Lap Band after having Gastric Bypass
I have heard a surgeon say that before I a seminar I went to in San Diego... He was referring to the super morbidly obese patients that he couldnt band right away. He said that he would do a bypass on them to get some of the weight off then he would go back and do a band to keep the weight off and aide in the rest of their weight loss.

I have first appointment scheduled with lap band surgeon
I was banded on July 1st. Before that I had lost a substantial amount of weight by JUST changing my eating habits. My doctor is very strict when it comes to carbohydrates and by me cutting out bread Pasta rice and potatoes I was able to lose alot of weight. Since being banded I have lost another 10 lbs. Yes, crackers and ice cream go down easy but honestly they are also triggers for weight gain. Making better food choices is key to weight loss. Exercise makes a difference too but with the weight loss I have experienced so far I was doing very little. I have now started to work out on a regular basis and I am sure this will only boost the weight loss. I believe that the band is what you make it. If you are looking for an easy way out then don't do it because it is definataly NOT that. But if you are looking to change your lifestyle it will work WITH you. For every disaster story there is 2-3 success stories. I will be one of those success stories! I wish you well with your decison!

Banded @ 12:30 pm Today!!!
Whew, am I glad that is over. The anxiety had me going!!! Well I am home now and it was a pleasent experience!!! I was originally schedule for 1:30 pm but the nurse called me this morning and asked if I could come an hour early because the doctor was moving along quickly! I was nervous and excited and kept asking myself do you really want to do this??? Needless to say that now it is done. The hospital staff was heaven sent and my doctor is absolutely wonderful. I am at home resting and enjoying my family. I want to give a special thanks to you all who have supported me mentally in the weeks leading up to today! You too have been heaven sent. Now on to the hard part...LOL! Thanks guys.

My Lap-band decision
Tricare for me was awesome. Although my BMI was 49 and I have 1 co-mo...But I would definately give it a go. I was approved in 2 days and my surgery is in a few hours. I am sooo nervous!!! I pray that you are able to have this procedure! 55 is still a good of age as any. You deserve happy healthy years at whatever age. My mom is 52 and I am hoping that when she sees my results it will motivate her to make the decision. Best of luck!!!

Not Banded Yet -- Can't Lose Weight For Surgery
My doctor is BIG on low carb! I have lost over 20 lbs in the last three weeks. I can have 30g of carbs a day. No fruits pasta bread rice. I can have all the eggs cheese meats and veggies I want. Check your carb intake for everything you eat. You will be surprised! Especially drinks. It was hard at first but now it is alot easier! I am confident that my liver has shrunk and I am ready to be banded on July 1st. Good luck and keep me posted!!!

High protein/Low carb Pre-Op diet anyone?
My doctor is a low carb fanatic! He said 30mg or less!!! It was hard at first but I have lost over 20lbs in the past three weeks. No fruit...it is full of carbs. But I could have all the meat and veggies I wanted. Eggs and cheese are fine as well. Sugar free popsicles and jello. Tomorrow I start my liquids only and then Thursday I will be banded...
