Congrats and good luck! It's a great decision.
  2. Depo is a no no. I was on it for five years and I gained a ton of weight. At first, I blamed my gain on my eating habits, but then I started taking phentermine pills and strict diet and excercise. I would typically lose twenty pounds in one month but would gain 13 pounds the next. I stayed on it as long as I did because I felt like it was still my best alternative because I could not afford to have a baby and I wasn't disciplined enough for pills. IUD's, I was afraid of. There of more options with less side effects today than there were 15 years ago. Sixty pound gain in two years sounds reasonable to me because I was near there myself and I was young and active and not overweight when I got on the shot.
  3. I take Loestrin 24. I've been taking it since March 2009 and had my surgery in February 2010. No weight gain before or after surgery.
  4. I received my card about 2 weeks after surgery. I used it for the first time this weekend. I usually order an appetizer or lunch portion but I went to a Habachi grill. I don't eat rice and there was no way I was gonna pay 20 bucks for a few ounces of chicken and vegetables. I went to the hostess stand and asked for a manager, showed the card (she didn't know what it was) and she complied with my request. She told the habachi chef in secret so noone at my table knew about the "special order" besides me. I don't even consider buffets.
  5. I get that pain when I excercise, specifically speed walking around the track. It is worse when I've eaten too soon prior to excercising. I just take it that I am a bit out of shape or moving too much and too soon after being too full.
  6. About a month after surgery, I went there and ordered chicken and gnocci soup. I was afraid to eat the dumplings inside of it but I ate the meat pieces and creamy soup part. OG was my favorite restaurant but after that one trip, I realized that it is not the place for me anymore. Too much temptation.
  7. Yes, I go to True Results. They charge 120.00 w/out insurance and that includes the adjustment if one is necessary. 713-799-9990 is the number.
  8. I am glad to hear this. I have gotten one fill and will get another in one week. I have little restriction and can definately eat more than a 1/2 cup of food. Congrats!
  9. This is off topic but what protein shot do you use?
  10. The PRE-OP was hard but I suceeded and I did well the first week after surgery. Exactly one week post surgery I had a breakdown and had to eat a fried chicken wing......then I had a special dark candy bar to calm my menustration. (I ate a little piece of it every night in secret so my family wouldn't know). i also ate some girl scout cookies here and there in my second week totaling about six in all. I was doing good with my sugarfree jello and popsiscles and pudding until last friday. I went to the grocery store and messed around and got the regular pudding and the sugarfree tampioco. I get full really quickly but usually get back hungry within three hours of eating. I have stomache pains at night that bully me. Now that I have begun solids, I find myself making soups instead. I am a bad example but hope my first fill will restrict me more. I have been excerciseing on a regular and I am still losing, so overall I don;t consider myself a loser....oops i forgot to mention, I had a half cup of blue bell tin roof icecream Tuesday night. Confession is good for the soul but I will not admit any of this to my surgeon. Maybe my nurse.
  11. I am assuming it goes to the site because I have a "cheer" icon and it says I don't have any cheers, yet. But to add support, you have to enter people's name and email.
  12. Smoothie King gladiator is my shake of choice. My surgeon recommended it. But make sure you get the gladiator (some of the others ones are like someone else said...milkshake in disguise). you don't have to get it "skinny" cause it is totally healthy. It has 45 grams of protein too! I buy them some mornings and I also buy the big powder tub from them. I like the strawberry more than vanilla and chocolate. when I make it, I add frozen (unsweet) strawberries or blueberries. I never use milk cause my surgeon is against it. If I'm feeling "naughty" I add a tablespoon of peanutbutter to it. yummy!!! I lost 21 pounds on my preop using this shake.
  13. I was curious to know if anyone signed up for this site. I was given a packet after surgery. I went to this site to get my patient id card and it has different trackers on there. If you use this site please let me know because I'd like to get some cheers from support team members on there.
  14. I felt the same way you do now. I even cancelled bypass twice over the last five years. I was banded on the 25th of February 2010, and I just keep thinking...I should have done this sooner. I have no regrets. Let her heart be your guide.
  15. My port is inthe same place, but it doesn't bother me. I wonder if it depends on the type of band. I have an Allergan standard band, what about you?
  16. For some reason I thought you had already had your surgery. Five pounds since the 1st is great!!! Keep up the good work.
  17. I walk my neighborhood and get onWII Fit. I was able to do the wii as soon as the day following my surgery. congrats and good luck.
  18. i thought it was only me. the scaled hadn't moved, the gas somewhat stopped but my stomache looks bloated. I hope it goes down soon, too. Other than that, I'm good. I am sticking to my post op diet with No hunger but I am having food withdrawals on occasion.
  19. i have a wii, gotta try it.
  20. Stay motivated. You can make it, believe me. I felt just like you but I managed and lost 20 pounds in the process. Good luck!
  21. Yay! I'm happy for you.
