Still Left Out
You look so great, I've been following your postings and progress. Everyone, I really do appreciate you, but I truly thought no one would even see this post. I didn't mean to make anyone feel obligated or bad, I was just down and that was how I vented. I've learned a lot through all of your experiences. So, thank you all because at least now I know you guys can see me which solves that mystery, but I'm ok.

Still Left Out
I'm just curious as to why no one will communicate with me on this forum. I joined back in September and the only way anyone will respond to anything I say is if I directly send them a personal message. I even contacted the moderator to find out if everyone can see my postings...apparently they can.

I stopped posting for awhile and just kept up with everything and then started back posting and still no one responds to me. They will reply to posts after me but never to me. I thought for sure when I posted today that I had a surgery date that someone would at least offer a congratulations...but no. They did however offer congratulations and support to others in the similar situation and after mine.

I'm not looking for any sympathy, I don't know what I want, I guess I just thought that I would receive some support. From now on I guess I'll just keep up with everyone's progress and new information.

Has anyone gotten out of the Dr supervised diet?
I have BCBS UT Select and prior to our new fiscal year (Sept 1st) they only required proof of at least 5 years MO. Now they also require a 6 month doctor supervised diet and there was no way around it, even with the letter of medical necessity. My co-worker who was banded prior to the 6 month rule just told me it was worth waiting 6 months to have them pay for the surgery in full and that they probably do it as a way of making people not want to jump through hoops which gets them out of having to pay for it. I didn't fall for that one, I just completed my last weigh-in and my paperwork was submitted to them on Friday, so now I'm just waiting.

Paperwork Submitted
I completed my 6 month diet on Thursday and Dr. Veninga's office was submitting my paperwork to BCBS on Friday. So now it's just wait and see. They said the response time could be 2-6 weeks. So, I'm just waiting.

04-26-2007
Had my final weigh-in today of my 6 month doctor supervised diet. They will be sending all of my information to BCBS tomorrow then it's just the waiting game. Barbara said it shouldn't be a problem since they're only requirements is to show 5 years of obesity and a 6 month doctor supervised diet and I've met both of those requirements. She said it could be 2-6 weeks b4 we get a response, so here I wait:tired. I shall return with more information.

24 April 2007
Haven't been on in awhile. Since my last visit I found out my insurance requires a 6 month doctor supervised diet and my PCP refused to do it. Dr. Veninga did say he would do it and put me on an 1800 calorie/30 min day exercise program and has been meeting with me every month. My last weigh-in is April 26th - 2 days from now, after that my 5 year history of obesity and my 6 month doctor supervised diet information will be sent to BCBS, then it's just waiting for their approval. All should go well since those are the only 2 requirements they have. We'll see.

Support in D/FW Area...
Hey Carlene, I made it to the meeting tonight, late but I made it. I met Mary and some others and I really enjoyed talking (mostly listening) to them and hearing their experiences and getting validation that I am indeed making the correct decision for me. They were very helpful and graciously answered my questions. Hopefully I'll get to meet you some day also. I look forward to the next meeting. Sheree

Day 2 on this web site
I have found it difficult to get responses also. I guess my topics did not pique anyone's interest, I even asked one of the moderators what I was doing wrong. I will be glad to be one of your buddys if you like, I'm still waiting for my surgery date. Sheree

Met with the psychologist for my evaluation yesterday. It went great. She was knowledgeable and seemed genuinely concerned that I have all the information for the procedure and what to expect and what's expected of me. Now just waiting for the doc to get an opening.

Pre-surgery liquid diet suggestions....please
Thank you for this, it really helps. NW Island Girl: I'm not sensitive to dairy or soy, the greenfoods sound interesting because with my Iron deficiency I really need something that will give me some energy. I want to try something before I have to so that I can make sure I'm mentally prepared for a liquid diet, I've only ever tried it for 2 days and thought I would starve to death and mostly slept the whole time. If you can tell me more about them I'd like that. I'm also going to go to one of the homefoods stores in my area. Thank you- Sheree

Pre-surgery liquid diet suggestions....please
I have my consult with my doctor on November 30th and I already know he requires a liquid diet 2 weeks pre-op and that he recommends Optifast. From research I have found Optifast to be a bit pricey and I was wondering if some of you could recommend different options for the liquid diet and if you know pricing that's wonderful but I don't want you to go through any trouble. Thanks- Sheree
