Stop having so many damn kids; population control, anyone?
DOnt feel bad! It was the right decision. She was being responsible.. (how many married folks use condoms along with the pill.... dont lie... lets be real here. If you dont have to use them do you??? ) She has a beautiful baby, a stepson, a wonderful husband, a great job and is healthy and right. She finished college and moved back into the area. She is fantastic. I personally think it was one of the best decisions she ever made. She finally thought about herself for a minute and not everyone else.....:welldone2: It was a turning point in her life, a little tough at first, but it led her to wonderful things.

Stop having so many damn kids; population control, anyone?
WOW:omg: that is a little judgemental isnt it? I think that goes back to the discussion in the first 20 pages of this thread. And although that is Krogers POLICY... iwonder how often it is actually done in a day...... Every job has rules, that doesnt mean they are followed thru with. ANd when there is a will there is a way. I have had families trade the food they bought for drugs. One bought the dealers favorite milk (2 percent) just for him..... ALso...just as an aside. My sister was on the pill... but was so malnurished that it didnt work for her. She didnt realize how ill she was... until she started puking. I guess it was god sent that she got pregnant so she could get to the doc to diagnose HER issues to get healthy..sans a baby to stress it even more.

Stop having so many damn kids; population control, anyone?
We have the card in virginia. They still sell the cards, pay a buck and get a new one. all you have to do is sell the pin number.... and it happens daily. You have to show an id here... but no one ever asks to see them. it is $ and a product sold, that is all that the stores care about.

Stop having so many damn kids; population control, anyone?
Try telling that to my sister who was very unweight, being evicted in a town she knew no one, was trying to be in school, worked in a day care for 5.15 hr but was struggling in every aspect of her life , got dumped and the cold shoulder by the very man that got her pregnant. Physically and mentally she was unable to carry that baby. She chose after weeks AND DAYS Of tears to not continue that pregnancy. She confessed to the family ( the women only) about her shame and upset on not being strong enough physically or mentally and to make sure she was going to be ok. We all love her and supported her on her decision. (no family member could or would take it either.) I watched her grieve over her decision for a long time. She knew the emotional ramifications of this, this was not easy. However, 10 years later she has a beautiful little girl, a husband, a stable career as a teacher. If you ask her if she made the right decision i bet she would say yes, for her and that fetus, and i would have to agree with her. That baby would not have been born healthy due to her physical issues. And not all babies that are adopted go into such great families!! Keep that in mind. There have been quite a few that have died in the homes of their adopted parents.... NOT ALL FAMILIES ARE CREATED EQUAL

Stop having so many damn kids; population control, anyone?
HOW TRUE JACK! I worked in CHild Protective Services so we worked closley with Adoption. and foster care. Funny how no one wants the crack and heroin addicted babies that are out there needing a home. I would love for a church to adopt all of them in efforts to curb this problem. If the church adopted and farmed out those kids to Christians in thier parish EVERYTIME.. then i would become pro-life. That would teach them!

Actually Carlene they are very easy to sight. THe police know that too. Catching them is very different. Police have to SEE the exchange of $ and drug and then they can arrest. HOWEVER, most dealers will not keep their stash on them they have it hidden near by. It is a waste of police time to get one bag off a dealer... when he has much more hidden near by. A small amount is only going to produce suspended time, maybe just a fine in court... nothing major. One of the guys i worked with dealt for years. He was found with 6 bags of crack. He went to court. He got 10 yrs. 9 and 1/2 of those were suspended. In jail he had 6 months to "pull" you only have to do 85% if you are good and get "good time" he was out in 5 months Dealing again. This is a bigger issue within the courts and how much the tax payers want to pay to REALLY get crime off the street.. But that is a totally different thread.

Stop having so many damn kids; population control, anyone?
I have worked in the Projects with people on benefits for years. I cant agree with you more. It becomes a game on how to get a check, and an emergency check and how to get your kids getting checks. It is gross abuse of the system... getting a check becomes their full time jobs. The only reason tax payers dont go ballistic is bc they are too scared to stick around in the projects to find out where their money is really going, it is easier to turn a blind eye.

Why did you opt lapband instead of RNY

Lower BMI Bandsters!
My bmi was around 36 I am 6ft tall so i carry the weight differently. I am stuck around the 26lb mark. I contribute this to a stint with a slipped disk (hence steriods and bed rest) and a bad cold (hence medicine and bedrest.. also eating more cause i cant tell if i cam hungry or not) I keep thinking i will get moving again...it is just a little slower then i thiought. I expect to loose a little less quick as some of the very round group. I already had a great diet... just too much ...i think a complete rehab of your diet makes you lose a lot more faster. I would love to join a little bmi group

Stop having so many damn kids; population control, anyone?
Taken from the Dugger site -- Our daily routine begins with personal hygiene (get dressed, brush teeth, comb hair, etc…). Each older child has a younger buddy or two that they help. We eat Breakfast & read Proverbs at 8:00a.m., then we ‘quick clean’ the house (older child & their buddy work together to clean their jurisdictions). Throughout the day we try to pickup as we go along, but naturally things tend toward disorder. So, it is a constant training process with ‘quick clean’ times throughout the day. At 9:00a.m., the older children help their buddies with their studies in phonics, math, violin & piano (J-O-Y- Jesus first, Others second, & Yourself last!). Then the older children start their music & individual studies- math, English, spelling & typing. We break for lunch at 12:00pm. Jill (age 13) prepares lunch & we all help cleanup. After lunch we work to finish individual studies. At 1:30p.m. the little ones go down for naps (4 & under). Momma & older children are around the table at 2:00p.m. for Wisdom Booklet group studies - science, history, law, medicine. We work on one subject until we complete the study. At 4:00p.m., we break from group study to complete individual studies, otherwise this is free time. We have dinner at 5:00p.m. Jana (Age 14) prepares dinner & everyone helps cleanup. We do another ‘quick clean’ of the house after dinner & then have free time. Some may still be finishing up music, seeing we have to take turns with one piano to 11 students! 8:00p.m.is snack time. Then we get ready for bed (baths, brush teeth, pick out clothes for next day). 9:00p.m. is Bible time with Daddy. This is probably our favorite time of day. Daddy reads the Bible & we discuss the passage together. We talk about the day & bring out points of how to apply what we have learned. We enjoy making up skits & acting out examples of right responses & wrong responses. Often our little ones will fall asleep as Daddy begins Bible time, still they love to be with us at this special time. Bedtime is 10:00p.m. We had chores and all but geez, when i was 13 and 14 i PLAYED alot. I was never asked to feed a platoon everyday. .... I think that this really shows what the posters early on were talking about, that is just not fair. There is never mention of friends...... Drewslou... that article was awesome. I think it does sum it up. Nuff said.

Stop having so many damn kids; population control, anyone?
And the Dugger teens need privacy... they need more bedrooms. I think its is a shame that they have to share with siblings. There is a certain point where they need their own space. I am sure some of them will have mega families when they grow up , but i wonder how many, after having to share such little space, and natural sibling rivalry, i would think some would want to free themself from that life. And I doubt dad can afford college for them.

Stop having so many damn kids; population control, anyone?
FYI the FBI has been monitoring some of the fundamentalist mega churches along with the "compound" living Churches of the Mid west. I think that says alot. I feel compassion for the congregation... how did they get to a point that they allow ANYONE to run their life like that. They are being monitiored for funding issues, child sex laws being broken and a slew of other reasons that I wont get into. When i think of fundamentalist i think of this, not everyday churchgoers. My godsons parents are black baptists. Church for them is almost 5 hours long. Crazy? To me yes, but once or twice a year i visit with my godson and I have a lovely time. I do not and will not devote that much time to anyone. If i do it wil lbe to hang out with my parents or my sisters family, but it makes them happy and I am glad they found it for them. Money making, mega church stuff is weird. I would think it an insult for my pastor to show up in a Benz and i drive a hooptie bc i give all my money to the church. It would be a slap in my face. That is why i shy away from oranized religion. It is not religion itself really, just SOME of the people that run it.

:pound: YOu are SOO right! I couldnt eat taco bell for 4 yrs after taking xenical. Seeing that orange grease seemed to personal!

Anybody Used Xenical?
I was on phentermine for 7 yrs. Getting off was a bad experience. I had headaches and was very very TIRED. (it is a stimulant)
-
Anybody Used Xenical?
Phentermine- good. But tolerance is high... so is addiction and withdrawl effects. Xenical- unless you want orange oil leaking out of butt at all the wrong times i suggest you stay clear. I had to pay 250.00 a month to torture myself! I would let the band works its own magic before trying something else with it.

Stop having so many damn kids; population control, anyone?
woody...good point about better resources. But at what cost. I have a book of dead family(mostly children) from the 1890's. Typically you had a bunch of kids but you knew most of them wouldnt make it to adulthood. (kinda like snakes and fish) They were farm hands so you needed alot of them. Being poor you couldnt have a bunch of tin photos , but when they died you had a burial photo taken. ( it is very neat, not gruesome. I have a forensic hystory... so dont beat me up about this book please)

Stop having so many damn kids; population control, anyone?
Everyone keeps talking about parents and grandparents. I dont think that it even counts .. it can not compare to raising a child in TODAYS world. A world of two parents working full time, the violence.etc.. I think expectations and abilities to care for children now are very different then 20 yrs ago. I mean shoot. they had no one killing for PS3's and tennis shoes were less then 100.00... lfe 30yrs ago was SOOO different. I thought the topic was about 17 & 20 kids NOW. And Carlene. We may not agree on religion, maybe not alot of things... but after your comment about going to Russia and your hubby volunteering to drop you off... it makes me want to spend a weekend at YOUR house! You sound like you all have a really great time.

Scars - Discomfort for how long?
My jeans after 6 wks rubbed a litte infection into the front one. I thought it felt a little hot. I squeezed it and pus came out. I put hydrogen peroxide on it for two days and after about three days it was fine. They are now getiing ITCHY> but that is the weather changing and dry skin setting in. If it is super bothersome call the doc. it may just be a little irritation that will go away.
