  1. That's awesome!!!! Think I need to go check mine and see what was put on it the last time..... Guess I was a bigger liar than you...mine says 250 also and I've got another 42 to lose along witht he 30 I've lost already! Don't you know the DMV people were looking at my license and thinking "yeah, right!". Congrats again!
  2. I was filled 1.25 in a 4 cc Mondy (2/26) and was wondering the same thing.....hope someone can help us out!
  3. I would like to say there is no restriction....but, I wouldn't of been able to lose 30 some pounds this easily before band. So not sure if there is restriction or just fear of throwing up or pbing!!! I definitely do get hungry but not starving and not right after a meal. I just ate an eighth of a peice of banana bread out of habit and my chest is hurting so think I might be experiencing some restiction?!?!!?!?!? Do you have restriction? I usually stop eating by 1 cup of food so there aren't any problems, how much can you eat before stopping?
  4. I don't think that's being a slacker.....at least you got off your butt and stepped on the treadmill!! THere's a lady at the Water aerobics that is always apologizing for being slow....at least she's there! Just try and do a little longer the next time and you'll be a winner.
  5. Count me in too! I was at a standstill a couple weeks ago and started the following excercise schedule (the gym is 20 miles from me!!). Monday...walk 1 mile on neighbors airstrip runway. Tuesday...water aerobics for 1 hour at the gym Wednesday...1 mile on treadmill, 15 minutes on the bike, as long as I can stand on the eliptical (which isn't long!!) then weights...all at the gym. Thursday...water aerobics for one hour at the gym Friday...1 mile walking at the neighbors runway. Right after I started this the weight just started falling off, went from a 16 pound loss to a 28 pound loss in a matter of 2 weeks! Can't say I'm addicted but it's great to have something working. I also got my first fill (1.25 in a 4cc), am weighing my food and being careful with what I eat, takes longer to get hungry so guess it's working! Good luck to everyone.....let the sweat fly!!!!!!!!
  6. My Grandma always used to say to "quit lookin'.....when you're lookin' they ain't!" At 24 I took her adivice, kept busy volunteering for the Optimist clubs haunted house fundraiser (I wasn't even a member!!) and guess what?....met my husband of almost 15 years!
  7. You're in the right place! Just keep looking around, you should find all the answers you need. If you don't, just ask! Everything you've said could have come from my mouth. Now I'm 38, had the surgery on Jan. 18, 2007 and wish I could of done it years ago. No matter how hard I tried IF it came off it just came back on. I've already lost over 30 pounds in approx. 2 months, and it's been fairly easy!! We all know how to diet, which foods we're supposed to be eating, the band just makes it easier to diet. When I eat now, it's slow and thought out...not junk, just good healthy food. I've only had one fill so not a lot of restriction but must be some or I would have eaten my computer by now!!!! Good luck, this is your decision and yours alone....do your research and then make the choice that's best for you. Good luck!
  8. I'm with you on this!! My 11 year old will walk by me and say " Let me guess, lapband.com again?!?!?" My question is.....Is there anything else?
  9. I have a family (DH and 3DS's) am on the little league football board, help with school functions, PTA, you name it! This January I quit all of it except for being the room mother for one of them. Told the football board this was my year to focus on myself and re-learn all eating/living habits. They totally understood and are supporting me 100%. Don't get me wrong, I'll be there if they need me. I explained it to them like this......instead of being into everything up to my neck, I'm going to get in up to my ankles!!! In my opinion, if a family member or friend truly has your best interest at heart they will understand that you need to focus on making yourself healthy and happy. If they don't understand that then they are the one's being selfish.
  10. Not going to be able to answer much for you. My first fill was today also! My surgeon said soft foods for a day or two and then normal after that. He put 1.5 in mine and I'm to go back in 4 weeks. Does your chest hurt or have pressure in it? Not sure what I'm feeling, that's the only way I can describe it! Good luck!!
  11. Tomorrow is my first fill!!!! Can't wait and nervous all at the same time....sounds about like the same post 6 weeks ago!!! I started excercising last week and it's amazing how much weight has dropped since then! My scales show 24.5 pounds and a loss of 11.5 inches. Can't wait to see what the doctors scales show......will try to do a ticker thingy tomorrow. How is everyone doing that's already had their first fill?
  12. If my figures are correct that means you've lost 11.5 pounds per month for the last 7 months?!!!!! If that's the case I say you've done excellent with drinking coffee so don't change unless you see a problem with appetite and losing on a regular basis. Sometimes what the doctors don't know (as long as it's working!!) won't hurt them. Probably wouldn't hurt to cut back as much as possible but IMHO I wouldn't quit it all together!
  13. I was banded on Jan. 18th, 2007 and first fill is scheduled on Monday. The first 2-3 weeks were fantastic! After half a cup to a cup of food I would be full for at least 3-4 hours. The last couple of weeks haven't been quite as good! Definitely get hungrier faster but then a granola bar or something little settles it till the next meal where as before I would have eaten half the refrigerator! It's also easier to "overlook" the hunger when your losing weight. Figured mine loss this morning and in 7 weeks of dieting/banding I've lost 22 pounds!! That's a little over 3 pound average a week!
  14. Welcome!!! My insurance journey took right at 6 months (Aetna). So far it was well worth the wait! I was banded on 1/18/07 and have lost over 20 pounds and lots of inches. Haven't checked the actual measurements lately but at last quick check was down 4 inches in my waist! This is a very personal decision and the choices you make during your journey should be yours and yours alone. If you choose to not tell people then that is a great decision!! Sometimes I wish I wouldn't have let so many people find out. Problem was, 3 kids that I'm roommother for, 4-H meetings, football, baseball and all in a small town of about 800 where I've lived for 36 years! Kind of hard to keep anything a secret for too long around here. Good luck and keep us posted!
  15. Got to share this with you guys.....didn't dawn on me at first what was happening! Over the last year and a half I grew my hair so it could be donated to Locks of Love. It was cut about the middle of December 2006. I'm a room mother, go to school at least a couple times a week, see all the teachers, aides and parents on a regular basis. About 2 weeks ago, all of a sudden, everyone started saying that my hair looked really cute cut like that. After the 4th person it finally dawned on me that it's not the haircut, they've already seen that, it's the thinner face!!!!! The only people who have commented on my "new haircut" are the people who don't know about the surgery. How much fill is everyone getting with their bands, that would be something interesting to know before my fill next week. I have the 4cc one.
  16. I'm with you guys on this!!! Pizza is my all-time favorite food and I had surgery about 4 days before the superbowl, anyone remember how many pizza ads were on that weekend? Way too many to even count. I don't have any problem now....even picked up McD's for a friend's husband the other day and wasn't tempted by the smell of the fries. It'll get better!!
  17. I'm in the same boat as everyone else! The calorie count is staying between 1000 and 1200 with a lot of work!! I'm hungry within an hour of eating and nothing seems to help. I've been excercising, joined a water aerobics class and trying to eat healthy but nothing is working. Husband is just amazed that so little is going into my body and nothing is going off! He keeps saying, "no wonder you couldn't lose weight on a 2000 calorie diet like most people, you're getting half of that with excercise and no results!" I get banded next Monday (2/26) and I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck to everyone, we just have to stick with it a little bit longer!
  18. Tonya....you look fantastic!!! Congratulations on all your hard work! I was banded the same day as you and according to my scales I've lost about 22 pounds. The doctor says closer to 30 but his goes back to last June. Haven't measured again but the pictures for me worked great also! I actually have a waist now! In the first picture I look like a barrel!!! Not quite ready to share pictures with everyone but will do so soon. I started excercising on Friday, then Saturday morning I woke up and was in twoterville (sp.?)!!!!! Wish I had your restriction....pretty much can eat whatever I want and am hungry after a couple of hours instead of four like right after surgery. Fill is scheduled for next Monday (26th). What size band do you have and how much fill will they put in the first time? If anyone knows this let me know...mine is a 4cc.
  19. We were banded on the same day! I took measurements but didn't think about doing a monthly check so thanks for that idea!
  20. Just a warning to all who think they aren't losing because the scales don't show it. If you've got clothes in your closet that you've been "saving", well you better start trying them on!!!!!!!!!!! I bought a jacket last summer with Mickey Mouse on it, got the biggest and crossed my fingers. Arms were tight and the zipper wouldn't meet unless I pull it up over my butt! Tried it on last night and it zips over the butt!!! Tried on other "one of these days" clothes and there are a few I'll have to garage sale (darn ). I've only lost about 21 pounds and the scale hasn't moved much for the last 3 weeks! Let me know if this has happened to anyone else!
  21. I was banded on January 18th also!!! THink what you're going through is quite normal. After losing about 18 pounds in a matter of a couple of weeks and then stalling out for the last 2 weeks I am finally starting to see a small drop. From what I've read on past entries, your bodies metabolism goes into survival mode when it doesn't get enough calories. Someone said to start excercising a bit, I did....a little bit, and it seemed to have worked because I've went down a pound each day for the last 3 days! Good luck and give it time.....it will eventually work!!
  22. I have the same rusults with Alka Seltzer and Pepto Bismal!! The first (and last!!) time I tried Alka Seltzer I through it up in Grandma's kitchen sink! Was quite embarrassing. I don't have any problems with barium at all...it's just a little thick but isn't gross. Good luck!!
  23. I was only banded on January 18th so not sure if I'm equipped to help you yet but am gonna put my 2 cents in! My husband was fantastic....just be there for them, look the other way if the mental part of this life changing surgery hits home....I had a couple days that I was saying what the HE## did I do? That was during liquid and mushie stage right after surgery! Now to answer your question...I can eat anything my family (11 year old son and 7 year old twin boys and hubby of course!!) eats. Last night they had spaghetti and cheese toast...I had 1/2 cup spaghetti and the inside part of the cheese and toast. From what I'm told, in a couple weeks when I get the first fill that might change a bit. Got a friend who eats anything her family eats just a whole lot more of it! Make sure and take measurements and pictures....the weight loss itself will stall out at some point and it's nice to see or have proof that he's losing inches instead of weight. For example...I haven't lost any weight for 2 weeks, but I put on a swimming suit that last year I wouldn't have left the bedroom in and was parading around in it like a model!!! Just be supportive and go with the flow! Good luck and if you have any other questions you can just ask away. Lisa.
  24. He's got my vote!!! Always look forward to anything and everything he says! Husband even says, "there's one from your buddy Jack!"
  25. Find something to get you out of your depression!!! Been there...done that. Was feeling down because the scales aren't moving and haven't for over 2 weeks, had some restriction from surgery but that is now gone and I get hungry an hour or two after eating. Was feeling really down and having a continuous pity party! Then this morning was putting clothes away, saw a swimming suit I purchased at the end of the season last year (bought the biggest size which didn't even come close to fitting me!!) and tried it on. OH MY GOSH!!!! I was parading around the house in the thing!!! Husband was laughing and saying that he sure was glad I found something to break the downers!! Guess what I'm saying, like everyone else, is each body is different, your still in a healing phase so take your time, try not to look at the scales! Something else that helps is breaking up the amount you want to lose over the next year into weeks or months. Example....I want to lose 100 pounds the first year, that's 8.3 pounds a month. I've already lost 20 pounds in 6 weeks without a fill! Or another thing....picture in your head that each 3#'s you've lost is another can of Crisco!!!!! I've already lost 6.6 cans of Crisco...uuuugggh! Good luck and my prayers are with ya!
