  1. Come to think of it, my knitting has become an obsession. I have started two sweaters in size 12 for whenever I get there and just finished a pair of socks last night. When I stopped knitting the day before, I got into some chocolate truffles. (I'm supposed to be on mushies still). I am just now realizing how deeply I bury my anxieties, and how they affect everything in my life. It all seems to come to a head at this time of year.
  2. I always feel stressed at Christmas too. This year I have taken up knitting again, and have passed a stress free evening just knitting and listening to the TV.
  3. Good luck tomorrow. Kepp us posted on your progress post surgery.
  4. We will be home with our kids, then hosting Christmas dinner for family and friends. This will be a fun Christmas for us.
  5. Take a magic bullet with you. Then you can grind up tacos to go with your margaritas!
  6. Tell her. My sister and I have always been the same size. Six months ago she started a diet and exercize program that has caused her to lose 60 lbs. She has no money and could not afford this. When I told her what I was doing, she told me she was jealous, but she is also very happy that I am doing something about my weight as well. Now we phone each other every week to compare notes, and give each other support. We have become closer because of this.
  7. Welcome and congratulations Dame. This is so worth it!
  8. Hi Bandiva, Welcome to the Cdn. board. This journey is sooooo worth it. I'm not long into my adventure, but as you can see from all of our tickers, it works. Just keep believing in yourself.
  9. You can buy soy protein, whey protein and rice protein at Loblaws pharmacy section, health food stores and Walmart. Just mix a scoop with water or add to some soup. Protein sticks with you longer than carbs and helps you to stay feeling full longer.
  10. Hi Doriana, I just got done yesterday, and they fixed a hernia in me too. Still feeling my shoulder a lot, and passing gaslike crazy. Gas pain can show up in wierd places and be quite painful if you don't keep actively expelling. NancyC
  11. Didn't think I could join in before getting the band, but I am being banded tomorrow and have already lost 16 lbs. My goal for December is another 12 lbs. I think I can do this because I will be liquids only for half of it. This is freaking amazing!!!
  12. Thanks for posting Doriana, I was thinking about you yesterday and wondering how you got along. I bought children's liquid tylenol. It is usually in the kiddie section of the pharmacy. Thank goodness for Moms eh? Hope the pain goes soon. Nancyc
  13. You must be quite excited by now Doriana. I hope it all goes well for you. Can you let me know how it went when you get home and feel like it? Thanks.

Here are some stats so I don't forget. Most ever weight verified by a scale : 244. weight the day before pre-op diet: 239. My Dr. was incredulous that I would spend so much money to lose weight. His comment was why don't you just use the Optifast without spending all that money. I got mad, but I didn't say anything. He just has never understood the problems with obesity and has the sensitivity of a rhino. I am on my 5th day on Optifast. It doesn't taste so bad now, but I would rather it tasted better. Yesterday I pigged out and had 4 strawberries in an optifast and ate a whole green pepper as well. I weighed myself this morning, and I am down 5 lbs., but the other times I weighed myself was not first thing in the morning, so I'll hold off on congratulating myself. Also, I have been using the ketostix, and - nothing. No Ketosis. I wonder why that is?

  16. Congrats on your weight loss! here's my opinion. If it's working well don't change it.
  17. Hey Doriana, Good for you!! If we can survive the pre-op diet, we can survive anything!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

  20. I sent you a message on the other web forum.
  21. You aren't a whiner. You are hungry and feeling weak from having only 900 calories a day. You CAN make it through this one minute or one second at a time. Have you had any lettuce with balsamic or broccoli? Do you have any no calorie flavouring for your water? Try involving yourself with something that will occupy your mind. Do you have anything you need to research on the internet? How about looking for a charity or cause you can get involved with. These may be lame suggestions, but I know when I am busy, I am not thinking so much about my stomach. Keep me posted on how you are doing. I am always glad to chat.
  22. You guys are amazing. In a few quick posts you have managed to erase all the negative things I have heard about re-assigned addictions. The idea of helping others is the best thing I have heard on this board yet.
  23. Happy Birthday Dorianna, When I have a problem with my sinuses I get a bad taste in the back of my throat. I flush out my nose with saline spray which you can buy in any pharmacy over the counter. I am pulling for you to get through the pre-op diet. I start in 2 days as well. Could you please forward me that recipe????
  24. Hi Khrissy, Where are you being banded? Dr. Cobourn in Mississauga is doing my surgery.
  25. Oops. Correction on the lyrics. It should be..."Take the Long Way Home." Haven't listened to Supertramp in a while, so we got out our turntable and the album and turned our kids on to them. Yes, I am an antique. We actually still have vinyl records.
