  1. Thanks all. Your support is important to me. Is anyone else out there going for surgery on the 29th?
  2. It is almost November, which will be always known to me as the month of the BIG change. I start my pre-op diet on the 15th and have surgery on the 29th. Any advice to get through the pre-op diet is welcome! I would really like to hear from any and all Canadians who are being banded in November and December. There don't seem to be many newbies on the Canadian thread. I look forward to hearing from anyone!! I also hope to get lots of support from everyone out there, as I have been afraid to tell anyone what I am doing. I have only told hubby, kids and one sister. I don't feel like trying to justify myself or my expenditure to anyone. I know I am worth it and that is what is important.
  3. Hi Sunsreturn, My name is Nancy and I will be banded on Nov. 29th with Dr. Cobourn in Toronto. I have been swinging from scared to excited since I committed to this procedure, but am looking forward to getting underway. I have been monitoring this Canadian corner for a while, and have appreciated all of the comments and positive feedback you give to each other. Please keep me updated on your progress and good luck.
  4. I made an appointment to see the doctor a week before for the initial consult. During that meeting, he pulled out his blackberry and showed me which dates he had available for surgery. I could have gone 5 weeks from then, but chose a later date to fit my schedule.
  5. Hi Yasmina Iam pre-surgery too. I am having my surgery done by Dr. Cobourn in Mississauga Ont. on Nov. 29th. I have had laproscopic surgery for other things and it has never been a big deal. I think the anasthetic takes more out of you than the surgery does. This process is scary, but it is also exciting to think how much your life will change over the course of the next year or two. Spend LOTS of time searching the web for info about this specific surgery. You can even see a video of the actual surgery. I just can't remember which site it was on. Maybe Dr. Cobourn's????? Nancy
  6. Has anyone thought of a clothing exchange? I need business clothes, and can't afford a new wardrobe every time I change a size. We all are different sizes when we start, and hit every size on the way down. Perhaps we could look at getting together every 3 or 4 months to "shop" through our clothes we have shrunk out of.
  7. Thank you all for your help. I'm glad to know I'll have support through this from all of you.

Went to Mississauga to visit the clinic and meet with Dr. Cobourn. The office works at a frenzied pace. Made my decision to go ahead with it and signed on the dotted line. I came home VERY excited. So far, I have only told John and Vickie. I also told Sister Sandi when she called on Friday, and Taya when we went to Bancroft for her driver's test. Today I posted on the forum, because I realized the since I signed on, I have been eating like a maniac. The advice given was great. I hope I can rely on this forum for support.

  10. Hello Everyone. I am a newbie and have signed on for surgery Nov. 29th. It took me over a year to decide to do this, and I am really looking forward to some serious life changes. I have begun to realize though that I have been way overeating since signing up. It's like I am thinking this two months is the last two months in my life I will enjoy the food I love, so I am having a lengthy farewell party. I know this is not functional thinking, and not a good way to start out on this exciting journey. Have any of you had this problem, and how did your thinking about food change?
