  1. I'm struck most by the change in your neck and chin! Way to go!!!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 200.6
  2. Say good bye to buffets!!! I just CANNOT bring myself to pay that much for the little bit that I eat! (So not complaining!!!!) HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 200.6
  3. Lordy Lordy, can't post under the right topic to save my butt! Sheesh.
  4. I puked the whole way home. Pain was fine, nausea kicked my butt.
  5. Oh the horror!!!!!!!! (Blame the baby!!!!) HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 200.6
  6. Cream of wheat, movie theatre popcorn, ice cream (no sugar added, not sugar free), and most recently grapes. The key with every episode was that the food item was eaten alone. No other carbs or Protein. And I hadn't eaten anything for hours before....if I have a little protein I can eat a little of almost anything. I have some STRANGE food combinations some days HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 200.6
  7. I don't have an issue eating with other people. I eat a bite or two, talk, eat a bite. I can stretch a meal out just as long as the normal folks and enjoy the company. The key (for me) is to not focus on the food but instead focus on the social aspect of the meal out. I hope you find peace with this and can eventually enjoy and evening out with the family. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 200.6
  8. At <6 weeks post op I did refried beans with cheese and sour cream, egg drop soup/soup, or baked potato. After 6 weeks I could eat essentially anything, just not much of it or anything too greasy (or else I get a tummy ache). Early on I stuck with soft meats/ flaky fish/ etc, many places you can get em blackened or broiled. Just go slow! I can't eat 1/2 of a meal out. I decided early on I was still going to order what I wanted, not get a kids meal or appetizer/side just because I couldn't eat all of a real meal. I deserve real food, if I don't eat it all, oh well! I know it's a waste, but it's my money sooooo....(drives my 6'3, 190 pound dad CRAZY!!! He'll kill himself trying to finish what's on my plate, it's hysterical)
  9. My first was around week 3....but as you broaden out and are eating new foods is when you'll really find out. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 200.6
  10. It's a pain in the butt, but I find it keeps me honest with myself. I would NEVER meet my Protein if I didn't log....I find most things I eat I can estimate on serving size after having measured for months..Things I eat often I've added to MFP. Some days, I just don't bother. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 200.6
  11. You're screwed! Sorry! You'll just have to guess-timate it. You can add recipes but you have to know each amount of each item in the salad, then MFP calculates each servings nutrients for you. Otherwise you'll just have to estimate xxx chicken xxx avocado xxx mayo and calculate each ingredient individually. This is where MFP is a pain on the butt.
  12. If you out the serving size into MFP it will calculate the protein amounts for each item.
  13. Taste varies from person to person. I take flintstones complete and my favorite protein drinks are Syntrax nectars.
  14. I mostly count Protein but MFP throws out calories too, I probably average 900-1000 at 6 months post op. on rare occasion I've maxed about 1400 calories (traveling, eating out) and then I have days with 600-700 too. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 202.4
  15. Ewwwwww!!!! I'm a southern girl and I love southern cooking but yucky!!!!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 202.4
  16. I'm 6 months and have been consistently losing air since around month 4. Seems like a ton to me but the rest of the universe says its not noticeable. I do color mine every 6 weeks. I do get my Protein but am to taking Biotin (just don't see the need). So far it's almost identical to when I had my band. If it continues on that path my loss should stop over the next couple months. While it's true protein makes a difference, there's also a huge physical stress response to surgery and drastic weight loss that you really cannot control. Just keep in mind, as said above, it is temporary, it will stop eventually! Hopefully enforce you need a wig! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 202.4
  17. Last night we had a going away dinner for my brother (leaves Tuesday for Mississippi then about 6 weeks later for another 12 month tour in Afghanistan). My brother's best friends brother's jaw literally dropped when he realized who I was (it took a bit for him to place me). He spent the entire night either staring at me or trying to get next to me to talk...he complemented me on everything from my hair to my shoes and everything in between. It was hysterical! And extremely unnerving to get that kind of attention from a guy. This is so weird HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 202.4
  18. Type in their MFP name where it says email address. I do it from my iPhone without problem.
  19. Yup! They mean well, but damn. Today a patient of mine for the last 6 years looked at me and said 'damn, you're hot!!' Much better then 'but she has such a pretty face' HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 202.4
  20. Agree with many iffy above. The fee is ridiculous ad they're takin advantage of you. Verify it's not a mistake but if they really expect that amount walk away. I can understand a couple hundred dollars to cover nut, counseling, etc but 4K is insane.
  21. Brief version of banded life vs. RNY life: .same 2 week pre-op, same misery with that. Major surgery. Pain similar for both surgeries but did last a little longer with the RNY. Off pain meds except at bedtime by day 4 with both surgeries. Off all pain meds by 1 week for both procedures. I had my band on Wednesday, was tired but back at work on Monday. I had my RNY ON Monday, was off all week plus the following Monday/Tuesday, started part time on Wednesday, was back full time on Monday. 1 week post-op with the band I thought I was starving to death. Complete misery for 2-3 weeks until I could eat. With the RNY I just wasn't hungry for the first 6 weeks. I was tired for a while after both surgeries, with the RNY it was a bit more severe. Within 6 weeks with both I felt fine. Other than occasional nausea and constant constipation ice had no issues with my RNY. About 3 months after getting my band, my allergies flared up....and I got sick as a dog. I'd have to sip hot tea for 3-4 hours to clear my band so I could eat or drink normal foods. Allergies calmed down, life moved on. 6 months into banded life, 4th of July weekend, out swimming in Arkansas heat all weekend. I start feeling 'stuck' with food so I quit eating and went to liquids....then cool liquids wouldn't pass....then warm liquids wouldn't pass...got so weak I could barely stand, shaky, dizzy, confused....laid on the couch in my office while one of my docs gave me 3 liters of IV fluids, had all the Fluid taken out of my band. Believe the problem was caused from dehydration but not sure. A month later start getting fills (tiny fills) I can tolerate a little but again, allergies, cold, stress, PMS, etc and I'm down to warm liquids again for days at a time. November...the boy child gives me a GI virus....it's over, can't get anything down at all, back in for a complete unfill, again. It was never the same. I'd get a little back in my band and would be either throwing up or reflux ing out my nose at night. I could eat few fruits and vegetable and minimal meat. I tried to not just eat crap but there was a lot of crackers and cheese or Peanut Butter crackers during this time. I was not a bad band patient, I followed the rules fairly well. It was not for me. In full drama form, last summer, with band empty, I started reflux ing out my nose at night. It was HORRID. I was living off liquids, them living off Clear Liquids, then living off hot tea with honey. I finally went back and said I can't do this any more. Had an upper GI that day and I'd had a band slip. Looking back, I think it initially slipped that first 4th of July weekend and progressed and progressed. In the end I had urgent surgery to removed prolapsed band which turned out to be starting to erode as well. I was so ready to have that damn thing out! I estimate I was living off 500-600 calories for the last 3-4 months. I was exhausted. I had jaw and ear pain that never went away. I had chest pain at times. I woke up from removal surgery with complete resolution of the chest, jaw, and ear pain. I can now, 1 year post removal and 6 months post RNY, eat anything in moderation, even carbs. I can handle corn, celery, apple skins....chicken, steak, roast, whatever! My energy s good, my pain is none. I feel better than I've felt in years HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 202.4
  22. I'm amazed you can can tolerate it. Even the unflavored taste stands out BIG TIME to me! Glad it works for you!
