kicked in. I woke up crying definitely needing some pain meds. So I went to kitchen and took 2 of my pain meds at the same time. Not thinking anything bad would happen but once I swallowed both of them. I felt one go down but the other just wouldn't go. It just felt like it was stuck and wasn't moving. To be honest it was a really scary moment! I didn't know what to do. So I started spitting up and that didn't work. I finally went to the bathroom and tried to throw it up. I didn't throw up anything except water and some foam. But after that I'm happy to say that feeling went away and I was able to breathe normal. Thank god! That was such a scary moment.:tongue_smilie: From now on I'm cutting my pills in 2 and taking it easy. Guess that was my 1st lesson! I can't take pills the way I use 2. LOL Can't wait to see what happenes when I start eating real food again...

Hi everyone! My name is Jhanette and I live in Miami FL. If you can image I'm 26years old and I haven't been to the beach in god knows how long. I just had my LAP-BAND®® surgery today 4/15/2010 and now I'm home checking out this site and reading all of these amazing stories. So here is mine. I've always been over weight since I was very young but ever since I turned 22 my weight seriously hit the roof. My highest weight was 285lbs. I started to look into the gastric bypass and was going to do it but in the end I chickened out. I was able to lose 10lbs by myself before I decided to join QWLC (Quick Weight Loss Center) and it did work! I lost 40lbs. A total of 50lbs on my own! But even though I lost that weight it was a battle to keep it off. I came to a point where I just stop losing weight and couldn't pass 240ish. So I started looking in to the LAP-BAND®® and after doing a lot of thinking and researching I finally woke up one day and set up an appt to see the doctor. It was on a Saturday that I went to strax rejuvenation in Kendall and I got approved for my surgery. 2weeks later I had my LAP-BAND®® surgery on 4/15/2010 with Dr. Michael Choi. So right now I'm super sore and but I'm feeling great! I'm truly excited about this journey and I can't wait to see what's next. Just wanted to share a long story with you cuz i was in the mood. Hope you all are doing well and losing all the weight u want. I wish you tons and tons of luck and I hope to be talking to you guys soon :tongue_smilie:

  14. Thank you so much! I'm really happy and shock that I finally did! But that damn pre op diet so hard! I was such in a bad mood like every day. I would see my fiance eating something and I'd would look at him which such an evil eye. LOL and food commercials would Kill me! But for sure in the end it will all be worth it. I cheated a lot on my pre op diet. But on the last 4 days I stuck to it and lost the almost all the weight they wanted. You can do this! I promise you can :w00t: and once it's done you will feel like a brand new person a little sore but brand new. Good luck Friend
  15. Thank you for all your comments. After reading everything you had to say I'm so glad took the leap I started my liquid diet the right way and stayed on track for the 4 days. It was hard but I did it :w00t: The doctor wanted me to lose 15lbs but I only lost 11lbs which he said was still great! I finally had my surgery today and I'm at home feeling great. I do have some pain but I'm doing ok. Thanks again for all your advise my new Lap Band Friends! Oh thinatheart it's worth it and I wish you all the best. You can do it and it will be great!
  16. Finally this day has come. At 10:30am on 4/15/2010 I finally had my LAP-BAND®®®®® surgery. Seriously it went by so fast. They weighted me in which they really wanted me to lose 15lbs for the surgery but I only lost 11lbs which is still GREAT! they took me to the back and put the I.V, gave me a couple of shots and after 30 mins. They sent me into this room where everything was so BRIGHT laid me on a bed, put a mask on me and asked me to take a couple of deep breaths. In just a few mins I was out. When I woke up I felt like I was drunk :lol:just talking shit with the nurses and asking for the nurse that signed me in cuz she was so nice. I passed out for like maybe an hour or 2. Woke up and I just had this heavy pressure on my chest. Which was gas. The gave me something for it and some ice and before I knew it I was burping it ALL out. 45 mins later I was out of there. My surgery was at 10:30am and I was out of there by like 2:30pm. I'm now on my clear liquid diet and I feel fine. I do feel a little sore but I have pills for the pain. But I'm not hungry at all!!! Which is great!:tongue_smilie:

  18. Ok so i'm going to be honest and this is going to be really hard for me to do. But here I go. So I started my pre op diet on 4/5/2010 and the first day I did great but on the 2nd day I had a horrible day at work so I ate burger king... Took some pills to go2 the bathroom (if you know what I mean) but I still felt terrible. After that I haven't really stayed on my diet 100% I have been eating some cream chesse here and there w/ritz crackers (Reduced fat) But now my doctor told me on saturday 4/10 to start my all liquid diet. So the night before I had my last meal which was my weakness mcdonalds... :sad:I feel like I really can't do this. I know what the plus side of doing this surgery will be but I can't stop my mouth. I have 4 days left until my surgery and I promising myself that I will do it. I will stick to it! But what if I can't? What will happen? How bad can you cheat without messing up your chances to have this surgery. I know most people will say you want it so bad stop eating but it's easier said then done. Shit it's only for a few days! GOD WHAT IS MY PROBLEM!!!!!
