  1. Welcome. I hope you have the sucess you are looking for. This is a great place to get support and have some fun with others who are in the same boat you are!! Good luck on the 20th!
  2. Hmmm... i remember going to church when i was young.... they always talked about not messing with your temple (body) and that we are not to change it bc god made it that way...Something to that effect. Well it always made me laugh bc christians pierce their ears... but everyone had an excuse why that was ok WELL! all of here got banded right.... a HUGE, VOLUNTARY procedure that altered our "temple" GUESS ALL OF US ARE GOING TO HELL RIGHT?? I guess Wheetsin will have a lot of company :)
  3. Try searching for shoe in the thread search. Many people have had the same thing... by the way... I LOVE the register name... it made me lol
  4. I agree!! And how well put.. amazing how we naturally like to think that all children grow up to be good... This topic is gonna get EVERYONE fired up... By the way.... just because we all have Fat as a common issue in NO way means that we are ANYTHING else alike. Which is what is making these disucssions so interesting, even all the very religious are VERY differnt in their religious views... they could all get in some VERY VERY interesting religious debates.. THe best i have ever seen was my catholic grandmother and my mormon uncle in law.... it was a mess!! So we dont all agree... if you are happy where you are at... then be happy... just dont force anything on someone else. They need to find their own happy.
  5. Just incase i didnt explain myself... my uncle has 26 children. I was very close to the oldest. I dont even know all their names and they NEVER get to go anywhere. NO ONE can tell me that being part of a huge family like that is great. It may have fun times but they never got to do anything at all... they pretty much lived in "their world" ... that is not thriving to me... But to each his own. I am glad my mother stopped at 3.
  6. :biggrin1: :biggrin1: :biggrin1: That is hysterical!!
  7. My mom says you should only have as many children as you can GRAB at one time. After that it is too tiring. She says she loves all of us (3) but she still thinks that she had one too many. We laugh alot about which one she could "return" and which child gave her the fit that made her come to that conclusion :Banane19:
  8. I worked in child protective services for awhile. families had "farmed" children out bc they could care for them... only to make more. One mother had 17 children. She was a functioning addict She was also a grandmother. She was 35. Tanf is just a fancy term for welfare. Families still get foodstamps and other services that go with it, and once they have another baby they get exteneded another 3 yrs, and if they live in the projects they pay anywhere from $2.00 a month - 150.00 a month to live. food stamps for 1 adult and 4 children is almost 1100.00 a month. I know even UN BANDED i couldnt fathom eating that much food. It is a game on how to get the money. Too many kids is not good. It is hard on many structures of life. I am not against large families. some people can do it ok, but most people can not pull it off this day and age. Consider me a little saddened and jaded by the "system"
  9. Muggle- print what you wrote. Take it with you to your docs. It is hard to articulate when you feel like this but you captured it here. Now the others in your life need to know. Good luck, this IS fixable. I promise.
  10. veggestyle- I have HORRIBLE sinus problems. They said that as long as i wasnt too snotty and that i didnt have a fever it was ok. They also left it up to me. If i wasnt comfortable i just had to let them know. Be good to yourself, hot tea, sinus rinses, all that stuff. Good luck!
  11. I took out a small equity line. I will pay for this for ten yrs but luckily it is only 150.00 month and my mortgatge was so cheap that it really doesnt seem like a huge burden, I paid more monthly on my meds that i am no longer taking so it is STILL in my favor.
  12. I am a transition specialist for Violent offenders reentering society aged 17-21. All my "boys" have been locked up for at least two yrs. I am basically a mother for 20 "thugs" The plus? I work out of my house- i go see them- so i make my own hours.. no office or pantyhose to worry about The minus? I am 12 ft from my refridgerator alone all day. :help: I also Bartend on Fri and Sat. The plus? it is areobic activity for 12 hrs at a time (very busy bar) The minus? I am in a restaurant! I have a bottemless pit of soda and food for 24hrs during the weekend. Thank goodness i am usually too busy to eat! :grouphug: I am also in grad school at night for Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. Whew! that is all i do. :faint:
  13. It might be the shake itself. Maybe you are too sensitive to it. try something else.
  14. I have a port that you can almost see and i have only been banded a month. I can feel it when i lean forward and rollover. I do not have a lot of fat near my ribs (near the port) so figure it has no where to hide. lol I am getting used to the feeling it is not painful anymore. I too could do my own fill. Cant tell you if it is right or not but figure it would help to know you are not alone.
  15. Private message. It means email him directly so the whole board doesnt know you are begging for work from some one who is not solicitating for workers but actually looking for support.
  16. I agree. Ultimatums are useless if not followed through but giving her a sense of "you can get control again" might be the empowerment she needs to get motivated and see the light again. I agree it is delicate but possible. Being firm about what the issues really are, the outcomes you want, and the expectations i think are great. Then everyone knows what page the other is on.
  17. Becareful with Beans. Mexican restaurants ( and i use this term LOOSLEY when i say taco bell) Adds almost 1/2 of it with lard to fill it out and make it creamy. 85 cents is not a bargain if it has the health equivelint as a whopper. I have worked in restaurants for 17yrs. There is a reason stuff tastes better then our own cooking. When was the last time you scooped a bunch of lard into your dinner to make it creamy and delicious. The soups sound like a better idea to me or the smoothies
  18. Ahhh Celexa... made me feel like a chihuahua on crack inside me. I had a terrible time on it. Meds can make people worse too. Prozac had been known to help Thousands if not more but it also makes some people suicidal and homicidal. Meds are tricky. That is why this should be something to look at too. Good luck
  19. Cant you get some Soup from a restaurant as take out? I think a taste of fast food may open doors of temptation that you dont want. Good luck with you decision.
  20. You can lead a horse to Water..... I am sorry this stress is in your life. But your wife must take some of the blame for her unhappines. Many people have spouses that work away for long periods of time. My father was like that. Sure it may have stressed the relationship some but that is when my stepmom planned all her girlie get togethers, went to the gym, cleaned out the closets (including throwing away all the junk she felt he didnt need to horde ) She doesnt sound like she is doing ANYTHING for herself but holding a huge pity party. I think the letter is a great idea. Less "in your face" gives her time to read and reread. Bcareful how you write it. It will be picked over again and again. Bready for fights/tears/resistance How about finding some great posts (just a few) that are inspirational and positive on here and printing out a few for her to read (she wont do this infront of you--- its sounds like she is very angry inside) But also print a few bad stories of people who have blown out their bands with their bad habits or havent lost any weight. True this issue is bigger then the band but this diet is bad and potentially very dangerous for her. Let her know you are doing this bc you love her and her health... dont focus on weight loss. (Its the "do these jeans make me look fat" trap) Focus on what she needs to be happy. Tell her to make a list. You wont be able to do all of it but maybe compromise on some. It may also get her to see that it isnt what YOU are doing but what she ISNT. It is ok to demand that she do SOMETHING to save this marriage too. It is not all about you staying home. Weight is no easy issue with women. The band is a new begining for most. I have shed many many tears over my weight. 2 suicide attempts as a teen had my weight as a top instigator (but no one to this day knows that) it is a secret, personal war for people. It is not easy to tell people you have no control over your own life. Or feel you have no control. If zoloft is not working then she needs another. It took me 6 different meds to find the one that helped. I finally got off them 3 yrs ago. I have good and bad days but i got thru the storm. I hope she does too. I wish you both luck.
  21. I love the fact that he admitted to a mistake. They happen!! But it is refreshing to hear that he was upfront with you. He sound like a keeper, mistake and all!
  22. My bmi has always been around 33-37 at my highest. I am glad i did it so far. I needed that extra help. I love food. All kinds. Mostly healthy but I CAN EAT>! I was hard on myself too. I know some people can do it. I am not them. I love working out but love food too much. Now this will help control it. You are who you are. Dont rake yourself over the coals ...it is a committment which is scary but i figure marriage and child birth are scarier committments bc this IS reversible!
  23. You may be alittle sensitive or allegric to betadine. That is the yellow stuff. It should go away. Try to wash that stuff off. If the rash is really bad, call the doc.
  24. I am a true aquarius including the "bad "parts...
  25. I have an allergy to equal and alot of stuff has it in it. It caused headaches and such. Good luck tomorrow. You will be fine! Let us all know how you are doing when you feel up to it.
