How about some NSVs!?!?
- 6 month appointment today!
You were adorable before but you are just so stinking cute now!!!! Congrats on your many, many victories HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 198- Quest Protein Bars
I'm at the bottom of the sample pack, saved cinnamon roll for last tomorrow but had lemon this morning (anticipated hating it so keep putti it off) I was right, bleh! Reminded me of what lemon scented cleaner would taste like.- How many nights did you stay in the hospital?
My doc requires 2, I got an extra night because I couldn't pass gas. However, there are many folks here that go home the next day. You're best off asking your doc what his standard practice is. Good luck!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 198- why are there so many "different" requirements
I had basic labs and an EKG, and 3 stool cards to look for blood, he made sure my pap and mammogram were up to date. That's it!!! Because I have no asthma and am a non-smoker I did not see pulmonokogy. Because my labs and EKG were okay I did not have to see cardiology. I'm under 50 and had no blood in my stool so no colonoscopy. No reflux or GERD so no EGD. I have no history of sleep apnea or sleep disorder and qualified for the RNY without needing additional co-morbidities so no sleep study . Part of it is what my insurance did not require, part of it is just how my surgeon does things. If I had been diabetic or a smoker I'd have had a lot more testing HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 198- Update from Pitt
1/2 an Oreo! Good for you bro able to stop at half . You're doing great! Congrats!!!- If someone were to ask me when the baby was due ...
Heating g pad!!! It was my saving grace . Good luck!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 198- Things I will not miss...
- starbucks
They keep a variety of sugar free syrups, so anything decaf, skinny with SF syrup would be relatively safe. Assuming you're allowed decaf!- Can you fix dumping
- Can you fix dumping
Agreed completely. Have to have a decent protein load to balance out the carb load to keep the glucose level stable and not do a roller coaster. In response to some of the other posts, I have no gurgling, foamies, pressure, pain, etc. 20-30 minutes after I've eaten I'll start to notice my heart is racing....that's my first clue. From there I get hot and sweaty, dizzy, nauseated, weak shaky, and ravenously hungry. If I can get a snack when the tachycardia starts I can usually prevent a full blow dumping episode, if not it's gonna get ugly. All I can do from there is lay down and sleep it off because it is exhausting. I've now had 1 episode of late dumping, about 2 hours after eating. That one caught me by surprise but very similar to the early dumping. My dumping does not seem to be related to how quickly I eat, if I drink, if I eat too much, etc it is entirely carbohydrate driven. (I get super queasy if I eat something with too much fat/greasy but it's nothing like the true dumping I get from carbs)- Is dumping forever
Grapes have got me twice...but darn they were good grapes....melon berries, apples, oranges, no problem. Haven't eaten more than a bite of banana because I'm scared of em!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 198- Can you fix dumping
The treatment of dumping is essentially to get your sugar back up and stable, however, if you go straight back to a high carb load food you can dump again, I'm living proof of that. For me, the answer is a small dose of carbs with some Protein to keep me from re-dumping, if I do straight carbs I'll be better for a bit the crash again. It's not fun. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 198- Calories?
Smart phone apps- my fitness pal or lose it are good- Just HOW many pills do we have to take?
Nope, most of it doesn't even get absorbed, just goes straight on through.- Any October surgeries out there...
- Question?
I eat bread and brown rice without issue (haven't tried white), I just don't eat much at a time. Yes, it's approved by my doc, in moderation. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 198- Protein bars
Ordered off Amazon, I think someone said GNC carries some flavors though.- Protein bars
So the quest bars are pretty good. Vanilla almond crunch (but I don't see the crunch) and coconut cashew are my 2 favorites so far. About 1/2 way through the sample pack.- Salads
if you've been having problems eating food please be very very very careful, particularly eating things your program hasn't approved yet. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 198- Cigna Approved! November 4 2013 is the big day
I'm 5'6 and was 225 when my band was removed and 255 when my RNY was done 6 months later. The heavier you are, the more crowded things are for surgery, so yes, lose what you can. That said, the do both band and RNY on people much much larger so I think there may be an element of fear factor going on too . Congrats on bring a step closer!!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 198- Feel like im going to explote
Laughing cow, the cure for dry eggs! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 198- Surgery in the morning
Pain is tolerable and temporary. I really didn't think it was too bad. The joy I get out of life now is priceless and well worth any pain I may have had. And no, you're not going to sleep way too much happening in that head! Good luck!!!! HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 198- Cravings busters?
I did a lot of wraps early on (mission carb smart tortillas, not bad and lots of fiber) scrambled eggs with cheese and salsa, refrained Beans with cheese and salsa, laughing cow cheese and sliced turkey rolled up in the tortilla and dipped in salsa. HW 312, pre-op (RNY) 255, current weight 198- Any September surgeries out there
