  1. karey, how are you doing today? thinking of you. c
  2. VERY disheartening that you are still itching. it is driving me BONKERS!!!!!!!! I've been about 7 hours since I've scratched, I thought not scratching would somehow help... any US people use Benedryl? did that help?? I realy am going bonkers here!! I'm going back to work next week for 1/2 days. more if I can handle it or not at all if its too much. my boss has been great!! ok, going to the gym to watch DH work out, not my idea of fun, but I need to get out of the house.
  3. best thing for gas is to walk walk walk.... it will go away, sorry - no specific timeline. good luck!
  4. I'll chime in here as well... not selfish at all. it is a lower risk surgery and your kids will reap the benefits. imagine getting up and down (with ease) off the floor, running and playing with them for hours.. not being the mom who can't do X cause she's too big... thats part of why I did it. and to be around for longer... at 402.5 lbs I probably wouldnt have been around to even see her graduate from high school. congrats on a date!
  5. crystal, thats wonderful!! it will be here before you know it!!!
  6. welcome to LBT. sorry about your back and knee, I think exercising will be made easier once you start losing weight. but even walking will help. banding is one of the best thing I've done for myself. good luck.
  7. hi... congrats on being banded. bloat is completely normal, they pump you full of gas when they operate. you may also be having 'gas pains', thats normal too.
  8. I second the Advantage shakes... my fave is the caramel latte.. YUM
  9. how are you dealing with the itching?? my lipo incisions are itching like crazy and my main incision is starting to itch as well. what are you guys doing for it??? gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
  10. showering is a major ordeal for me, I can't even imagine how difficult it would be with drains and hunched over... :tea:
  11. congrats on the 8 pounds! that's fantastic!! i wish i could get my taste for diet coke (cherry to be exact) back... it just doesnt taste the same ...
  12. congrats on insurance approval and a date!! my (unsolicited) advice, do some major squats and arm exercises. i was cussing my trainer while she was making me do them awhile ago, but when i was trying to get up and moving i was singing her praises! i would have been dead in the Water without my arm and thigh muscles!!
  13. best of luck to you. i, too, get very emotional when weight is even briefly mentioned ... even if they arent talking about me. good luck on your journey.
  14. wooo hooo, isnt that a great NSV? i've always just thought i didnt want to cross my legs...
  15. i went thru lap band solutions (Dr. Marsden - loved him), great experience!! you may want to really watch it with Dr. Carter, super duper wonderfully nice guy (came and chatted with me the day of my surgery), i heard he is very conservative with fills. best of luck to you.
  16. nina - what kind of exercising are you doing? doc told me an emphatic NO when i asked him if i could get on the treadmill ... 2 weeks absolute minimum  neal - super brave! i cant imagine not going under for that!!!
  17. karey, i am so very proud of you! i agree that (this sounds crazy cause we KNOW what the more complex surgery is...) the lap band surgery is more difficult. we weigh more, more than likely we are not in good shape, etc... this is a very emotional journey.... i've cried more in the past week than i have in the past month thats for sure. you look simply amazing!
  18. nomore - thanks. :tt2: half of me blog is linked in my blog. not sure about a fill. i keep meaning to look at my belly for the port scar, but keep forgetting to... they did not touch the port itself, he was VERY careful with it.. Steph - that is great news!!! im so happy for you. i hope he can get you in soon! Shalee - you could find a reasonable hotel close to the surgical center (we live in the area, but got a hotel anyway) ... stay maybe a week??? i feel like i could fly today if i had to... wombat - this new garment appears to be helping with the swelling. i think i may just suck it up and get another one now cause im going to be wearing this pretty much 24/7. nina - will resp soon.... karey - you doin better today?
  19. doesnt sound right to me either, hunter
  20. when i first started on the elliptical, my feet would get a tad numb, i just pushed through it. i found if i loosened my laces a bit, that helped. if you are having serious problems, i suggest contacting your primary doctor. good luck on your banding! :crying:
  21. Compression Wear & Bodyshaping Clothing - Male & Female Girdles & Vests i just received mine last night (didnt see it til this morning). it is simply amazing!! (Neal, they have male garments as well if you are looking). they custom made a garment for me and it took a day, i paid extra for 2-day shipping, but the garment and shipping was $83!! it fits like a second skin and is 10,000% better than the binder. when i first looked at it i thought no way it would fit, but with the help of DH, and stretching it, it is amazing. i bought this one: Nouvelle Inc i'll be ordering at least 1 more as the swelling goes down. *i am in no way affiliated with Nouvelle, just a very satisfied customer
  22. you know, now that i've thought about it. i dont really like cat arse anymore. tastes too much like fish.
  23. hi Steph, it looks like we're pretty similar with our surgery/recovery experiences. i had lap band on Monday, was zonked, Mon-Tues, but up by Wed afternoon. i could have gone to work Thursday, but took off the rest of the week. this is a huge surgery. i had muscle repair and lipo on my tummy (little bit), back and 'flanks'.. i see little improvement for the lipo, im hoping its just swelling. hoping hoping hoping. i had my plastics Friday, was mostly awake Sunday, Monday - Wed i was fully awake but needed to rest. sooooo ... long story short, i need a full week and next week im going back 1/2 days. if i feel i can go full days next week or if i dont think i can do 1/2 days, my boss is OK with it. Becca, thanks... :crying: half of me is addicting! love her transformation!!!
