  1. Monday morning I had Protein for Breakfast. I had a leftover pork chop:) Weird breakfast I know but it was lean and I don't really like bacon and eggs. I was good till 1 pm with this. Yesterday I had oatmeal and I was ready for lunch by 11 am. So I guess I need to focus on protein for breakfast. What do you guys eat everyday for breakfast?
  2. My health insurance covered my Lap Band surgery. My BMI was 37 starting out and I have had sleep apnea and high blood pressure for years and I'm only 30 so they covered it no problem. One of my relatives also has lap band. She had to pay cash for hers and she started out at 300 pounds. I was 230 when I started. Anyway she told me she couldn't believe I had done this and that I was nowhere near big enough for Lap Band. She almost seemed offended. It kind of irritated me. I'm big enough to have weight related health problems and big enough that I can't keep up with my kids so IMO I'm big enough to do something about it. Right?
  3. I started out taking Miralax daily. Then my surgeon recommended this instead: Vitamin Shoppe This really works! I only use a teaspoon at night. At that rate this container will last me around 6 months. You just mix a teaspoon or two of it with a small amount of Water. It fizzes so I stir it up let it sit 20 minutes and then stir some more. That makes all the fizz go away and then I drink it. It tastes good also:) Just thought I'd share. It's just magnesium which is something our bodies need anyway.
  4. I have a pinched nerve in my low back. It causes numbness in one of my legs and occasionally a deep burning, searing pain in my leg. It sucks but I'm hoping it will get better with treatment and weight loss.
  5. My doc says it's okay in moderation. I just had whole wheat spaghetti for supper tonight but only one 2 oz portion with meat and sauce.
  6. For me I don't miss the food at all. I'm actually glad that I can't eat it all. I don't feel ruled by food now like I did pre band. I really feel free from food completely:)
  7. The only pain I had was the gas pains and they weren't bad. I never even took any of my Lortab. I didn't need it.
  8. No it makes you feel full. I eat a cup of food and I feel full and can't eat anymore. I'm amazed at how well it works!
  9. It may just be going to sleep. That can be caused from sitting in one spot for too long or even from a pinched nerve in the back.
  10. Wow! I'm just now seeing this. You look great! My thighs already look like your before pic just from gaining and losing with my pregnancy. I can wait to reach my goal weight and have this done!
  11. I had my Lap Band placed on August 6th and my hysterectomy was done September 2nd. The only concern was they wanted my band UNFILLED before surgery and my Lap Band surgeon wanted me on Phenergan 24/7 for the first few days to prevent any post surgical vomiting. I was able to have a vaginal hysterectomy and it was EASY. They had planned to do a Robotic assisted surgery which would have been 5 small incisions just like the band but they decided to do it vaginally instead. I feel better than I have in years. No more cramps and no more bleeding. I love it!! edited to add:if you have any more questions feel free to PM me. I don't mind!
  12. If you don't want or can't have kids then I recommend seeing your Gyn about a hysterectomy. I had uterine ablation in May and for me it didn't work so a few weeks ago I had a hysterectomy. I feel AWESOME now!
  13. I used Unjury and Syntrax Nectar for my pre op and post op diet.
  14. I'm feeling the same way. I think almost at my sweet spot:)
  15. My cousin is the same way. She just has a protein shake at breakfast. She's been banded for 14 months now.
  16. Thanks guys! I'm so psyched about this! I can't believe how well my appetite is controlled. Even my dh is amazed!
  17. I'm trying to lose at a slow and steady pace. I worry about having a lot of sagging skin. Since my fill last Tuesday I've lost like 5 pounds this week. I think my weight loss will continue like that for a while b/c I'm just not hungry. I eat 3 meals a day but they are very small meals and I'm done. Is that okay or should I eat more high calorie foods so I lose slower? Also right now I'm not even exercising. I had a hysterectomy almost 4 weeks ago so it will be 2 1/2 more weeks before I'm cleared for exercise again.
  18. Way to go!!! Congratulations!!
  19. It really is:) You can look up anything on there. I was given that site when my doc wanted to do tubal implants instead of tying my tubes. After reading on that site though I decided very much against it. I didn't even know it existed before that.
  20. Honestly? I think your going to have problems once you start solids. I say that b/c liquids go down really easy. Last week after my fill I had 4 cc's total and I was on liquids. I was starving and thought the fill didn't help but then once I started solids it was perfect. I had the perfect amount of restriction and I wasn't hungry. I worry that you may end up being too tight once you start real foods again.
  21. My surgeon does 3-4 for the first fill. I had 3 already from surgery so he gave me one more for a total of 4cc's. I'm glad they got it but that doesn't seem like much. Did you have any in there already?
  22. I felt the same way until I got my first fill. I ate just like I did before the band. I was still hungry ALL the time and never felt full. For me the first fill stopped all that. Good Luck!!
  23. Lord I've had a terrible day today. The kind of day that normally makes me turn to food but guess what? I'm not that hungry so I skipped the food:) I am having supper of course but no crazy emotional binges for me:)
  24. Also if you haven't already you can go to the FDA's MAUDE site and look up lap band and realize band. It will give you all the reported cases of side effects, complications and etc associated with the band. MAUDE - Manufacturer and User Facility Device Experience Hope that helps you!
  25. I agree that seems most logical. Anything that stresses your body can trigger an autoimmune disease. You probably already had the autoimmune disease and it just now showed up. Edited to add: I've read that if you have an autoimmune disease then YOU ARE NOT a candidate for banding.
