  1. I have Anthem BCBS, and WLS is excluded from my plan unless medically necessary. When the surgeons office called my insurance they flat out said no it is not covered, failing to mention unless medically necessary. So I called BCBS and they gave me a Utilization Rep's number for my surgeons office to call. Today, I recieved a call from surgeons office and they are submitting paperwork for approval. Please don't give up, read carefully through your plan and keep calling BCBS untill you get the answers you want. GOOD LUCK!!!
  2. Talking about weight is never easy for me, but I just wish I could talk about it without crying! I met with my surgeon today and it went pretty well. So far I only need 1 group and 1 individual counseling session. He said I am a great candidate for RNY or LB and told me not to make my decision til after my couseling sessions. I have been so set on LB and to think that I have to consider either or is kinda frightening. Oh goodness... March is going to be a long month. Have a great day guys.
  3. I'm SO glad someone asked this. I'm taking a bowling class right now( my kinesiology credit in college). I am not yet banded, but may be by the end of the semester if all goes well. We meet once a week and I'm pretty sure I would be safe w/ missing two weeks, and hopefully my prof would understand.
  4. My mom is in full support of me getting banded, while my dad and brother are against it. It sucks that I dont have their support right now, but it is something that will not affect my journey. It is SO hard to not tell anyone about the changes in your life right now. Lap Band is constantly on my mind and sometimes I feel if I dont saying anything I will explode.
  5. Hey everyone, for the past week I have been reading the forums and finally registered. I have my first appointment with my primary care doc tomorrow to discuss weight loss surgery. I've been overweight all my life. I currently weigh 335 and am only 21 years young =/ I can't do this anymore, it's time for a change! I hope it goes well and i can't wait to build relationships here, everyone seems so kind and encouraging! See ya'll around soon :wink2:~
