  1. marketing dude: just FYI I was a self pay person too and I went to mexico Dr. Ortiz . it was great just 5,000.00 included my hotel, and transportation to and from the airport. he teaches in the USA also and was even on oprah... just letting you know if it helps. i was just banded on the 25th and it was 2 years in the making , but it finally happened so I am hopeing the best for you ...keep us up to date
  2. i got banded in mexico, so its not an option to go back, and the reason I want to only use floro is because I have a friend who had her band removed because it had slipped because she was filled too tight , and it was missed by the drs who thought she had a hernia in her esophogus, all the while her band had slipped really bad. so I just figure better safe than sorry , especially with this first fill, as I dont have a way of following up with my Dr. . Btw... congrats on that awesome weight loss! You are an inspiration!
  3. ok so i gotta say i am freaking out a little bit here. just fond out that fill center usa which I was relying on to arrange my fills with a dr in st pete florida who does the fills with floro ( which is the only way I want to do them) has closed. And i have no idea who does the fills there? can anyone help me please with that drs info. like I said I think it was in St. pete, and I know they have another in tampa... but not sure they use floro. thanks yall
  4. ok so yeah i may be a little paranoid... but I am soo afreaid of messing up this oppertunity by overlooking petential problems. I am wondering if anyone else can feel their port being bumped or flicked against by their ribs? like when I bend at the waist, or stand from sitting. It almost feels like my ribs become stuck under it. So I guess my concern is about flipping my port. I am worried this will happen if I move wrong. Does anyone else have this issue? my port is about 2in left & 3 in above my navel.
  5. I wasnt given a breather and I am not sure if its the same thing yo are having but I was banded on the 25th and am still having sharp pains too from my diaphram spasms... maybe this is it. kinda makes it hard to get a deep breath, and especially when i have been laying down... its like my ribs ache and then the spasms start... thought at first something may be wrong with my bend... but when I rub it, it helps. It will happen on and off throughout the day too, almost like I have to burp... but get nothing? I am told this is normal, so I hope this helps, and for both our sake I pray this passes quickly! Best of luck to you. I am soo excited for you... keep in touch and keep us updated k
  6. I am only a just shy of a week out from my surgery but I am having alot of trouble with my diphram seizing... really painful. The chest tightness is something I am still having trouble with and am hoping it goes away soon. I think the gas is finally going away little by little ... so that helps. But these spasms are really the worst. I dont know if its the same thing your talking about? But I hope you feel better soon
  7. so happy for you. I was banded on the 25th and am still having trouble with gas... so lucky you 4 sure! We are all different... just another example of this . I wish you the best of luck in your journey. Keep us updated k
  8. wow ... thats awesome ! I am soo happy for you! I was just banded on the 25th and you are such an inspiration. can you tell me what was your starting weight? and any tips?
  9. ok so here I am , trying to switch things up, and I have added s/f jello to my clear liquid phase... thats ok right? also finding that s/f ice pops r nice too. not too into broth but i don't think that it really matters does it? I noticed i feel soo full all the time... do you think more nutrition is needed? My dr. says I can't have protein shakes untill full liquid phase although in 2 days I get to add liquid yogurt. What did you eat during each phase? Ideas please? thanks!
  10. i am wanting to get to 150 lbs and as of today the scale says I am down 4 lbs from my surgery date weight of 268 so now I am 264 which is good I suppose. Not sure how much of it is fluids but hey I'll take what I can get ...lol I started out with all this at my highest weight of 332lbs... so I am pretty excited bout that. My painful "burping" I think may be spasms in my diaphram? not sure.. bad when I wake up, and when I am in 1 spot too long. my back is still killing me today... only in the middle, from what I hear that is normal still and I'm lucky it's not in my shoulders... Using a heating pad alot... seems to help. Also not sure I am getting in enough liquids, because I feel full after drinking very little... not sure if this is swelling or full? either way I stop drinking ...after just a few sips. I think we can do this though... i am sure it will get better. just kinda wondering when?
  11. I think its normal atleast similar to my own feelings. i have an ache in the center of my chest when I drink too much and when i burp. hope it goes away soon. i am clear for 7 days add liquid yogurt for 7 days then full liquids for next 2 weeks... keep me posted
  12. i am 5 days post op, and have been so exhausted since my surgery I have mainly been resting. I have been having some trouble with gas however, so I decided to do a lil light exercise so i did about 20 mins on my rec. bike and then went for a shower, and I had to lean against the shower walls because I was soo exhausted . Is this normal?
  13. thank you everyone for your input and support. To ddrobins i am right there with you 4 sure, gas pais are no fun, and I am not sure why gas ex isnt working ? I tried to exercise just a little on my bike thinking it would help with gas and then i took my shower, and i had to lean against the shower wall, soo exhausted! I dont know if that is really normal either. i suppose we will all do a little learning on the run u know.well keep in touch , would be great to hear updates on all of yall's experiences
  14. i am soo excited for you , I just had my band on 7/25 so i am only 5 days post op. I just wanted to tell you no worries, the day will be here b4 u know it! One thing I ran into that has been a problem with my recovery is stick to the liquid diet, and make sure you have no solids in your system. I made the mistake of having a "last meal" and boy do I regret that! I have had constipation and it has lead to a painful build up of gas... and meds dont seem to help. So please learn from my mmistake on this one... it is soo not worth it...lol The gas pains from surgery are the only real pain I had and walking and heating pads help. best of luck to you really! I am soo excited for you keep us updated k
  15. Ok so b4 I mention any of the minor problems I am having , let me first say how excited and blessed I feel just to have finally recieved my band after 2 years of trying. I know how lucky I am and I am sure I will grow to love my band. However in the meantime I find I am concerned by a few things. I am sure they r easy fixes and normal, but never hurts to check right? I have had a large amount of gas even though I have been taking gas meds, and I think it's burping? that I am feeling. It is painful around the breast bone, but only for a moment but to be honest sometimes it makes me double over, I guess my question with this is will this go away? also dispite only having had 100+ cal in the last 5 days or so , I have yet to see the scle move at all. I know things are different after surgery, but this struck me as odd? At which point did you start losing weight? Seems to me that weight loss would be expected during the clear-full liquid stages due to drastic caloric changes? I am not expecting anything big, just wondering what is "normal?" just a side note as well, did anyone else find themselves thinking , "wow, this thing is stuck inside me forever, unless I have another surgery, this is now a part of me?" just a thought that crossed my mind , kinda freaked me out a little bit is all. But I guess that this is the point right , this is a change for life! Again I am still so excited for what the future may hold, and to finally start living my life. Thanks for your feed back everyone
