I had my assessment with the Nutritionist today, it went very well. She was very nice and knowledgeable of the nutritional requirements pre and post-lap band. I have my pysc eval on Monday, then it's just wait and see.:nervous

Had appointment with my PCP today. Didn't go so well. I did lose 10lbs but my blood pressure was high and she put me on medication. I had bloodwork done, and EKG and X-Ray in additional to the full physical, so at least that part is over. She was encouraging about my insurance (BCBS UT Select PPO) approving me and covering the charges, so that is good and bad news. Good that I will be covered but bad that I need it. Ready for the next step.

Talked to Debi (insurance expert) in Dr. Veninga's office this morning and faxed over the "New Patient" paperwork. She seems confident that everything will go through fine and that the psyc eval would also be covered by insurance. :clap2: Received a call this afternoon, it was the receptionist in Dr. Veninga's office calling to schedule my consultation. Unfortunately, the 1st available appointment is not until Nov. 30th, ugh.:cry But she did put me on the wait list in case anyone cancels, so hope prevails. Tomorrow is my appointment with my PCP to get medical clearance and have my medical records sent to Dr. Veninga's office.

psyc eval recommendations- D/FW area
If anyone in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area can recommend someone for the pysc eval I would greatly appreciate it. I know a pyschologist but it's a conflict of interest. He referred me to one of his co-workers and she charges $300 for the eval.:faint: Any and all help would be most assuredly appreciated. Sheree Arlington, TX

Visited Dr. Veninga's website, he's the doctor the co-worker referred me to that did her lap band. It had pre-op forms on his site to get you started. Called my PCP and scheduled an appointment to discuss the lap band and have her mail my medical records to Dr. Veninga's office. My appointment with my PCP is scheduled for 9-29-2006. Here I go, I hope things go well, this is my last hope.

Found out today from a co-worker that our insurance BCBS UTSelect covers the lap band. Was very happy since I had tried to get approval for the gastric bypass 2 years ago and was promptly denied. I was then on the HMO plan but now I'm on the PPO plan and it covers the lap band......yay:clap2:

Pre-surgery questions for doctor
I'm getting ready for my first pre-surgery visit and I wanted to know anyone can give me questions I should ask. I've already got a list started based on visits to this site but any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Sheree:help:

Blue Cross Blue Shield UT Select (PPO)
cpbaby, what did you find out? I have the same coverage, I work for UT Arlington. Another co-worker mentioned in passing that she was banded in April and that they covered it but I haven't had a chance to talk to her in more detail. Let me know if you hear something and I'll let you know what I hear from her. I'm hoping to get this done asap, I know when I was on the HMO they didn't cover it but now I'm on the PPO.

That's not so bad I guess. I see that you've already lost 27.2 lbs, that's great. Congratulations! I hope you'll post progress pictures at some point, I find them to be an inspiration.

Wow, that's fast. Which is good for me. For what time spanse do you go through the consultations and such?

I'm planning to do the lap band. What is the time period it normally takes to actually get into surgery and how long do you spend in the hospital?

Got an unfill today but it doesn't feel like it yet...
Ok, that makes sense. Thank you.
