Tamara, That's awesome! Keep up the focus. Lee, Take care; I think you might want to email your doc if today isn't any better. I'm waiting for the sun to shine to energize me.

Ash, I don't have a goal weight yet. I guess Dr. Park will give that to me on the 8th, is that right? My goal is to be down 20lbs by the 8th when I see her. Weekends are hard!! My son has a double header baseball game tomorrow so hopefully I can do some walking inbetween games and stay away from the snack bar!!!

I had my weight check today with my PCP and I am so, so, so excited that my home scale matches Kaiser's scale pretty close so I have lost 14 pounds since orientation. You guys have all given me inspiration! When I am struggling its nice to know that everyone goes through these struggles and you just pick up and get going again! -Ali:thumbup:

I am excited for the point west meeting and to get to meet so many of you. Since my PCP is in Roseville, I am not familair with the Point West Campus. What room and/or building is the meeting in? I have to make an apt with my PCP's nurse to get a weight check--so I need to so I can see how close my scale is to Kaisers!

Hi everyone, I guess I am a lurker....I have been reading your posts for the past couple weeks and rarely posting. You guys are really funny, supportive, and inspiring! I do have a question- How do I get a weight check? Can I just walk into my PCP and asked to be weighed? I have been on program for 3 weeks and my scale is registering 15 pds down but I don't feel like that is accurate so I would like to check my weight on a Kaiser scale. I plan on going to the Point West support group this month, do they have a scale there? Great day everyone and positive thoughts sent to the ones having surgery this week.

Gaining Support
I kind of had those same thoughts about myself as I begin this journey and I am guessing my family would say the same...one reason I have not shared this with many yet. But I must say after reading this site for a coulple weeks I relize that this surgery is surely not the easy way out as people with bands have to constantly deal with food choices and the band is only a tool --it is surely not the easy way out. I guess as your family and friends learn about the lifestyle you will have afterwards that hopefully they relize that this choice was drastic but in the end your life will be much healthier. Not really an answer to your question and I kind of rambled but I admire you for telling your family as I am to chicken thus far....

Cool Lee, I hadn't noticed we had the same...hope you don't mind. I really didn't know what I was doing on that ticker thing so I just kind of picked the first pretty one I found....lol Hope everyone had a great day and I hope to be strong tomorrow and not eat any guacomole! lol:tongue::thumbup::tongue:

Thanks Laurel and Nicole for the receipes--guarentee I am gonna try them all! Need to focus on healthy cooking choices and keeping some variety around. If I can cook something my family will eat that will even be a bonus! Happy Saturday everyone!

superbowl is going to be tough without all "those" foods....thinking some sort of chili might be good and full of protein. Anyone got a good receipe that will fit in with my pre-op diet?

Nicole, You're having surgery next week and you will only be off work for a couple weeks? Was that your choice or is that what the doc ordered? In orientation I thought they said you are typically off 4 weeks.

Any of you in the Sacto area go to the support group meeting at Raley's last night? I forgot but I am very curious to learn more about it.

Weight watchers is good; that does help with the accountablity. When did you start your process? I would like to learn more about that group that meets on Thursdays as that is close to me. Do you know what type of group it is? Maybe I check out the Raleys website and will have some info.

Hi Laurel, I live in Sac area, Citrus Heights and I am just starting this journey. I have went to orientation and have my surgery consult on March 8th with Dr. Park. The day of orientation I started the pre-op diet because I knew if I didn't do it then I would never start....I actully feel pretty good and haven't been to hungry. My scale is 7 lbs down already...I will be curious to know how the Kaiser scale matches up. I am looking for some support classes around Sacramento and I understand that Point West Kaiser has one on the 4th Saturday, I will be attending the Feb meeting. Good Luck and keep posting on your jouney.

Hi there, Does anyone know when a Sacramento area Kaiser group support meets?

Kaiser Richmond Pre-op
thanks everyone for the welcome! All your stories are so inspiring. I am hoping for the lapband surgery, I was surprised to learn that most of Kaiser's surgery's are the gb...will they ask me the procedure I prefer or do they make the decision for you?

Hi everyone, My name is Alison and I am starting this journey and have enjoyed reading your stories, ideas, and words of encouragement. I have my orientation on Tuesday....so excited and nervous at the same time. I live in Citrus Heights, which is just outside Sacramento and I have never drove to Richmond. Do you think I should allow 2 hours to drive there? Is it pretty easy to find?

I attended the "overview" GB class at Kaiser Roseville yesterday; it was very informative and was surprised that 90% of their surgeries are GB and only 10% are Lapband. I know you all are Lapbanders but can you share why you chose this over GB? I am just waiting for my oreintation date...hope its soon!
