  1. It took 5 fills for me. I am at 10.4 cc's in a 14 cc band. Finally steadily losing weight at a slow pace, but very consistent.
  2. Great job on your loss! I was banded February 16th. I have lost 41.4 lbs at this point. I have a 14cc band with 9.4cc's in the band. I have had 2 fills. I have pretty good restriction now, but plan to get my 3rd fill in about 3 weeks. Keep up the good work
  3. Hey February 2010 Bandsters. I hope everyone is doing well. Just wanted to update you on my progress. I am down a total of 33 lbs including the pre-op. 15 of those since Surgery day. I am feeling great and have gotten into a good routine with daily fitness. My first fill will be on Monday and I am anxious to see how that experience goes. I wish you all the best and hope your band is being good to you! Christopher 3/18/2010 - 290.8 lbs
  4. Thanks everyone, I will check out your videos as well!!
  5. Hey Everyone, I am sure most of you have already discovered this, but YouTube has some great lap-band journey videos. I decided to start posting too - just as an additonal tool for accountability - nothing like seeing yourself on video. My channel is ONEDERLANDER if you want to check my first post out - no laughing :-) It was my first time and I was a little nervous Let me know if any of you guys have channels - I would love to subscribe.
  6. Betsy, Thanks for the tip on bandasticmeals.com. I checked out their website after your post and placed an order! It is very reasonable and wow - so easy.. I will let everyone know how they taste!
  7. I was on liquids for 2 weeks pre op - I cheated the last weekend unfortunately and had pizza :-( I lost a total of 19 lbs on the Pre Op diet. I am one week after the band and have to do the liquid diet for 2 more weeks and then puree foods for 2 weeks. I have done good with staying on course until yesterday - I had a 1.5 oz bag of fried wonton strips with some Soup broth I got at the chinese takeout. But like someone said it is still a battle of willpower and I will have moments of weakness that I will have to recognize, evaluate and determine how to move forward with better choices. One thing that has been very helpful on the liquid diet is getting soup from the local chinese takeout - as it is one of my favorite foods. Hot and Sour Soup, Egg Drop Soup and Wonton Soup - but of course I only take in the broth from them by straining the soup - but it is very fullfilling and tasty. Good luck on your Journey! Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!
  8. Leigha Thanks so much for your detailed post - that is very helpful to me. I haven't started regular food yet due to being 1 week post op, but it is nice to see what a "day in the life" of a bander will be like once on the regular food phase, which I am very much looking forward to! Christopher
  9. Thanks everyone - I do have to schedule my post op appt for 2 weeks out, so it sounds like my experience is pretty typical.
  10. I just wanted to see if this was typical - don't want to come across needy - but I thought it was a little odd. I had my surgery on Tuesday of this week with Dr. David Kim. I saw him before my surgery and he spoke with my family after the surgery, but I have not heard a peep from him or his office since the surgery. I haven't had problems, but just thought they would have followed up - Is this typical or am I just being ultra sensitive - post op? :-)
  11. Thanks for that post Tracy - I was wondering why I was getting the hiccups after drinking large portions of water - maybe it is because I am drinking too quickly.
  12. Sweet Tomatoes is a chain we have here in Dallas, that has a soup bar and the broth from the soups are great. Also I have tried the Sugar Free Mousse from Jell-O in the little cups - they are great for the sweet craving.
  13. I have felt the same way - I am able to drink just about like I did before being banded on Tuesday - however I do feel that full feeling - I am just trying to get the 40 grams of protein my Doctor asks to take in daily for the first 2 weeks post-op. Otherwise, I wouldn't really have an appetite for more than probably one drink per day.
  14. I was banded on Tuesday the 16th as well, but I have had no problems drinking normal amounts so that concerns me a bit.
  15. #1. Surgery date? Yesterday - Feb 16 #2. State you live in? Dallas, TX #3. Doctor/Surgery Center? Dr. David Kim/Forest Park Medical Center #4. Insurance or self pay? Self Pay #5. Age and height 38 Male - 5'10" #6. Current weight and goal weight? 304/199 #7. What was your deciding factor for having this surgery? I have tried everything else #7. Do you have the support of family and friends? Yes #8. Concerns and questions? Any tips on the gas pain post-op? I had my surgery yesterday - got to the hospital at 6:30am and was out at 12:45 Noon. Went shopping after that - felt fine except for the gas pain. Last night I didn't sleep too well, just because I couldn't sleep on my stomach like I usually do, but also had to pee frequently. If the recovery continues like this - I could go back to work Friday - but will probably go ahead and take the day off. Good luck everyone. Let me know if you have any tips on how to alleviate the gas pains besides GasX.
