very worried about my surgeon!
punkinvine replied to gshock1965's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be positive that you are on the correct path. A Red Flag is just that! Praying for you to find the correct answer. I am 3 years out and have not heard of this ever. You are your own best advocate. -
How about a birthday celebration. .... Turkey and a fresh spinach salad with lite cheese and real mayo. That was my birthday splurge. I must say at 3+ years out food is not nearly as important as the grandbaby bouncing and laughing with Grammy! What a joy!

Changing my diet with 6 kids around is NOT as hard as I thought
punkinvine commented on LeslieW's blog entry in LeslieW's Blog
With just Hubby and I at our house, it brought back memories of all the kids around the table. We also have changed our focus to the event instead of whats on the plate. Since I am at a place in my menu where the portion is the most important part of my focus I am able to do more flexible menu plans. I really enjoy cooking and the small portions seem to make me enjoy the recipe just as much or maybe more because it is ok in a tiny serving. Using whole foods has improved our menus. Yesterday I made some cooked fresh spinach steamed in a skillet and it was super. Deep luscious green and full of flavor. Hubby and daughter in law were all complimenting the chef! Keep up your good choices! -

From the album: A Trip to Health!
Retirement trip with hubby to Puerto Rico via Holland America Lines. Lap Band after about 20 months and my health was so much better. Who would have thought I could hike in the rain forest uphill? Please know that my life remains my own and I must pray and focus on the Healthy Plan before me. It will be a life long hike! A good one. Thankful for my health. Joy every Morning! Thanks Jesus for this freedom! -

From the album: Before 2009
In our flower garden . Lot's of arthritis and knee and foot pain. Still love to flower garden. I applied for lapband with our insurance company and was denied 2 time. Finally after almost 3 years it was approved. -
Just saying... I did not have a "full button" ever in my life until the insertion of my lap band. Baby I know how to be pleasantly satisfied with a nutritious meal of small proportion. It rocked and changed ME! Those who knew the meaning of the word FULL were not ME.This tool has empowered me to make a better choice. I heard Dr. Oz talk about FULL and knew right away he knows that feeling already. I must day by day use this "tool" to continue on my path.

I am sure we have the same concerns going in. However: going back to my old way got me into BIGGER trouble than thoughtfully advancing toward the tool we need. I am almost 3 years ahead of you. Looking back is like a mirror... however now the ME looking back is strong and more healthy than I even imagined I could be. There was NO hope in where I came from. Look at my album and see how life has been gifted to me. I was 57 and felt 90. Now I am 60 and feel 30. Praying for you to have "peace like a river" going forward!

From the album: A Trip to Health!
Just as soft and out of shape as I can be. My blood pressure was high and my knees replaced in 05. Now I needed fluid taken off the new knees. Hubby just learned to cope with all my issues and loved me through them. Not happy to be 56 and unable to get in and out of our pedal boat on the pond. I kept trying new diets and not getting any real weight off. Needing to make a life change but no idea where to turn. Feeling like I had to do something. -
Before... doing my favorite thing! 2007

Fried Pies... fall before I had the lap band in the spring. What am I thinking? Well I am thinking I need to cook to be loved. My knees hurt, my feet are red and ouchy after a few hours on them. Taking prescription anti-inflammatory medication 3 times a day. Stomach burn from the medication. Life is very difficult. Not looking forward to retirement feeling like this. -

My knee pain is gone. Life is good. Eating whole foods and doing the gym with a 30 min workout 3 or 4 times a week. -

I enjoy gardening but bending to pick vegetables was more and more difficult. Praying for a lap band approval from our insurance since a good friend had one and was so much improved. I knew it was the way I needed to go. -

We celebrated our Christmas Eve with family and had an awesome time. Joy in Jesus and Hope for the future! Lap Band done in Spring 2009. A super blessing that continues to be a good tool even 2 1/2 years later. -

Just such a blessing from God! Our sweet granddaughter has a grandma that can crawl around on the floor and put her into her swing and bouncer with no issues. My weight loss has helped me to be the woman I want to be. I am off my arthritis medication, allergy medication, lasix, and my blood pressure medication is down to 1/4 dose. My BMI is healthy and blood work is all normal. Retirement is just what I had hoped... able to do anything I really want to do. Hubby says the best part of my weight loss is my SMILE. It feels good to FEEL GOOD!
