    It's easy to forget

Wow! how soon we forget how much to eat. I received my second fill on August 10th and it kicked in 2 weeks later, I was eating way to much and to fast before the fill but was still losing around a pound a week...I was still eating a good amount but was feeling so gassy and bloated after meals and would burp for hours:eek:. I went to the forum to get some insight and many of you said if you are feeling this way you have eaten to much and to fast, I then started listening to my body again because I was ignoring the signals... at first I was a little mad:mad2: because I was eating refried beans and queso and could only eat 3oz and it was so good but I was getting full after one little burp I knew I should stop:ohmy:. With all of that being said I am back on track with portion sizes and know how important it is to keep getting fills so it will keep us in check.:scared2: I LOVE MY BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    My rant for the day

Thank you for posting this, I really get annoyed when I begin to read some of these post. How in the hell are you expecting the band to work if you are non-compliant, not counting your calories and eating way to many starches. I was banded on March 19th and am down 31 pounds because I follow my doctors guidelines yes I have splurged a little with a slice of cake but it is not often. Let's stay positive and work with our BANDS.....it is a tool!!!! Oh and I do exercise too.

    Banded March 2010

Hi I was banded my Dr. Enochs on March 19th and would love to chat about your journey. I am a very positive person when it comes to my band and a stick by the program type person but I do cheat every now and then (it keeps me grounded). Lol!..... my email is barbarabachi@yahoo.com.

    Coffee???

Hello, I was banded on March 19th and they said no coffee (I simply love the stuff) so about 4 weeks out I had a cup and my blood sugar dropped (not a diabetic) and really felt horrible, however that would happen sometimes before I was banded. My girlfriend got banded 3 weeks after me and asked the nutritionist about her friend (which was me) not being able to have coffee and she said the reason was that it could cause low blood sugar. When I moved to solids I had no problems with coffee and enjoy a cup daily. Coffee is fine but not right away because you are eating so little at first. Hope this helps.

    feeling good

Congratulations on your weight loss, i weigh the exact same as you and have lost 31 pounds since being banded on March 19th and am loving every minute. I focus on the protein as well and 900- 1200 calories a day and average 2-2.5 pounds a week. This is truly the best thing I ever done for myself and finally for once I am eating to live not living to eat.

So my thinking has had a makeover...

This is true because if you do not feel restriction you should not give up. I had surgery on March 19th and am doing very well and have lost 21.4 lbs and a total of 28.4. Here are some ideas of what I eat...breakfast : boiled egg and 3 turkey sausage links and coffee, nonfat greek yogurt and 3 turkey sausage links and coffee...lunch is tuna salad kits (which I read you do not like tuna) sugarfree pudding, or chili from wendy's, refried beans with queso on top, nuggets or chicken strips from chic-fi-la. Dinner 3 or 4 turkey meatballs in bbq sauce with 1/2 cup broccoli or a crab cake from ruby tuesday and broccoli. That's basically what I eat sometimes I switch lunch for dinner and vice versa. Oh, some morning I will have a grande skinny vanilla latte add protein and 2 equal (160 cal and 18 grams of protein). Hope this helps!!!!!

    I Love my band

Hello LAP-BAND® family, all I can say is that I really love my band:biggrin:. I was banded on March 19th and am down 21 lbs including 7 lbs pre-op:thumbup:. I feel great everyday and am so amazed at how I can eat 1/2 to 3/4 cups of food at a time and am satisfied. I am eating around 900-1100 calories a day. I use to live to eat and now I eat to live.

    No fills yet

Hello, my doctor says that some people can go a long time for a fill because the placement of the band gives us some form of restriction because everyone's stomach wall if different. Some may have a thick stomach wall or a thin one, that's why you may not need one right away. I was banded on March 19, 2010 and had my first fill on May 4th with 2cc total in my 10cc band and I feel that I have restriction, I tend to fill it more when I eat meats first like I am suppose to. Can't say I am hungry just eat when I am suppose to so I can get 80 grams of protein and 900-1200 calories a day. I LOVE MY BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1 week Post-Op..1 Concern

Yes this is normal, I was banded on March 19, 2010. My first week post op was fairly easy, the second week is when I felt a little head hunger and my weight loss seem to have stalled when I went to full liquids. At my 2 week appt. the PA told me to move to pureed foods, he said if it has a mother I could eat it....Lol and to eat 80 grams of protein a day and to consume 800-1000 calories a day and drink my water. Once I started that the scale started moving again and is still moving nicely. I am down 16 lbs since surgery and 24 lbs total. I go in for my first fill on May 4th done under fluoro...if I am doing well he may not give me one, will keep you posted. Fyi......I love my band! Still wonder though is most of my success is the band or will power.....LOL!!!!

    I Feel So Happy!!!!!!

Congratulations Cynthia, all I can say is that I feel the same way. I love my band and too am a very positive person. Have not had a fill yet but watching my calories and getting my protein in and am doing very well.
  18. I am starting my 7th week on friday and OMG i am so freaking happy and i do repeat happy with my BAND. i go in on may 4th for my first fill and am excited about it. This is my opinion, if a person is not happy with there band either they are non-compliant and/or impatient. Make sure you follow the rules and your portion sizes and exercise.
  19. So glad you posted this, I am newly banded as of March 19th and am very pleased with my band and the results. I am an extremely positive person and I simply ignore all the negative post (my doctor's PA even told be to believe half of what I read on this post and to follow the positive) but would be excited NOT to see so many "I'm discouraged" post.
  20. Hi, i feel your pain....congratulations on your 20 pound loss. I was banded on march 19, 2010 and have lost 16 pounds since surgery and 24 pounds total. I think you may be eating too many carbs, my doc told me to eat 80 to 100 grams of protein and drink 80 ounces of water a day (not so good with the water). My menu consist of...3 turkey sausage links and 40z of greek yogurt....bumble bee tuna sensations and 10 almonds or laughing cow cheese......3 to 4 turkey meatballs in marinara sauce and 1/4 cup of steamed broccoli ...a protein shot if i am not at 80 grams and a pudding before 9pm (need something sweet to close my evening. I eat around 1100 calories a day sometimes less sometimes a little more. Hope this helps!

    Single Incision

Yes... I had single incision on March 19th, it was great. I was back to work in 6 days standing on my feet styling hair for 8 hours. I love my band, and am scheduled for my first fill on May 4th....down 16 pounds since surgery and 24 total since initial consult on Jan 13th.

    Starbucks fanatics unite!

Hello, I am on week six and I just started back on my coffee. I have Starbucks at least 4 times a week and this is what I order....Grande skinny vanilla latte add protein and one equal. Total calories is 160 with a total of 18 grams of protein, 130 calories for the latte and 30 calories for the scoop of protein. Ask for the nutritional pamphlet when you visit starbucks but my info is correct. Hope this is healthful and yes I am still losing weight with my coffee intake.
  24. Hello luckyinlove, Yes I am eating regular food now, I just started my 6th week and the list of foods they tell you to eat it is very important to follow those guidelines. My first week on liquids were fairly easy, second week on full liquids was pretty cool but weightloss came to a standstill (was only eating around 500 cals a day that wk) and a little head hunger. At my two week post op appt. they moved me to pureed and 900-1000 cals (be sure to count). I have loss 16 pounds in 5 wks. Started at 246 at initial consult, 239 day of surgery and 222.8  to date. I am so so happy at 41 years old, no kids but hope to start trying at my 1 year bandiversay. Feel free to ask me any questions, would love to help. I learned a lot from this forum but do not dwell on the negativity on the forum, stay positive and you will succeed.
